If I think about it, your answer is enough to solve the problem

You could probably just read the registry key to get the language setting of the game. I'm not sure how many languages there are in total, but I do believe all the major ones in Europe were covered.

Yes, that was the idea, which stroke me late

Having same probs as Sir Nasty, i've really kept up on advice to him to get problem resolved..

@ Nasty
I recall you are having .net 2.0 & 3.0 installed? If you don't actually need .net 3.0 for work, you could give an uninstall of 3.0 a chance. It might be an issue with the .net framework, but it could also be a senseless move

I tried this didn't work.. I've noticed installing 3.0 automatically installs 2.0 also..Anyway didn't work..
@Nasty

try to update MSXML

I tried this to..also didn't work...

I guess what is the common factor to those ppl it does work have installed?
Would like to work woth someone to narrow this down maybe resolve the issue for others....Cuz got feeling once this project complete from Korx its gonna be hot

yes it is going to be hot!!!
I hope we can find the issue so i can use it
i have a gaming PC i`m building will try with fresh install before mods to.

Initialized: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\CustomMaps\totalwar.gc2map
MapEditor could not openC:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\CustomMaps\totalwar.gc2map

That's wierd, the problem has been revealed, I need to investigate into this ...
means the map gets loaded properly, which is good news, bad news, something is wrong with the MapForm itself which tends me to say this must be an issue with windows.forms namespace, ie something might be wrong with your .net environment

Have both of you some "strange" software installed?

may be because i have c: as win me D: as win xp pro Mrkorx so it is looking on C: drive and it is not there it is on D: Drive it needs to look to see what drive the game is installed on the only other thing my be i have GC2Builder installed and it works

like i said i don`t know just trying to give you info that helps

Reply #34 Top

Maybe post the debug.err file???

I had GC2builder and it worked on mine too...dont anymore tho
Reply #36 Top
It's a good idea to think about what you two have in commonm, maybe you two should probably not only consider hardware(?).
@Anubis
As borg said, it'd be kind if you posted your debugg.err, please sir nasty do this as well again, so we have all 3 debug.err together.
Despite of this, I think your problem is related to software not hardware
Reply #37 Top
Hardware is listed in the debug file ive posted.. Ive done a fresh reinstall now of net 2.0 and 3.0...fresh install of IDE and now fresh install of GC2...See if maybe there was a problem with GC.....lol who knows..
Reply #38 Top
Also ran a DXDiag...all good...updated all drivers bios etc...lol wasnt much but love a mystery
Reply #39 Top

That's interesting, do you also run a dual win boot system, Borg35?
However, once you are propted to select the GalCiv2Path on startup,that issue shouldn't matter.
Next version, I'll try to throw in a function, reading install path from registry

Nasty's setup, as I understood:

C: WinME(formated with? {ntfs or fat)}
D: WinXP(formated with ntfs I suppose?)

On what drive is .net installed sir nasty?
On what drive is GalCiv2 installed?
Reply #40 Top
No just a single win xp
Reply #41 Top

Ok this is after fresh installs etc....still same issues
