Arrakis Imperium

Whoever Controls the Spice, Controls the Universe

The Senators of the Arrakis Imperium have spoken. The Imperium has been switched from a moderated empire to an open empire with regards to membership. All are welcome to join. Senator status is available to all Dune inspired characters. We are an active bunch, having gone from unranked to #11 in less than 3 months. We also changed our name a bit so I suppose that a new post has been in order for some time now.

We are a fun loving group prone to rattling off in "Dune speak"from time to time but we also enjoy a good strategy discussion too. So anyone looking for an active empire to join, come check us out.

Oh the High Command is not alone, it seems that the Galactic Empire is the most lively Empire currently out there. Have you seen their recruitment thread? You can tell that it is a great community just from that. Hopefully we can join the fun, just a few more Emps left to go to be in the top 5. Shame that one of them is the Fleet.

Nope,

I haven't heard from Selim either. I'll email him if we don't hear from him by the weekend. I'll have a chance to start a game by then as well.

Hey everyone!!

I dont know if you have been paying much attention to the Metaverse forums. But it seems that some within the community aim at a expanding and improving the Metaverse. In a thread started by Hidar, discussion has shifted to a possible fomation of a council to further the discussion and debate on improvements. We want to gather some opinions of the most influencial members and empires. So being part of this one i ask you for yours. How would you feel about a council to improve the Metaverse? And would it be worth your time to participate?

If you want to get better info about what we talk about go to the Is anyone there? thread. Heres the link.

Hey guys, a response would be much appreciated. We are one of the two empires still not even in the consideration phase.
Yep, I've been keeping up. I've even talked to Mumble about it in the Core. As emeperor I figured I would offer my support and volunteer to do what ever was needed.
Okay thanks. Now that we have the approval of the emperor. We need to get ready for representation. I suggest volunteers and nominees be offered, then we should vote for at least two(most likely the number).

Do we have any volunteers?

Do we have any volunteers?

It's not my place to really offer any suggestions here but I do want to point out one thing that may otherwise be overlooked. I would hope that you would not exclude your emperor from consideration to be one of your representatives. I apologize for the intrusion.

I think we should take nominations.
Well said Mumble, As Padishah Emperor of the AI, I certainly would volunteer but I would like to nominate my friend "The Great Emperor" to represent us on this galactic council. Hidar is a friend of mine and I know he's got a lot of real world stuff going on with school right now so, I doubt that he's got time to participate. I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure but is someone else is interested I would'nt mine them representing us as well. I would like to spend some more time recruiting citizens and keeping active in the posts both here and in the Galactic Core.

I dont know if i should accept. I too have a lot of school related stuff going on, and it already taken some precious hours of study time to read through all this. Plus, i might over complicate things easily.(already some of that has shown itself in the Constitution thread). However, i will consider it i mean as long as the possition stays open.

I think you should participate in it Vukasika, your one of the most active members in this Empire, not to mention Emperor. Plus, our empire isnt that large yet so besides me and Hidar there arent that many active members. So i think for now we should all consider our possitions in our Empires, and the possible other members that might be willing to be part of the Council. Then we could put it to a vote if that is necessary.

Fine by me and school should definitely be a priority ahead of entertainment.

Pardon yet another intrusion. Yes, school is more important than a game. But, as far as the tendency to over complicate goes, we all have our crosses to bear. I just wouldn't want that to be the reason behind not accepting the deserved nomination. No one has put more effort in spreading the word than TheGreatEmperor. I just want to give him my vote of confidence.

Very well, since today i finished the bulk of my hardest finals(and hopefully did well). I accept for the time being. Thanks Mumble and Vukasika your confidence in will not be misplaced,.

The Bene Tleilax support the nomination of TGE as AI representative to the Metaverse Council. As Vuk- mentioned, I'll continue posting but I've been very busy with a few other projects.

Much thanks once again

We need one more rep and we are all set. Its either you hidar, or vukasika you guys can figure it out, i support both of you.

As for further progress, now that reps are being chosen we need to affirm that each Founding Empire, us included, aproves of the "magna carta" of the Council.

Here it is, and its quite simple we just needed to remind people what our purpose was and set a few basic rules.

