Hi all and welcome to round 2 of the Metaverse League. I think round 1 was a success and we can only do better from here. For those reading about the MV League for the first time, please see the threads at the bottom of this post for any information you need and please feel free to sign up and play, we would love to have you.

Our main goal with the league is to create a new way of playing the game and being competitive without the need to be able to get those super large scores. If we can get enough people playing we just might see the MVL get recognized as a viable method of playing and scoring which would lead us to another goal, that of having Kryo incorporate the MVL into the Altmeta. So anything we can do to promote the League and get more players interested will be greatly appreciated. I do believe that by ironing out a few kinks and showing the community that the League is, viable, here to stay and uniquely different that we might create a whole new way of playing GalCiv II.

A few tweaks to the rules and scoring.

No longer will "random anything" be in my selection process when it comes to planets, stars, etc...

I have tweaked the scoring a little based on a few suggestions. If we don't like it we can change back.

3,2,1 for fastest games, to be determined by submission time if there is a tie.
(get your games in quick guys)

-1 for the lowest scoring game

It is now 0 for a defeat, no penalty.

I can't think of anything i may have missed, i did troll the league threads looking for other suggestions. If i missed something we were going to implement please let me know.

Onto the round 2 setting's,

A military conquest on a small map with 7 opponent's.

Habitable planet's - common
Number of planet's - common
Number of Star's - abundant
Star density - tight
Anomalies - uncommon
Asteroids (DA) - rare
Tech rate - very slow

Disable tech trading
Disable Blind exploration
Enable Mega events (DA)
Disable Super Abilities (DA)

Of course all victory conditions must be enabled and all else is up to you.

A posted win is never a failure. However is this a submission or not? You say "maybe" which leaves it subject to interpretation. Remember you only have a bit less than ten hours left at this point.

Wyndstar did a statistic on that somewhere in this forum (dunno where - he called it a tournament, I believe).
Anyway, I love statistics so I'm interested PLUS it hurts no one. Still, I can't resist playing a civilization for its flavor (the Arceans are vanilla, I think)

I'm more than a little concerned about this many non-submissions. I think I mis-quoted this elsewhere as 5 of 19 non-submittals. That's not quite as bad as I thought but this is still a very serious concern. This is only our second month and 4 people didn't submit a game. This is up from a single non-submittal the first month. If this becomes a trend the league will be finished in another month or two.

Certainly I want to hear the published results, but I also want to make sure that just because someone wasn't able to submit this month that we don't lose them as a player and that most likely they'll be back submitting a game next month.

My concerns as well about non submital. I love this idea with these games that Neilo is coming out with. There is a new player onboard and I think some new players will also join once they learn that they can compete at lower levels and see how everyone in this community tends to get along(no stupid arguments over religion and politics)

I believe some players had school which took priority. As I said I am trying to get Some new players just by mentioning in the threads, Time will tell.

Alright, as a cross check I went through and checked all the submissions for this month. The following is the raw data only. I don't want to complicate the issue by presuming any of the bonuses or total scores. This data should be used by FireBender to verify his list as well as checked by everyone to ensure that this is what they think they posted.

We'll wait on FireBender and Neilo for offical confirmation of bonus points and overall scoring.

I do want to point out that the 15 submitted games out of 19 players is really not as bad as I initially suspected. Only one player (TheGreatEmperor) did not submit a game with no explanation. The other non-submissions are from; CornhuskerMac that did PM notice to Neilo about being unable to play this month, Macmatt that announced his retirement from the MVL due to school pressure and Berzelius who joined on the 14th which was after the round ended.

I want to put in special thanks to Pndrev for putting in the Resignation instead of not submitting and I also think special mention goes to Vilgan who managed to submit a game even though he joined very late into the round. I also want to point out Vilgan's 3 year 16K point game that just missed being in time for this round. Clearly Vilgan will be a player to reckon with in future rounds.

With all that said here is my summary of the raw data. It's important for anyone to question anything that they don't agree with quickly.

I'm pretty sure that we eliminated that penalty but as FireBender mentioned I think I need an official rulebook to make sure. In any case I consider any submission as a victory for the League. Just keep submitting games and your team will be satisfied.

As I promised I zipped up my save games from round 2 and have posted them for people to examine if they wish. The only thing I ask is that if they happen to gain any insight into the game by examining these files then they should share it with the rest of the League.

I posted these zip files in three sections over on the Core in the Mumbles save games from MVL round 2 thread.

Hopefully someone will benefit from these because it turned out to be more of a pain to do this than I initially thought.

That 16k game was a under different "for fun" rules that were a lot easier (imo) to get a decent score in a short time. Small galaxy, abundant all with tight clusters. I am getting a bit better at this, but I am not experienced enough yet to get a game win like that with the parameters specified for round 2.

Really enjoying this game though and looking forward to round 3!
