1 thing though. The pulse phasers dont look like Pulse phasers at all the look like the games orig bullets recoloered orange.

No offense though and try to track the ship crashing bug thing mine does it a tiny bit and its a little annoying

And just so you know, there is no such thing as constructive criticism. People either are giving compliments or criticizing. When a parent points out a childs mistake the child, (even teenagers), are not going to say "Thankyou for pointing that out to me ..." They know they have messed up. When was the last time you were in a room and somone said that to their parent after being criticized?



I’m sorry, I know this is old (chuckling to myself) but I just couldn’t keep quiet... in fact I had to laugh at this comment. It really says something that he used a child... or maybe “even teenagers” to support his argument. I think every one expects this kind of behavior from a 4 year old. So if that’s the case, I guess ill let the comment slide. As for the rest of us grow adults (even us nerdy trekies) I LOVE THIS MOD!! excellent work! and thank you sooo much for your hard work. it really is very much appreciated.

Parts as in on the mod web it says dl in pieces and you dl part 1 part 2 etc.

Anyone still crashing ingame?

Theres still a bit of me thats thinking it could be just a problem on my end, but i still cannot engage certain single ships. eg: single dominion small craft, transports (this includes my own transports trying to assault a planet in a fleet), enemy transports orbiting planets that i am trying to cap will also crash the game and finally mining facilities and starbases.

I am still able to go around attacking mining bases with defiant class ships. My defiant layouts are generally just mass drivers, torpedoes, shields and armor.

As far as i can tell, any of the other previous errors i had listed in my previous post havnt cropped up which is fantastic and even though i experence a couple of crashes due to the issues listed above i still play the mod for hours when i'm able to get play time in =].

Anyway, i can always post my debug if i'm the only person who seems to be still having these issues. Sorry to haggle you guys about it =[

No I have the Federation Engaging Borg prob but thats it. The borg r too easy for me anyway so i never have them ingame

I agree. The Borg are easy. We're working on tweaking the races. We're also looking at minor race problem. Hopefully we'll have a fix for that shortly.

I don't agree, that the borg are easy, because in my games they are always amoung the super powers and often eleminating some of the other species. Btw the difficulty-setting of all races in my games is intelligent.

Just want to say that the spec and bump maps for the Nx-01 and the NCC 1701 are in the library... I know it's only 2 ships, but real life has taken over... anywho, I hope some of you guys get some use from them.

Hello! First thanks to the modders,I really enjoy the work done so far and i'm a very Star trek fan so keep up the good work !
I need help on this one , i play with the DA version of the star trek mod, and the game crash each second time the council unite and return to window (perhaps because of too many races, perhaps the appearance of a specific race make the game crash? i can't find an issue here).
Perhaps someone has the same problem ? can you help me this mod is really awesome and i can't play it in good conditions.

Hey, went rather meticulously through the bugs and support section to see if it was my comp that was doing the evil crashing when going into combat against single ships or certain ship classes as i've posted before..

This is me loading up savegame and moving to attacking some stacked Cardassian pirates, so hopefully it wasnt as long and tedious as some other debugs i've seen..

Any idea's as to why the music in this mod is not working? I extracted all the files into the correct location. I've even listened to them outside the game, I'm unsure as to why I also have to turn my music volume up past 100% by additional 50% just to hear anything similiar, even than only getting regular music. It is just with this mod as regular game and outside the game work fine. Any ideas please?

Just installed the DA latest version of this wonderful mod...I just got two questions which could have been addressed earlier, but I cannot seem to find it.

1. While playing as either the Dominion or the Borg, the Control Panels seem to be quite dark. It's so dark I cannot even see the sliders when adjusting taxes & construction spending. I had to raise my monitor's brightness and contrast to 100, to eventually see the sliders but faintly. The Dominion I can tell has a hint of purple in it's panels & sliders, Borg just seems to be black.

2. And most important question of all, I have "no list of ships" to build in the shipyard from any race I may decide to play with. No scouts, colony ships, constructors...nothing hehe!

Can I please get some feedback from any ST mod player or programmer?

I did a clean install of the 2 mod files to the DarkAvatars/Mods folder as instructed from page 1. No matter what race I start a new game with I see no ships available to be built. And in the tech tree I see all the Racial Tech Trees at 5000+ weeks completion time.