We, the active members of the Metaverse, as represented by the four founding empires: B.C. Space Orca’s, The Galactic Diplomats, The High Command Hegemony and Arrakis Imperium, have approved the formation of the Metaverse Council. The purpose of this Council is to increase interest and participation in the Metaverse by the general Galactic Civilization II community. To achieve the stated purpose the Council is presumed to act with the combined weight and authority of all those the Council represents. This document defines the rules under which the Council must act and requires ratification by all four founding empires. Once ratified these rules may only be changed by an 80% majority of the Council itself.

1) Any and all votes that require a change to the status quo require a 70% majority of voting representatives. The votes of all representatives carry equal weight. In such a case where no status quo exists a simple majority of voting representatives is sufficient.

2) Initial representation shall consist of 2 representatives selected or elected from each of the four founding empires. The nature of the selection of future representatives and the inclusion of future empires in the Council shall be determined by the Council itself, but the inclusion of representatives; unaligned to any empire or from empires deemed too small for direct inclusion in the Council, is to be a priority.

I'll the additional rep since Hidar is too busy and the Magna Carta looks good to me.

P.S.
Pardon yet another intrusion.

By imperial decree   Mumble is always welcome here. No pardon necessary.

See Mumble no problems.

Your approval is most welcome Vukasika, and your future participation in the Council is most appreciated.

On another note, have you considered getting forums for the Empire, so its either to contact more of our members.

I have to confession a bit of cyber-ignorance about how to set up such a forum. I would like to have such a forum. Perhaps you could advise me with regards to the process?

5 minutes later...

I have found a web site for creating a free forum and will have one up and running by next week. I have 2 seminars to conduct over the next few days and I doubt that I'll get to it before then.

5 minutes after that...

Or we could always set up a forum in the Galctic Core. A funny place in and of itself.

Strategy Time Folks -

1) Look for enemy hyperion shrinkers, you get additional miniturization bounes for each one you own.

2) When playing and evil beastie empire, trade the minor races xeno ethics before you invade, most will become nuetral = free terraforming.

3) Bribe other empires into war and then swoop in with transports to steal undefended planets from whoever is losing the conflict.
And addition to three, or if you dont want to get into a war, steal the resources that will be losened through the conflict.

I am in full agreement that we should have it at the Galactic Core for now, unless ofcourse you would rather this Empire have its own.

I had earlier suggested inviting the Arrakis Imperium to come and share the Galactic Core with The Galactic Diplomats. I was surprised to see such a rapid approval. Our emperor, Drengin (he changes his nickname often), gave approval almost immediately and FC (Fuels Chief) is setting it up as we speak.

You will have access to all of the Core except for The Galactic Diplomats private area. You'll have a private area of your own as well. The only rub I see for the moment is that the poll area would be common. I've asked if we could set up individual polling areas within each of the empires private areas, but I'm not sure if this can be done or not.

I suggest that all Arrakis Imperium members go to the The Galactic Core and register (all you need is an email address). Once your private area is ready you'll be all set to go. Welcome to the Galactic Core.    Actually both Vukasika and TheGreatEmperor are already welcomed members.

Yep, everything is up and running, another round of thanks is in order.

Its says kryo has posted, but he hasnt... starnge.

For clarification, polls can be set up in any thread, private or public. I'd encourage all of the readers of this post/thread to check out the "Core".

WWW Link

It is a non-empire affiliated site for fans of the game. (Anyone in an empire and anyone NOT in an empire is welcome.)

BTW, if you're a member of an empire PM (private message) me there and I'll see what I can do about stting up a private area for your empire.

Glad to have Vuka and TGE as members...Hidar, you're next!!!

Thanks Chip, I didn't realize that. Good to know.

Actually, I hope to see *all* Arrakis Imperium members at the Core soon.

I'd also like to reiterate what Chip said. The Galactic Core itself is empire neutral, GalCiv II friendly and *all* are welcome. There is no requirement to be in any empire. The Core currently hosts seperate private areas for The Galactic Diplomats and the Arrakis Imperium. Any other empires that don't have their own website (or even ones that do) are welcome to join us at the Core and have your own private area as well.

The Galactic Core also hosts Kryo's AltMeta2 in a seperate domain (I think that's the right terminology).
