Maybe he's making them right now. Sadly, I can't even pull up the mods library for some reason, My screen just says "Service Unavaliable."

It comes up for me, it just hasn't updated in a while.

What's the situation Formis? Taking a vacation? Burnt out?

Just relax guys, for all Formis is doing for us, he deserves to take time. He's probably working hard on them or his job.

I am very sorry everyone...I didn't mean to totally vanish, but it is crunch time for me at work, and I am simply swamped. I promise that I haven't forgotten about you, and I will get back to it as soon as it is feasible. I have a race set that is almost finished, but I just have not had the spare time to work on race sets (or play GalCiv2 for that matter).

As I said, I am sorry, but this is what happens when life gets past 30!

NOT a new request, just clarifying some of my old ones:

Werewolf: I wasn't very specific when I requested this, so here's a revison: Make him (or her, your choice.) be in in different stages of transformation depending on thier relations with you. When they're happy, go with a human with wolven features: eyes, pointed ears, and small fangs. For neutral relations, make them hunch over slightly, sweating (turing into a wolf is painful, after all.) with small rips in thier clothes, bigger fangs and a generous amount of facial hair. When they're mad at you, make the scariest-looking wolf you can dream up.

Living tornado: This will be really hard to make movies for, and if you can't, just give me a still. As for appearances, a small tornado with yellow eyes is perfect. If possible, try to show leaves, scraps of paper, or dirt swirling around inside him. Oh, and if the lightning-out-of-his-eyes id hard, just make him change colors. Here's a rough idea: White tornado="Greetings, Ally." Gray tornado: "We are very busy but intrested in what you have to say." Black tornado: "Prepare for WAR!"

So here is the deal...I am a college professor and the semester is in full swing. I thought that I would have more time on weekends to work on custom race sets, but I am swamped with grading, senior research projects, etc. I haven't forgotten you guys and I still intend to fulfill requests, but for the moment, it may be some time before that happens. Perhaps over fall break, there might be time...but I won't promise.

i love your custom race graphics, Formis. i've used them to create a number of custom races (mostly with mods enabled, so i could balance them as i saw fit). i really makes the option to pick races randomly much more exciting - in my games for pleasure, i usually play with 10 players on the map. before i'd discovered them, i still toyed around with mixing and matching different AI personalities, bonus points and super abilities, but now that i can put unique faces to that, it really feels like i'm playing against entirely new AIs. kudos!

my only suggestion would be something like the Scarans (sp?) from Farscape, or perhaps Scorpius if it's easier to render.

So here the deal.... any thing worth while is worth waiting for!!

I'd really love to see a cybernetic race portrait, something like the Strogg & Borg, except with a GalCiv race being the ..enhanced individual, an torian or arcean would be nice.

Stuff like limbs being replaced with melee weaponry and stuff, but bits & pieces are still organic, like most of the face and torso. Borg-like laser pointer on the head, but no need for gore.

I would like to retract my request for a crystalline species, mostly because I didn't give you any detail, and secondly because my desire for such a thing has dissipated.

Instead I will give you a detailed description of two species I created on my own.

Species 1 = A reptilian race called the Kanoan. They are green and scaley. The scales should resemble that of a snake, not a lizard or crocadile. Their eyebrow ridges are slightly pronounced, and they have black spines to take the place of the eyebrows themselves. Their should be about five or six spines that decrease in overall size as they move away from the center of the forehead. Basically they are like really thick hairs. I would like them to be essentially bald, but if that looks too strange than you can either add some kind of spiny appendages or change the shape of the skull as you see fit. Lastly, but most important, their eyes will have a goldish-yellow iris, and the pupil will be shaped thusly:



Of course with your impressive skills you can do better than I have here Basically the Kanoans are an imposing race known for their command ability.

Species 2 = A mamalian race called the Carochan. They are mostly human in appearance. They have pointy ears, and their hair is kinda big. The hair should be brown, kindof earthy. They have an olive complexion, and bits of extra hair on the outside of the forearm and on the jaw-line. The teeth are sharp, and they have four evenly spaced horns growing from the hair-line and following the skull backward. But they are more like goat horns, not those of a Ram. They shouldn't look too intimidating, unless they are upset of course   

Good luck with the masses of work, and as Nasty and dystopic have said, work must come first!

i'm an administrator at UC san diego - i totally understand where you're coming from! don't fret, summer's just... 8 months away? guh.

I'm willing to wait as long as it takes, Formis. Feel free to delay working on them 'till next summer if you have to. We must all choose what is more important to us, and I am more than satisfied that you have chosen your life. The moment I get my Atlantian race portrait will be a glorious one, but I've got more than enough things on my hands to keep me busy 'till the time comes. Keep up the good work.

I have an idea. If you have done one like I am about to describe please don't be angry with me.

Idea-I want to see more robotic type pictures, like the robots from Battlestar Galatica(forgot the name all of the sudden), or a R2-D2 kind of looking robot, or some type of robot that only an alien would think of.

Again, if this has already been come up with, I am very sorry.

If it is not to much trouble, I've got an idea.

How about a race decended from dolphins? They are some of the smartest creatures in the natural world after all.

Bump. Christmas is coming, how's the life Formis?

I have a TON of other ideas, but some are better than others. So, I will put them here so I can sort through them to find the best ones and not forget any. For that reason, nothing in this bump is a request....yet.

My ideas:

Since we already have Space Marines, (Or soldiers, if you're a glass-half-full person,) it makes sense (to me) to have at least one of the following military sets:

A pilot. There are some cool things you could do here, such as making him lean against his fighter, or show him from a top-down perspective as he makes repairs. you could even have him in different stages of his flight suit, like this:

Happy: Off-duty attire, but has his squadron's logo incorporated some how, preferably a patch on his shirt.

Neutral: Jump-suit with harness, holding his helmet under his arm.

Angry: Full flight suit with visor on helmet lifted, giving you a VERY dirty look as he leans against his fighter.

Note: No pressure, but I would prefer for the pilot to be human-ish.

Ship Captain: (Again, human-ish.) I'm imaging him in a Kriegsmarine-like uniform, decorated with medals.

Note: for ease of writing, I'm using the masculine term as an adjective, but I'm not railroading you into one design.

Some other ideas:

A World War Two-esque soldier.

A B-movie monster, where it's painfully obvious that the "alien" is a guy in a costume. (zippers, arms that wrinkle when moved, bouncing antennae if it's insectoid, ect,)

A skeleton.

A Roman centurion-esque soldier.

Something inspired by a pterodactal.

A 1950's "World of Tomorrow" robot. They're really bulky, consist mainly of cylinders, and have an anntena coming out of thier head.
