Grumpy as hell

Grumpy as hell

About?

What you grumpy about?

I'm grumpy about.

This bollox over the middle east.
The forced agenda behind Global Warming
fast food that tastes like dung.
Boring TV.

The list goes on

Please don't get into flames. Please don't spend loads of time bogging down a trivial thread, lol
I'd rather just a few points of view and all arguments please fight somewhere else.

If you can.

To quote Wikipedia:
"The licence fee represents approximately 75% of the BBC's income. However, the UK's second public broadcaster, Channel 4, has claimed that it may need licence fee income if it is to continue with public broadcasting after the digital switch-over. To this end, on April 25, 2006, it was announced that Channel 4's digital switch-over bill would be paid for from the licence fee."

Ic, well i guess we pay a licence fee in Australia as well,,, but it is in our taxes and not done through a licence mechanism. And when you think about the cost of maintaining a licence system, i think it is absurdly wasteful compared to it just being paid through general taxation.

One of my anti rants is Jon Stewart, Daily show.
He's my light at the ranting tunnels end.

Marcus

PS, even though I'm a Brit he's my light, lol

I used to LOVE the Daily Show... tuned in nightly for about two and a half years solid. Then Jon interviewed good 'ole Henry Kissinger, Madeline Albright, and Senator John McCain. Now normally, Jon would've done his usual bit and put them 'under the gun' regarding certain 'international diplomacy' situations and their less than ideal views on these actions. However, during these 'interviews', he pretty much coddled up to them and let them off the hook... very much against his 'normal' self. At this point I'd lost all respect for him.

I'm grumpy about:

- Prince of Persia Classic not yet being released on XBLA. I've just completed classic DooM and need my daily dose of nostalgia.
- Petrol prices. 1.42 Euro / litre. Even with my current car (7.4l/100km) it means at least 100 Euros a month just to get to work and back.
- My DSL gateway frying its ethernet ports, ending up in me having 10 minutes to make it to the store. 12 km trip to downtown. I made it, but only because I know where the radar traps are...

hehehe,, well, here are the signs of old age (for me).... no longer feel the need to drive my car as fast as possible, old crap music is more enjoyable because of nostalgia, have to stop eating tasty/nasty food, buy new computer games but never get round to playing them, loose track of what type of car is good to buy and thats all i can think of for now (wait, thats another one!)

Where is he going to build solar power plants?? Your forgetting, Aboriginal sacred sites will happen to materialise wherever they might want to build it!

They should have! They seem pretty similar don't they, Keating and Costello. Both are low lifes and neither one fit for PM.

Talking about Aussie TV, Mystikmind do you watch The Chasers WAR on EVERYTHING?

no, let me see, at the moment all i watch is supernatural and Dr house. I might watch NCIS on occasion.

Usually a show has to be extra good for me to tollerate the Adds, Or i will buy the series off ebay, other than that the tv dousn't even get turned on.

Definitely ! If I watch TV for more than 2 hours a week, my brain starts to turn into Jello. I'm in the U.S. and all I can say about TV is - What a load of ****! The shows that are any good are corrupted by the ad campaigns and become just a minor part of still another "bait-and-switch" moronic sales pitch.

The tv series i considered good enough to buy so far are startrek the next generation, deep space nine and voyager, babylon5, buffy, the x files, and at the moment i'm chasing down and watching Andromeda and hero's as fast as i can find them.

As you can see, i am a definate sci fi fan!

Edit: buffy and the x files were definately not on the same enjoyment level as startrek or babylon5!

Myself I never felt the urge to buy any series except afew of the Saturday Night Live productions. Steve Martin has got to be my most favoritist comedian. Did you ever see him do the 'Tribute to King Tut video', when the famous King Tut exhibition traveled to New York? Hilarious! I wish someone would do a movie from the Honor Harrington series of sci-fi by David Weber. She is such a complex and believable heroic character. The space battles would have been glorious to behold... Lots of sequels, too.

Unfortunately it hasn't been done on graphic media that I'm aware of. Only books, sorry if i misled you.

Here's some good info on Wikipedia for ya, tho!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_Harrington

P.S. - You can read quite a few sci-fi books for free online at Baen Books. I used the "read online" links after the book titles listed on Wikipedia to find them.

Well as Homer would say, "why read a book when you can wait for the movie". lol

Out of the few books i have read in my life, i did appreciate reading 'empire of the sun'. Especially when the movie was released.... most people were saying that it wasn't all that good, and there i was as somone who had read the book and then being totally blown away and awestruck by the movie as a result. Had i not read the book, then the movie would not have been nearly as good!

I'll throw in with the TV rant. I'm not even sure why I am still paying for my satellite any more. I watch one half hour show a week(ok maybe two) and everything else is crap. When reality tv started, it was the end of network television as we knew it.

Oh..yea I been grumpy about this for years and it led me to stop watching as much tv.

Comcast buying TechTv...aaargh!!! that still pisses me off

I was happy about five minutes ago, now i'm grumpy as hell.

Was playing a nice mission in the old battlezone 2 game and then stupidly jumped in an assault tank. After doing that i then had to reset my cockpit view but forgot how?

When this game was new i remember having a hell of a time finding out how to reset the cockpit view because it isn't listed in any of the command menues.

Anyhow i have forgotten the command again after all this time and then proceeded to experiment with various combinations of keys until i hit the one that brings up the exit game command. It says "exit gasme" and you have two options yes or no, problem is you cannot make a choice, keyboard and mouse disabled!

So now i am not happy. I'm off to cook dinner,,, with the heat from my angry stare!
