Abhorent technology details / descriptions

Has anyone bothered to rewrite the atrocious technology details? The text that shows up when you've researched a new technology?

I mean, it really takes me out of the game when I'm quite immersed in the sci-fi atmosphere, and my technology director informs me:

"Shield defense is good. It keeps us from getting hit with stuff. And junk. Look, marketing has the day off and someone had to finish the description."

I mean, come on.

Here's an example of what I'm working on. In the original tech description, the writer states that the Ion Drive actually moves faster than the HyperDrive Plus. Of course, this isn't true (the latter is simply smaller). I'm not going to pack it full of ridiculous detail. I'm in pursuit of verisimilitude, not nerdy fiction.

"The Ion Drive is an advanced stage engine superior to the HyperDrive Plus. Using brand new technology, we've designed an engine completely unlike previous iterations. In our endeavor to create smaller ship engines, the ship component cost has increased and the speed of the engine remains constant.

New ship components:
- Ion Drive (Cost:7, Speed:1, Size:4 + 10% hull size)

New research options:
- Impulse Drive (propulsion)"

As I said, I will change the descriptions to something nice for those who want it.
