Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

I was joking around Freeman...  No need to be so serious.  :)

Over the last 4 octals of days, our glorious empire has expanded by over 3.6 million light years (points)!  Many new warriors have joined the ranks of our t'kzintar, and the Kzinti stalk the worlds of many new systems every day.  Victory after victory continues to be won, but our insatiable hunger for conquest will never be sated! :congrat:

Motti, I see that Miaowara Tomokato has slipped out of the top 25. 8C   Time for another conquest!

Actually, the Jedi Prince series (which the Glove of Darth Vader and Lost City of the Jedi are part of) were release some time around the Thrawn Trilogy's release I think.

In general, I think books that are based on movies/TV, or even extend a story originally from a movie, dont turn out that well from my experience.  If the book was first, then there is a much better chance its going to be decent.  I'm a big Star Trek fan, but the books are usually pretty bad.  There are a few good ones though.

Havent seen you in this thread for quite a while Mumble...that video displays one of the Kzinti martial disciplines!

Or vise versa. Take Roger Zelanzy's apocalyptic novel Damnation Alley for example. It was great, but then a film version was made, the film's plot was different than the novel other than the freakish weather and title, in the end the movie gotten negative reviews and Roger Zelanzy never wanted to have his books made into movies.

Just stumbled across this .gif and had to share. Funny, I found both it and the penguin one I posted to Seth's thread in the same random post during a search for Frank Zappa.

That's certainly not my first choice, but anyone that likes Zelazny can't be all bad. Lord of Light and of course the original Amber series are my favorites but the second Amber series was almost as good as the first.

I must have close to 2,000 Sci-fi paperbacks boxed up in the garage. Some real gems. John Carter of Mars. The Lensman series. So many, I've probably forgotten most.

Guson did some analysis on the TA weapons/defense techs per race over here.  This is something I have been very curious about, but didn't have the will/knowledge to even think about trying to rank such things.

The first few Amber books were allright, but I think they became too soap-operish for me.  After a certain point I couldnt continue to read them.  I've got tons of books in boxes too, but a lot of them are junk, as I never get rid of books, hehe.

actually I found the Heir of the force book's quiet good while we are on the subject of star wars book series. the movie novels don't quiet live upto the movies, but the alternate series that branch off from it a mostly good I find. I guess it's hard to write about sci-fi because it's harder to get across the technical details without boring the reader.

well techanaly i like the Star Wars comic books like StarWars knights of the Old Rebulic. i still can't belive they haven't made a thired starwars KotOR game yet. but i am the complet oppeset of you guy i don't have tons of books but i do have a lot o gems like the Logen's Run series Jerasic park, Several Star Trek books, How Few Remain, and Starship troppers.

I'm currently finishing Jordan's 9th book in the Wheel of Time series.  I sure hope somebody picks up his manuscript and finishes the 12th book and series.  After that, back to SciFi and more Honorverse.

At one time I had read all of the Star Wars novels. I guess I stopped after that long series with the Vong (can't remember the whole name). I just was glad when they finally ended that. I never got into any that had to do with the Prequils.  I thought the Timothy Zahn books were great. But that couold be because they wer5e the first Star Wars stories to bve written in a very long time up till then. Still they were definitely better than some th=at weren't that good at all...  say Shadows of the Empire.

If you want a grteat Star Wars read, try the Han Solo trilogy. NOT the one written in the 70's. The newer one. It strands alone from other books and tells his life story.

Since the quote feature is messed up for me at the moment:

"I read a couple Star Wars books back in the late 90s...ones that had Grand Admiral Thrawn in them.  They werent that great from what I remember.  What do you think of the ones you are raeding now?"

Hmm, Timothy Zahn's books (The ones with Thrawn) were probably my favorite.  A lot of times I have trouble rereading books, because I just want to skip to the good parts, but I've had no problem rereading those.

Welcome to our newest member, Panzerrat! :D   May the Fanged God always favor you!

After being reminded by Willthemailboy again (thanks!), I picked up a copy of Destiny's Forge by Paul Chafe, another book about the Kzinti set in the Known SPace universe.  I have to finish one of the Black Company books (Water Sleeps) I'm reading first though.

It's somewhat comforting to know that the allies of good think they must resort to shady tactics to have any chance against us.  It's shows that they are desperate and scared...

Perhaps he could RP it as replicators lol.
