A Stargate Total Conversion Mod

Would Be So Sweet

Ive seen alot of talk of Babylon 5, Star Trek and Starwars total conversion mods but no sign of a single stargate one. Is anyone out there interested in forming a Stargate mod team? Reply if you think you might be up to it.

Not to rain on your parade (I'm a fan of Stargate too) but I just don't think it would work. The problem is, of course, that GalCiv and Stargate use different strategic models for space travel: although both hyperspace technologies are similar, there's no tactical equivalent to the stargate itself in the GalCiv universe, and without that the entire war dynamic, based around infantry columns and raiding parties, falls apart. Tauri tactics, especially, revolve almost exclusively around stargates and ground troops, but GalCiv is about naval power.

Although now that I think about it, we could just say that everybody simultaneously built IRISes and the Tauri built a decent space navy.

See my thread about Supergates. What you said about everybody building Irises could force all the powers to build a supergate system.

Or maybe I'm just obsessed with the concept of Ori supergates.

I'd very much like to see the Ori in game, though

Ori = Dreadlord!

Get me the Promy and I'll be happy. I just want the little bugger to be in my fleet. Is it me or do the ori battle ships look like giant toliet bowls.

I want He'taks myself. Especially Anubis and Apophis' flagships. The prommie would be pretty awesome aswell.

P.S. Its not just you. Thats why at Gateworld they are reffered to as toilet-class ships.

If some one can make a Star Wars and Star Gate TC mod that can works together i would be reeeeeally happy

You'd also need pine trees, lots of pine trees. Wouldn't be stargate without em.

I have no idea how far along this idea is or if anything is even being done for a SG Mod, but I was recently searching a forum for another game and found that they had made several SG ships for that game using 3dmax , so just though I would post the address here in case anybody is working on it, maybe they can use these models (with permission of course) to help speed work along. http://www.x3.xperiment.co.uk/Ashley/

I'd like to see someone make a ship that looks like the "Red Dwarf"

But Stargate is cool too..... Maybe you could make some weapons that look like the Go'uld Staff!

Sweet!
~~~~~~
I was gonna do a whole line of SG ships made with the ship editor in GalCivII, but then I got stuck on the Goa'uld mothership. How are you supposed to make a pyramid in that editor?!?!?
Then I tried uploading the models, except I couldn't figure out how...
Other than that, I'd be happy to help.
one thing! The asgard ships can very well be designed in the game as it is now! not entirely exact but quite
ah if you read the beginning of the game all of the races had stargates which for some reason they dumped these instant traval gates for hyperspace sorry there was one race that didn't have the gates
back to what the thread was about is there any out there that are working on at mod???
Reply #22 Top
lets face it : the right game for a stargate mod is Oblivion -> it already has lots of trees and gates
You can't make a TC mod on Stargate. As someone said Stargate is more of a ground troop kind of thing. Think about it, Stargate is about 10 seasons into the seris & how many ships do the Tauri have? They have no more than 5 at this point. Theres little variety when it comes to the ships in Stargate in terms of super naval combat. Now I would not mind if someone made a few models that you could install into the game for your own personal use such as the X-303s, Ha'tak vessels, Asgard vessels, Wraith Hive ships, F-302 fighters, Deathgliders etc.
Anyhow where the hell do you see a Star Wars TC around here? That you could make a TC of which is something I would love to see. You probably could make a TC off of BSG as well. Cylon Raiders against Vepr pilots that would be pretty cool.
Well the Goa'uld have enough ship designs, they have 2 for cargo hull(Tel'tak, Drop Ship), 1 for small(Death Glider), 1 for tiny(Gate Glider), 1 for medium(Al'kesh), and 2 for large(Ha'tak, and the Pyramid Ha'taks Ra & Heru'ur used), and 2(Apophis's Super Hatak, Anubis's Mothership) for huge.
Tau'ri have 1 small design(F302), 1 Medium(prommy fits the role..), and 1 large(Daedalus). Could use Tel'tak as cargo hull until they get their own?...
The Wraith have 1 small(Scout Ship), 1 tiny(Dart), 1 medium(wraith cruiser), and 1 large(Hiveship). I also remember them having somekind of supply ship..
The Asgard have 1 medium(Daniel Jackson Class, though its primarily a science vessel..), 1 Large(Beliskner Class), and 1 huge(O'neill class).
