Customized Race Pictures, Movies and Logos

Some of you may have seen some of my customized sets of race pictures and movies in the library. If you are interested, I am taking requests for custom made race sets. You can email your request to [email protected]. Give me a description of what you would like to have made and I will do my best. I do have a few rules, however...

1. I am doing this for fun and for free - it takes a lot of time to make a set, so if you send a request, please be patient. Also, I have a job that is very time intensive and I may not have the spare time to do a set right away.

2. I won't do sets that infringe on copyright (that means no characters from TV shows/movies, other video games, etc.). Furthermore, I reserve the copyright on the images in the sets I create.

3. I reserve the right to refuse a request - I won't do a set that I think is obscene, offensive or tasteless.

4. I will post any sets that I create on the GalCiv2 website library - it is only fair to share with others in the community.

Hey Formis6, it looks like you have your work cut out for you. Well done and thanks for volunteering you skills. I've downloaded all your works so far.

I'd like to ask for two if I'm not being greedy! I'd like to have a rock type creature with lava as its core. i.e. Even though it's made of rock the cracks in the rock where it moves would be molten. This would be a cool effect.  

Secondly: I wald like to see a water race. Liquid but with the ability to be cohesive and form a humaniod shape.

I don't mind waiting. Just hope you can do them.

The Caimanoid is incredible! I am speachless. I'd go into more details about my reaction, but they are too embarrassing! Those are simply amazing... the expressions are fantastic. You really could do this professionally, you know? The "happy" picture is expecially convincing, moreso because that is a very difficult expression for a reptile to convey... have you kept herps as pets?

My only regret is that I don't think I can play AGAINST this portrait, because I can't bear to not have it be MY race portrait! Would it be ok if I used this for my avatar on the forum?

I have a question about the movies - how do you feel about them? I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the still shots that I have in the sets are of a much, much higher quality than the movies. Personally, I prefer the stills, but I still make the movies for those that want them. The thing is, the movies take the bulk of the rendering work, yet are an inferior product to the stills. I am just curious what people prefer...I will still be making both.
I don't know about most others, but I prefer the movies. That is the big reason I download all your race packs is because they are movies instead of pictures. The stills might be better quality, but I don't notice the difference. So, to answer your question, I prefer the movies, though I am unsure about others.

Formis: If you can, can you do both movie and picture? I know it'll take more time, but I'm willing to wait. If you don't want it to take that much time, I'll settle for either one you want.

Space Vixens are good. Anything to get the horrid taste of Star Control 3 Syreen out of my mouth.

As for the molluscs, think of it more as a challenge than as an actual request, something along the lines of "can I do this?"

The movies are actually part of what I really like, although having the high quality pics are good too. . . gyah, you decide.

Hey, Formis, I know you're busy, but I was curious if you could make a couple of races for me/us in time, please...
First, a Centaur-like race, except more alien, like with four arms and crocodile-esque head. Secondly, a floating brain or eyeball. Both would be nicer, but either one would be great. As I said though, this isn't important and can take as long as you want till you make it. I'm in no rush...

Hi all - sorry that there hasn't been a new set this weekend. I have been very busy at work, but I did want to check in with everybody.

TOV and Refar - There will be a slight delay in your non-humanoids. I have acquired a new piece of modeling software that I would like to use for your sets, and I am still learning how to use it.

I will pick up with Drengin's robots, and continue from there until I know enough of the new software to do the non-humanoids.

JubJub - I think your suggestion of an insectoid race is great.

SCPX - I will add your requests for the centauroid and floating brain/eye to the list.

Samoht and Omnimmotus - I have got the volumetric haze issues worked out to do your aquatic races.

I won't promise anything, but I might be able to get the robotic race out later tonight or aat least early in the week.

If I may suggest one you could make, assuming it isn't too difficult, I would suggest some sort of feathered dinosaur race, like a Dromaeosaurid. I know there was a discovery channel special a little while back called Dinosaur Planet that had rendered feathered versions of Velociraptor and Pyroraptor. I can email you pictures of them if you want.

To take the time to tackle others requests is a rare quality to find in someone and you should be applauded. Now that i have bowed down i do have a request. I'd like an Evil Female robot character. A running joke in the Tyranny of Evil thread is about Yor fembots and i'd love to play as something similar. Use the Yor as a guide if you like, but i'm thinking Jessica rabbit but as a robot...

Sounds weird i know. If you get around to it, thankyou, if not no trouble you are doing a great job anyway.

I actually have a number of pictures, and better ones than the CGI, which I agree with you about. I was simply offering an example of a computer animated dromaeosaur that had feathers, in case he had not seen any before. But if you have good pictures too, than by all means, the more the better, right.

I have no experience with computer animation (not really my field), but I would imagine that those feathers would be difficult to make, so hopefully Formis likes a challenge.

neilo - I have exactly the perfect thing for the Yor-ish Fembots...very Jessica Rabbit-ish indeed.

TCullen - How about a race based upon either a feathered Deinonychus or Microraptor...both in the same Family as Dromaeosaurus? Or I could also do a feathered version of Caudipteryx, which is in a different Infraorder, but the same Suborder as Dromaeosaurus?

I would prefer the feathered Deinonychus, or Microraptor if the Deinonychus doesn't work out. As interesting as Caudipteryx is from a paleontological perspective, I have never much liked how it looks.

What if we just have a straight forward computer race? You open up the diplomacy screen and see a Dell sitting there. Preferably on fire if possible.

A little, but nothing happened to me personally. I've just heard about their crappiness*.
Wait a sec, some things DID happen to me. Dell Laptops: S-L-O-W and hard to use. Many a time have I lost information on important projects. Keys are easily picked off by vandals. Internet is buggy, sometimes if moves around when you take your finger off the pad. But lets not get off subject...

*(Is that even a word? Oh well) Well, it turns out it IS!

Nice suggestions, everyone! Iprpobobly wouldn't use a huge honkin' wasp as my race, though, scared to death of them.   MY suggestion is a humanoid with huge bat wings. Probobly like Morrigan from Darkstalkers, but with no wings on his/her head, an dressed in a black/blood red tunic. A werewolf would also be cool.

Perhaps a dragonfly then? Just make it hover around the screen!   

Or a moth. Or a really, REALLY ugly catterpillar!

Yeah, dragonflys are cooler anyway.   I have annother suggestion, but it would be REALLY hard to make the movies for it. (or at least I think so.) Ready? A living tornado! When he's mad at you, lightning would come out of his eyes.   As for logos, a lighting bolt on a shield would do nicely.

Aaah a set of Elemental races Now that would make for a good mod.

I am thinking of a book i read recently (the name escapes me) where the human race was in a war with a race of beings that lived in the center of gas giants (the Hydroges i believe). The humans were being aided by sentient trees, living water and fire elementals! Sounds freaky but it was a good read.. honestly. Would be a nice idea for a few races though!
