Arrakis Imperium

Whoever Controls the Spice, Controls the Universe

The Senators of the Arrakis Imperium have spoken. The Imperium has been switched from a moderated empire to an open empire with regards to membership. All are welcome to join. Senator status is available to all Dune inspired characters. We are an active bunch, having gone from unranked to #11 in less than 3 months. We also changed our name a bit so I suppose that a new post has been in order for some time now.

We are a fun loving group prone to rattling off in "Dune speak"from time to time but we also enjoy a good strategy discussion too. So anyone looking for an active empire to join, come check us out.

Horath

Do you mean Korath?

Korath. Sorry about that.

The Korath campaign has come to an end with 49K added to the Imperium score. The charge towards #8 place continues.

Hello everyone,

I just joined the empire and I'm going to work on cranking some games out and getting my score up to at least 100k. While I can't dedicate as much time as I'd like to the game because of Wife/Daughter/Dog/Cat obligations, I'm getting much better at only sleeping 5-6 hours a night to give me a couple of extra play hours in the evening.

May the sands swallow all enemies of the Arrakis Imperium!

Welcome, hope you like our empire

100k will go a long way to getting us up the charts.

Greetings Metaverse Citizens,

The Arrakis Iperium begins its track back onto the Galactic Map. I've posted a few small victories as I dust off my empire building skills.

Welcome Back Vukasika, it's been a while :). Hope to see the AI make a comeback.
Thank you,

Posted another game today, clawing my way back to a rank of 40 judging from the numbers. I will have to see about recruiting some new blood to the AI.

Welcome back vuk :)

The empire has fallen into a state of disrepair. But that is only temporary, I hope to get back into Gal Civ soon and post a few victories.

Thanks good to here from you. I've spent most of the last year starting my own private practice. Man what an adventure but finally things are smoothing out and I have a bit of free time again.

I have been in contact with Hidar and the Bene Tleilaxu will be rejioning the fight as well. We have returned from the the Scattering and it seems to me that the Kzinti Empire bears a remarkable resemblance to the Futars. They seem to have run rampage. Time to band to together and skin a few cats.

conquered another galaxy today and posted. That should move me back up to 38th in the rankings. Two alley cats in front of me ranked 36 & 37. Time to play mash the cat.

We respect the Fremen warriors....for a non-Kzin they are quite fierce. But they are too dry & stringy for our tastes. And all that spice makes us sneeze! ;)

Nice to see the Fremen get some props. Sorry about the sneezing, spice probably makes for terrible hairballs, perhaps the Kzin equivalent of the Bene Gesserit spice agony.

Another conquest posted and the Hitchhikers fall to within 34k of our grasp. Soon the #11 rank will be ours and then the Colonial Fleet must be vanquished. Another Kzinti Hide adorns the Great Hall of the Padishah Emperor as Hraak-Riit (Aka Cat Gut Gumbo) is displaced from the 37th rank. It seems the road back to the Galactic Map is paved with Kzinti bones.

Congrats Vukasika, but Hraak-Ritt will rise above you again soon. ;) I've got a game in the works with him that should be about 150k.

Hraak-Ritt will return you say... probably a ghola. I will have to speak to the Tluelax about being more restrictive with that technology. Post your conquest respected feline advesary, I already have two more campaigns in the works myself, one for the Padishah Emperor and one for Maud'Dib. Right now I'm dusting off my skills since I haven't played seriously since this time last year.

Funny part is that just as soon as I get acclimated to Dark Avatar, I'll have to start learning the third installment.

Greetings Senators and Overlords,

Currently I am engaged in three separate campaigns - Terran, Korath and a Custom Race I refer to as the Arrakis Imperium :). The Terran Campaign is all but done and we are in the point building phase of consolidating a decent sized nuetral empire. The Korath campaign has just turned the corner and the evil brutes are preparing to subjugate the only other empire of size, ironically the Terrans. The AI game is asmaller campaign but so far the most exciting.

Actual got a miserable corner location with nothing nearby but got 2 yes 2 precursor libraries bonuses and just couldn't resist the urge to try and use the huge researhc advanteg to try and bring the galaxy to its knees. Focused initial research on planet invasion techs and engines. I was able to blitz the home world of the closest empire (Terran) with massive troop bonuses before they could even field any defenders. Asluck would have it, Earth had a Precusor manufacturing bonus and it immediately became my manufacturing Capital. The last 2 Terran worlds fell quickly afterwards.

While this has been going on, the Thalans had expanded too much for the comfort of their neighbors and the war against them spread. We joined the fray, taking advante of our trade space station near Thala to mount a lighting assault on Thala which has thus far resulted in the addition of 3 Thalan worlds to our empire. Feeling secure in our position and growing fleet we have also attacked and conquered 2 Kynn worlds. I played attention to the other empires weapons and defense which has primarily been missile tech for both, I have therefore developed medium ships with beam weapons and missile defense.

The game is being played on the Painful setting. I like playing giant galaxies with rare stars and clusters habitable planets, 9empires and all 8 minor races. This tends to allow each empire 6-12 planets on average depending on location and keeps every ship and colony important. I like th distance between the empires as it often allowsfor development and trade before conquest.

Campaign Update -

The AI custom race campaign has taken some interesting turns. The Thalan Empire is little more than a footnote now but we hit a brick wall in the war with the Krynn Consulate. Our tech advantage is nearly gone as we are still only fielding medium hull vessels and they have sent huge hull vessels into the fray. We have only been able to keep a stalemate going because of our star bases with lvl 3 fortification (gotta love those).

The Iconians, the Arceans and most minor races have all fallen. Only the Arceans joined the AI. Just when it began to look grim, the galaxy was struck by a plague. We could not have asked for better. This has eliminated most of the Krynn and Thalan attempts at ground invasions. Best of all, the AI special abilities is that of super breeder so we lost very little population while we developed a cure. We are still growing while the other empires' populations continue to dwindle.

We have captured two more Thalan and Krynn worlds and now the fortunes of war have again fallen in our direction.

Senators and Overlords,

The AI has reclaimed the #11 empire ranking and the Padishah Emperor has climbed from #37 to #30 with the submission of two more successful campaigns. More Krinti hides added to the Throne Room as Franue falls before the onslaught on the Padishah Emperor and yet another of the Kzinti Patriarchs minions, Slayer Churuff now falls within my sights. I shall add his bones to my throne in within the next week or so.

Two more campaigns are coming to a close and the AI will soon return to the Galactic Map.

A usurper "empire," the Auri, has claimed the 11th rank from us. Actually an empire of one individual who seems to have found some bug to manipulate and produce scores the likes of which I have never seen. I am reminded of the legacy of the Iron Guerillas.
Many people have noticed the scores of this Spacetimer, and the unanimous consensus seems to be that he is cheating in some way....so I and everyone else that I have talked to about it have chosen to disregard him and the Auri. Check the Tryanny of Evil thread for some of the discussion about it. Mumblefratz, who is the best person at getting megascores that I know, said there was no way someone could get 2 million points on a small map. The best I am aware of is 1 million on a gigantic all abundant map. Just send over some Fedaykin to assassinate the infidel. ;)

Might we suggest face dancers instead? While we are having some issues with the new face dancers returing from the scattering. We are confident that the Bene Tleilax will soon begin campaigns against the infidels.

On Behalf of the AI Senate I would like to welcome 2 new overlords - Vorian Atreides and SirLoin. As per our imperial Dune mandates, I would like to recommend Vorian for an immediate seat in the Senate.
