Fast food that tastes like dung? I'm grumpy about healthy food that tastes like dung, and that's just if your lucky! And then retailers that sell healthy food that actually tastes good, feel this is an excuse to rob you blind!!

The cancellation of Star Trek...the original series!

Captain Kirk series you mean?

Not so bad to loose that series back then because at least they had other sci fi shows with imagination to replace it. Nowdays here in Australia, if you don't like lawyer, hospital or police shows, your screwed!

Sometimes they will screen a new sci fi series and then it vanishes after a short time because viewers here in Australia seem to have lost their imaginations and are no longer interested in sci fi.

Some shows airing 1st run in the States this season and last (at least) are available in their entirety on the show's web site starting anywhere from a day to a week after original broadcast. I know Heroes does this, and I think the Stargates do also, maybe Dresden Files. If you have reasonably fast download (or alternatively, a stable slow connection and lots of patience), check around the official websites of shows that interest you.

Oh, and BTW, there was nothing sci fi with anywhere near the quality available on US TV until many years later. I was there

1.We have to stay there unfortunely, we started now we have the liability to finish it.
2.We have to force the agenda because of rich oil bastrads that killed the electric car, log the amizon and have monoploy of both of our nations electricity contracts.
3.Not down under, actully I think they put nictoine in it.
4.Oh really, that what happens when the goverment pull the funding pug on free-to-air TV. In conclusion have a look at these Aussie free-to-air TV programs:

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/chaser/war/default.htm (funny as all hell)

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/ (the only not annoying game show iv'e seen)

I'm grumpy that I am sitting at work right now.
I'm grumpy that I still get CTD's...
I'm grumpy that I can't have my RAM next day delivered (just purchased some OCZ Platinum series RAM on Newegg last night and I just can't wait... two more gigs, yahoo!)
I'm extremely grumpy over the weather here in the southwestern PA area... WTF!?! It seems like we get 10 months of winter followed by one month of spring, a week of actual summer like weather, and then three weeks of autumn. I might be taking it a little bit overboard, but it seems like it's that bad around here.
Finally, my most grumpy moment happens every Friday around 10 am... this is when I open my weekly paycheck, or should I call it an 'allowance'?

I almost fell off my chair laughing! Whenever I have a bad day I think about Stormbringer and I feel better!

In Chicago, if we don't like the weather we just wait 10 minutes for it to change.

It is starting to get cold here in Australia, and that means you guys in the northern hemisphere are stealing our summer again! So enjoy our sunshine you thieving bast--'s hehehe

Well on the bright side, our daily average temp is still way above 20 degrees celcius!!

Buddy, try California.

Too True. Australia, huh? Always held a soft spot in my heart. Fun, but in California, you get to use much superior English, and you can drive and hour and half before you see a care without a bush-bashing sticker, much less one supporting him. Nonetheless, I don't plan on giving in any time soon.

Ah, you learn something every day. No, as you probably figured out, in California, Bush-Bashing refers to our president, and to clear it up, i am republican.

There arn't many political bumper stickers in Australia, i cannot remember seeing any at all this year!

We do see a predominately hostile media perspective against Bush here in Australia too. Although from what i have seen of him on tv, he seems to give me a good impression. In Australia at the moment, we don't really have any highly charismatic leaders at all aside from John Howard. And he has been wanting to retire for years but there's no one interesting to take his place.... we could probably make good use of any of Americas worst presidents as our leader to take over from John Howard when compared to the crap that is currently residing right now in Australias parliment.

Edit: this is just a measure of Charisma and not actual leadership capability!

Sorry, I don't know much about Australian politics. I've been too busy trying to fend off vicious, (or viscous, if you prefer) attacks from classmates. I do know the name of John Howard, though. Sounds like fun.

p.s. This is I think the third or 4th conversation i've had with you tonight...

You want to know who will replace John Howard eh?, well it'll be a guy called Kevin Rudd trying to make politic's appelling to teens.

Well there's about 8 political parties, two major (labor and liberal) and a couple of minor ones (Nanationals, Greens, Democrats, One Nation etc.) and thats all you need to know. But don't go off about you being the "leader" of the free world if you only allow two political parties to go at each other.

Absolutely true. It seems like the rest of the world gets a wide variety of candidates to choose from. We get two. There is a fair amount of grumbling in the country that "None of the above" should be included on our ballots.

Well on the bright side, our daily average temp is still way above 20 degrees celcius!!

Yeah, but I don't have to fight my way through kangaroos to get to my car in the morning.

To be fair, we can have as many politcal parties as we want in the process. Candidates don't have to be Republican, Democrat or even Independent, they can be whatever they want and run for any office. The thing is that they won't get many votes because people are accustomed to working with a two party system. That's tradition, not liberties being hampered. That's like saying people only seem to ever buy Coke and Pepsi, and therefore those two companies need to be penalized for not allowing other brands to emerge. In reality, it's customer preference (or voter preference) that's making the decisions. I don't know how you can get any more "free" than that.

Yes, you are quite right that candidates can be from any party that they choose. Where things aren't so fair is the LARGE amounts of money that are required to both back candidates as well as 'nominate' candidates. There should be no reason why if someone has the majority of popular votes at a certain stage of the 'election process' (hah!) they should be forced to come up with what... one million dollars or something like that.

That's our tradition because that's the system our constitution established. If it weren't a winner-take-all election system, we would have a different tradition and the whole Coke/Pepsi analogy wouldn't work.

This is just too simplistic a viewpoint. My God, don't people have to take civics in high school anymore?

Nope. That's why I strive so hard for accurate thinking. Many people are very passionate about beliefs which are inaccurate.

In Illinois last year we had an election for governor. The Democrat incumbent is, IMO, a fool. The Republican candiate was the incumbent state treasurer, and I wasn't happy with her either. So I voted for the Libertatians out of frustration.

The small victory here was that since so many voters were frustrated, many did the same thing. So, since the Libertarians got more than 15% (I think) of the vote they are guaranteed a spot on the next ballot.

These are all the things that had to happen in order for there to be a third party candidate next time.

To be fair, we can have as many politcal parties as we want in the process. Candidates don't have to be Republican, Democrat or even Independent, they can be whatever they want and run for any office.

You can run. The problem is that you only have a realistic chance if you are a Rep or Dem. Are there any third party members of Congress? I can't remember.
