United Galactic Council

Can't we all just get along, for once?

Greetings from the Geckodons. Some of the rivalries between some of the empires on the Metaverse are very strong. So i wanted to make an organization were we can all put our differences beside and work together to solve major galactic issues, besides us killing eachother,  so i made this forum post.  Please post a reply if you want to join. All of the votes are in and the answer is yes. So spore weapons are not to be used while playing in the Metaverse for the next two weeks now after careful judgement only good and neutral races can use them.

The Geckodon Alliance doesn't need this council anymore, we will be leaving this galaxy to take over another, we've been eyeing on it, we have packed up and the fleet is waiting for my shuttle, our planets are abanoned now, but no cities will be on them because we are bringing them with us. The spore missiles will also be going with us. The pads have been abandoned and destroyed. I guess this is fair well, for now.  So have fun killing each other!

PS: We will always hate you guys for mocking us!

Been there, done that.  :D

But sure, if folks are interested in getting together to accomplish shared goals I'm all for that.

The problem is in defining achievable goals and then getting people to agree on what can/should be done and then get them to stick together long enough to actually accomplish something.

This is pretty much what we did with the Metaverse Council and we did accomplish the definition of the AltMeta class structure that is currently implemented. However once that was done we sort of petered out mainly to be superceeded by the Metaverse League. But the MVL is more of focused on simply playing games as opposed to solving major galactic issues.

But sure, I'm up for it. What major galactic issues did you have in mind? :)

My idea has always been to build up the AltMeta into a total player based entity that would be a center of all kinds of GalCiv2 activity that could possibly have a chance at standing on its own even if perchance the "real" Metaverse might someday disappear.

What? No killing allowed?  :SURPRISED:

Hmmm. I guess that'll be ok as long as there are a few souls to feed on. (Someone mentioned snacks, right?  :HOT: ) Maybe a few hopes and dreams to crush along the way?

Sure. Why not? :)

Okay our first issue. For some using spore ships is an easy chance of victory when it comes to taking enemy planets. Using them is considered dangerous and cowardly If voted yes, a law that will be in effect for the next two weeks stating that no empire that is part of this council can use it while playing in the Metaverse for two weeks. Should this law be passed?
A: Yes
B: No

You never invited me, but i sneaked in through the back door while nobody was looking!
I vote no! The Raiders feast on planets that are unprepared for such an attack! Sleepage deserves WHOOPAGE! ;)

Ah...

I'm sorry, but for a moment there I thought you were serious about discussing real issues and real solutions.

While I think nothing is wrong with make believe and no doubt such things can be fun, I have far too much on my plate to be able to spend time on an endevour that is really just frivolity.

I vote yes. For this vote, I'll represent the...ummm...Diplomats! Yeah, that's the ticket. ;)

On behalf of the Geonetti, I accept your invitation. May our civilizations prosper in this tranquil time of peace.

For my decision on the matter, I vote Yes. Not only are spore ships destructive and hazardous, they are also cowardly when used against other major races.

I propose an addendum to add 6 additional weeks to this proposed time listing to lengthen the law's time to 2 months.

Since Motti didnt cast a vote for the Tyranny of Evil, I'll vote Yes for them, and then vote No for the Kzinti Empire.    Using spore ships on planets that are useless to the Kzinti to begin with is efficient, and therefore right.  :HOT:

We welcome the Geonetti and the law's length being two weeks is okay were it's at .

I'm sorry to say but you can't make another empire's vote for them, either a member or emperor of that empire can make their empire's vote.
I'll go over the rules tommorow.

Oh come on Mumble, and I think Motti has the right to vote for the TOE. I also agree with MOttis' vote as well YES.

Using spore is the cowardly way to galactic dominincence. However at 3:30 I will most likely be at work.

This gathering did not ask the emperor of the Gerontocracy for permission to assemble and is therefore declared null and void. Should a decision regarding spore ships become necessary, as your self-appointed rulers, we will be happy to inform you what that decision will be. In the meantime, please disperse and return to your home planets, or we will cut off your allowance.

The meeting was held in mid-afternoon, so the Gerontocrats were probably out taking advantage of the early-bird specials...

Instead of taking part in voting and debating issues that may be of interest to the Tyranny of Evil, we shall just wipe you all out and then do what we want.

I too mumble thought as you did earlier and wrote a response with some suggestions...then i got to the spore ships....and deleted what i wrote. ;p

I propose mutual destruction. Shall we take a vote?

Sorry, but as a non-upstanding non-member, I'll have to use my veto power on this one. My vote for the Diplomats stands.

As far as anyone making decisions for the Tyranny, no problem. We can make whatever agreement that makes you feel at ease as we roll over your puny empires!

Don't make me go all postmodernist on you, oh Ironic One. Your avatar's name is a prime example of frivolity, and so is the business of getting way too involved in a computer game. You're just doing something like confusing deadpan humour with slapstick.

I nominate MottiKhan for Council President...he has just the right attitude. We need a strong executive who is not afraid to take unilateral actions and make absurd proclamations.

Let the voting begin!

Ironic One. Another good one. ;)

I guess I see what you mean but there's the frivolity of being way too involved in a computer game and then there's inane frivolity that interferes with my abilty to be way too involved in said computer game.

Like I said, I initially thought this might be an attempt to deal with (quasi) serious metaverse related concerns (a la the MVC), but obviously it isn't. Also, as I mentioned, I think it would be a good idea to prepare for the possibility that at some point the Metaverse may disappear. The closest thing not directly Stardock supported that could possibly take it's place is the AltMeta but there would need to be dramatic changes in the AltMeta for it to be able to survive without the Metaverse as its front end.

These are what I consider the "serious" issues that concern all metaverse players that could use some attention.
