I HATE autofocus

I HATE autofocus

Whenever I get done moving a ship the interface seems to always autofocus on the next available ship with moves. I HATE that and I can't seem to find the option to turn it off. There's been too many times where I'm moving a number of battle fleets to a specific quadrant and after each one autofocus takes me to a construction scow on the other side of the sector.

So my first question is, is there such an option and I'm just not lookin in the right place? If not what do I have to do to convince the devs to put such an option in the next patch. I'm a little dissapointed that this didn't make it into the last patch, I can't be the only one that this annoys.

Yeah, this is quite annoying considering it is so easy to hit TAB to go to the next ship. Add a toggle please!

I personally like the feature and would want to keep it on, as it helps remind me to move ships etc.

Of course it can be slightly annoying. Having a key/button that takes you back to your last previous location would be the bomb!

Sorry Stardock, but I have to agree autofocus is unwashed underpants, and really naffs up my game when trying to keep where the action is, real double naff feature.

I find it horrible, but it doesn't seem that Stardock has anyone who likes doing UI work.

I couldn't let this one go ... UI work is what Stardock does to provide for its gaming addiction Check out pretty much anything besides Gal Civ on www.stardock.com. More UI stuff than you can shake a stick at. With enough patience, you could probably reprogram the UI yourself using desktopX, but I'm not sure how.

I also like the autofocus, since I zoom out all the way anyway and don't play on very large maps. I don't want to hit the find-button or tab all the time one of my ships has finished moving. But as long as it's an option, I don't care.

You can turn off autofocus. Options, Interface, Shipmovement, uncheck the box "follow autopilot ships."

I hate autofocus. It should be optional. I am sure some masochists would like to have it enabled. I personally do not like being dragged to some constructor I have sitting in the corner while I await for funds to build a starbase.

In early game its nice but later on becomes pain. One more vote for option.

For those that haven't read the recent journals...

** Auto-Focus on next availabe Ship with Moves **
OMG!
Perhaps I never payed attention…perhaps it’s worse playing on a large Galaxy…I don’t know, but I wanted to KILL auto-focus half-way through my last game. Cari’s currently turning this into an option…one that I will promptly disable.

...and CariElf:
[...]So maybe the mods dialog isn't that exciting, but I'll bet you get excited about this: I have the Auto-Focus option working. I put in code so that when the Auto Focus option is OFF, the camera will not move to center on a ship unless the ship select message has been sent by something initiated by the user. The ship is still selected, so you can hit the C key to center on it if you want to change its orders. This will also let you use the goto button to set its destination. I found this useful because I could center on a rallypoint waiting for my ships to arrive so that I could form them into fleets, and just assign ships whose destination was cancelled to be rallypoint I was watching.