Please assist if possible...I would like to get the ball rolling in enjoying this mod and at least settling on more than 2 planets LOL.

I might be able to help. First of all, I think you have to create your own designs with the models that they give you. and second, at least for me, I know I have to research warp threoy and warp 1 to get any engines.

I do also have a question. I have the same problem with the gam crashing when firing against certain ships. I am posting by debugger thing aswell. Ohh and does it matter if I have the Gold edition? I added the mods folder to the default game. The one in C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2. And I can acess the DA mod. But when I create a mods folder in the C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar I am unsure if it shows up or not. The use mod selecter in the options thing still says its looking at the location C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2. I am wondering If I have to download the DL version or if the DA version is adiquite. I tell you, I couldn't find Dark Avatar in any of the local stores, I could only fidn the gold pack and I already owned dreadlords so....ya.. Anyways, here is my Debug thing.

Thanks Zephey, good to know someone still visits this forum. :o) The idea of making my own designs using the mod's ship models was never thought of by me, glad you brought that to my attention and now I'm beginning to enjoy the game. Can you possibly help me with my two other questions though?

1. Did you notice on your install of the mod while playing the Borg or Dominion how dark the Panel is? Like the extreme difficulty in seeing the sliders when adjusting taxes, and no borders between the tech trees and planetary buildings. Only two races listed above I notice this graphical flaw.

2. The Racial Tech Trees (ex: Borg Tech Tree, Ferengi & others) why are they like 5000 weeks till completion even when I have a full 100% allocation going to research? I even saw one tech tree being 17000 weeks till completion, is that normal? Or is there some sort of config file I need to modify or delete?

I can answer that last question. The panels are supposed to be that dark, its what the modders decided to do for the colors of those races.
As for the other race tech trees beside your own being so many turns like 1000's to research...its supposed to be like that because your not supposed to be able to research them. In star trek, the federation doesn't develop romulan technology do they. Same here, it was designed for you to only be able to research your own race/faction's hull tech tree so you get only your faction's ship hulls and not end up with feds running around with borg cubes for example

I wanted to give you guys an update on the mod. Currently we are down to two active mod team members. Renfl has decided to take some time off and we’re unsure when he’ll return. So KnightBlade and I will pick up the slack until he returns.

Due to some minor problems we have decide to rebuild it from scratch. We worked on it this weekend and have it rebuilt to a solid format which we have been testing. We are adding one race at a time to make sure there aren’t any issues. We are also adding hull progression for each major race. I can assure you we are taking the mod to a whole new level and will provide updates as we go along. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Knight and I. We’ll be more than happy to answer them.

Gladly appreciate one of the original founders of this beta mod addressing the latest news on it. I do have some questions though...When you say rebuilt it from scratch due to some minor problems, how long will this rebuilt take (days, weeks or months)? I could be wrong but isn't this beta mod approaching its one year anniversary? And if it’s a minor problem which I can say I've noticed while playing why the rebuilt from scratch?

It would be great if you and Knight specifically target the crashing and not so much on the memory problems and misc. You have a great mod here which looks already inches away from being declared a full version why not push right now to close the deal on it? When Renfl returns from his vacation all three of you can add nice new features, tech trees and races as "updates" to the Full Version. Don't get me wrong I absolutely praise the efforts you guys went through, even the hacker issue I read a few posts back. But don't put all the efforts to vain by restarting all those long hours. Focus on calling this mod a full version with little crashing or none at all before that one-year mark is reached. Just keeping it real - the loyal fans of this mod whose been sweating for months for completion would be quietly depressed with another long-term delay.

I downloaded the mod and everything works great, the only problem I am having is the game crashes everytime there is a united Planet Conferance meeting thing. I met the Terran Alliance (Star Trek Enterprise Guy, I'm playing as the Feds) and after a couple of weeks it tells me a Counsel Meeting will occure next week. When I hit the turn button the game crashes whats wrong?

Great job on the mod and keep up the great work, finally I get Star Trek Ships, it was a pain to try and customize them yourself.

Sly try getting the latest DA patch if you havent already. Borg are way to easy btw I play on highest difficulity and beat them easily
