No specials on any planets but homeworld

No specials on any planets but homeworld

whaaa

Hi,

For some reason, dozens of restarts and colonization processes with DA have all led to the same result: I never find a single planet, anywhere, with specials (+100%, +300%, +700%) that isn't a homeworld. I'm just not sure why this is the case. I mentioned this before in connection with the High-Res Graphics mod--but when specials appeared on my HW I assumed it had resolved. But it hasn't. I have started dozens of games and the probability of finding ZERO planets with specials just seems, well, astronomical. Is there a variable somewhere that can be tweaked to turn them back on, or a good way to check for their placement? I'm at my wit's end here--a big part of the fun of exploration for me is finding those planets with amazing specials, and they seem so regular in DL that I can't imagine DA would nerf them totally out of existence.

Very, very weird.

Any help? Thoughts? Ideas? Magical beans?

I too have experienced the problem of no bonus tiles on any world other than my homeworld (I am running the Hi-Res Graphic mod also). Having tried 5 new games and discovering all had the same problem, I was frustrated as it certainly removes a major element of interest to colonization.

After trying all I could think of, I was considering a game reinstall. When I looked on Stardock Central I noticed I had missed one of the updates: Gal Civ II 1.50.098 dated 4/2/07. I installed that update and on starting a new game was delighted to discover the planet bonuses were back.

This solution may be unique to my situation; perhaps the problem is dependent on the order in which patches, Dark Avatar and/or the Hi-Res mod are installed.

I already have that installed. I'm not sure what else to try--but it's entirely possible the order of installation is important here. What file specifically governs this? I honestly wonder if there's any variable I can check, or if something's not being found.

Since running the latest patch worked for me, maybe the next one will fix the problem (not very useful if you want to play now). Other than that is it worth emailing help and finding out if there is any way to uninstall or reinstall the most recent patch? Worst case is unistalling Gal Civ, and reinstalling Gal Civ-> Hi-Res mod -> Latest patch. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I recently encountered this problem right after installing the Hi-Res mod. But after a couple of Ctrl Ns it seems to have fixed itself. Actually it's odd because now most worlds I colonise have far more special tiles than they've ever had before.
On the other hand, space resources seem to have completely vanished. Poof. Gone. None for me or the AI. No matter how many times I restart. This happened at the same time the bonus tiles problem fixed itself. Really weird.

That's weird I have the high res mod and I still get space resources .
