Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Since we are locked in a battle for all ages TorontoRock i offer this challenge.

I have mastered the ZYW to the point where i can break 30K barrier. My highest ZYW is 32900K and i ended on April 8th.

In our continuing battle, i challenge you to break my score... :D

Now...back to more games.....:P

Tried my first ZYWs today, just to check it out. It certainly isnt difficult, but I would like to see how much I can increase my score for such games. They arent as fun as the sorts of games I usually play, but it's interesting to try something different. :)

i feel kinda bad that i joined this empire on an invite and never played any metaverse games for it....but that's cause i have my own empire known as "The Raiders" we're ranked 203 cause i've only uploaded 5 or 6 metaverse games

It's not all about the points DSep. Having characters in different empires is not that unusual. You are welcome whether you contribute any points or not. :)

No, your right, they are no longer fun for me either....They are a means to an end.

I am actually looking forward to just playing out a long drawn out alliance victory or something like that...not for score...just for the heck of it.

In any case you took a very good start with scores between 15 and 20K! Good luck breaking through the 20K barrier...

Yeah, I agree with all of that Neilo. I wish the score differential between victory types was lower. Of the non-military victories, I like influence, alliance, and tech, in that order. I used to do half of my games with influence victory, but now its all conquest, because I want to score well too.

Thanks Noctilucus. :) I'll try out a few more to bump up the score a bit, but I dont think I'll spend a lot of time on it. I like the more epic feel of longer games, partially because as I'm playing, I have a running story of whats going on the galaxy, what the various civs are doing and thinking, etc. I entertain myself well. ;)

You're gonna win this one dude. Best I can do is a little over 29 000 and I'm not even sure how I pulled that one off. I actually don't know to many tricks for high scoreing. When I was playing real games in my push to break the top 25 the only things i really did was make sure that I ended the game in December and that I kept building ships for as long as my economy held out. I'm not really interested in score's for the ZYW's, it's the wins I need for my shiny new medal  :D .

Nope they ain't difficult at all once you get the technique down. As for them not being as much fun as real games... all I can say is try playing 150+ of them and see how fun they aren't hehe.

>Torontorock, sounds Canadian,(Lacrosse) You sound too evil to be united with a bunch of Kitty Cats<

Canadian I am (from Toronto no less). If you look at KzinPat's profile, you wil see that he is VERY EVIL, while I am only chaotic evil so technically he is probably to evil to hang out with the likes of me. Beside's.... I kinda like kitty cats. They're furry and cute, when they're not massacreing other races that is.

I hear ya brother!!! After I hit 250 I'm never gonna play another ZYW again dammit. I like you will be playing larger longer games and going for different victory types. After looking over the alt-meta I have to say that I really like it. Giving people a chance to climb rankings with different play types is a great idea. Good incentive for people who don't have the time and or inclination to get into long drawn out gigantic games, or who aren't stupid enough to play a zillion tiny games just to win a virtual medal that unltimately means nothing (except perhaps that we need a new hobby  ;p ).

Speaking of medals, I really wish there were more of them, structured somewhat along the lines of the alt-meta with medals being awarded for victory types instead of just for raw volume of wins. Of all the medals, the ones dependant on volume are really the only difficult ones to get, and by that I mean the 100+ victory ones (Actually the top 25 medal is challenging as well). I was thinking it would be great to have a follow up to the racial victory medal called the "racial supremacy" medal. Win with all four victory types with every race!! Now that would be a medal worth striveing for. Throw in medals for different victory types at 20 50 and 100 victories and then you'd be talking man. Anyway, just random thoughts from a medal addict (or "bling" as KzintPat calls them).

Hope all is well with everyone.

I may play a few occassionally, but I'm not going to get close to 150! I'm going to get to 100 games with my main character the old-fashioned slow way. ;)

I really like the AltMeta too. For any detail-obsessed player it is a must. All those pretty little dots are so mesmerizing... It is definitely cool to have other ways with which people can measure their achievments as a player. Now if only they would level out the victory points for different victory types. I doubt though that will ever happen. It's too big of a change for the game at this point. I wonder what the possibility of more medals is?

I used the minors for selling tech (as you suggested), and of course conquering. :)

Did you build the Econ Cap? It seems to help, plus i have not broke 30K without at least 1 300% on each of my home world and second planet. (I use Korx homestar for the two PQ8 planets.)

I did in some of my games, but in others I ran out of money before I got Trade. Having some trouble with ARC too. I went in and modified the raceconfig file, changing the superability and homestar for the Yor, and not only did it trip the cheat flag, but it didnt actually change anything in the game! Still had super-isolationist and Iconia. Doesnt make any sense to me... So I deleted the modified file and renamed the original one back to the correct filename. With the forum search still all screwy, I cant find the info I'm looking for.

What did I do incorrectly? Perhaps I didnt modify the right file, because I did notice there is a raceconfig file in numerous locations...under the Dark Avatar, Metaverse, and other folders, etc...

Yes we noticed this too...maybe there was a break-out from some of our hunting preserves. But this is a good thing, for without battle, and a variety of prey, the Kzinti would surely get bored. ;)

Let them try, I feel like having lunch  :d

About the Economical Capital: I almost always build it during ZYW. It looks like I need to speeden up the process a bit more, buy earlier and opt more for long loans with the smallest weekly payment (counting that the whole game will be over in 40-50 weeks anyway). It depends hugely on the number of 1000bc anomalies found and any bonuses on your home planet, but speaking for myself when I run out of money in a ZYW it's usually because of lack of speed. The Econ Cap gives you just a few more weeks before you go in the red. I hardly ever made it to Trade; judging by the famous "how to achieve ZYW" posts in the Metaverse League 6 topic, it looks like economical improvements can almost be ignored, everything should go to speed and bashing power.

If it was not for the 12 turn limit on ending a game, map depending, the fastest i would have been able to win is March 15th. I always end on April 8th, always take the longest lease, never buy more than 4 labs and go from there.

The Econ cap is for your econ score, not for any funds in the game.
