I HATE autofocus

Whenever I get done moving a ship the interface seems to always autofocus on the next available ship with moves. I HATE that and I can't seem to find the option to turn it off. There's been too many times where I'm moving a number of battle fleets to a specific quadrant and after each one autofocus takes me to a construction scow on the other side of the sector.

So my first question is, is there such an option and I'm just not lookin in the right place? If not what do I have to do to convince the devs to put such an option in the next patch. I'm a little dissapointed that this didn't make it into the last patch, I can't be the only one that this annoys.

Me too. It can get pretty annoying. But other Times its extremly helpful.. So its a toss up really. Its kinda like Girlfriends Can't kill em, or live without them..

It's very annoying and not at all useful, since TAB or Find take me to the next ship, but there's no key or button to take me back. This desperately needs to be an option.

As a girl, I find that kind of off-topic, sexist sarcasm somewhat distasteful : grow up, kid...and join the IIIrd Millennium.

It's been mentioned about a billion times. But still not changed.

Especially when you exit a planet across the map and BAM you are taken to the opposite side for some scout that has free turns left.. GRRRR

Someone at SD must like this feature

I hate it. I wish it was optional.

Yes, I would much prefer it be optional.

Make a big enough fuss, and we might be able to get it fixed. Dear God Almighty this feature is annoying. To quote, "I mildly dislike it with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns."

Alas no...

YESSSSSSS! I hate it also. The option would make my life much better. Along with winning the lottery...

Kill it. Kill it for good. I especially HATE it when in the later game I have about 15 planets churning invasion vessels, and every time I launch one, I get teleported seven systems away to look at some patrol ship/constructor/xyz. Then, I have to go find that invader... which means, I need to zoom in closer(I play at max possible distance that doesn't show the icons yet).

BUMP! This thread is still on the first page but let's keep it at the top of the first page! lol.

I agree that autofocus can be annoying and an option to turn it off would be welcome.

OK, I also agree that it should be optional.
Since tab or find works just fine. No need to jump me to the other side of the map. I'll do it later... always later.

Yes, a "disable Ship Auto foucus" option would be very usefull. Though I have to admit, it isn't quite as bad (without the option) as you guys make it out to be.

I don't find it horribly awful, but I agree the option to disable it would be nice.

Me too! Me too! I hate it too! Please please get rid of it!

I find it horrible, but it doesn't seem that Stardock has anyone who likes doing UI work. Not that UI work is all that much fun - but if they had a single person, even part time, concentrating on the UI there might be some consistency and/or improvements.

The UI is one of the weakest remaining parts of the game, and the UI issues should be resolved. I'm all for keeping this topic on the front page until somebody important notices and adds the option. Let's have a poll - who would turn it off straight away? Me, +1.

I twenty-second that! Especially in the bigger galaxies. But I have often had problems where i have already selected another ship and am about to click to tell it to move somewhere when it whizzes me 6 sectors away, often to some ship that I need all the MP i can squeeze it for, and when the click happens, i send the ship somewhere i don't want it.

there are quite a few threads (made one myself a few weeks ago) about this, but no mention of a future change, no, its not game breaking, but if you added up all that time re-aquiring the next ship you acctually wanted to move, instead of the next ship in the UI's list of ships to move, it would mean ALOT of time saved over the course of a game, especially on gigantic maps.

I know one can turn off the auto focus on the survey ship when it hits anomolies, but you no longer recieve a message on what it found... Few other options similar to, but I don't know if one could turn off the auto focus on ships moving.

Hate the autofocus, must be able to disable it.
