Product Activation

I have a query that will probably sound dumb but here goes! I have downloaded the most recent 1.0x patch on an internet connected pc and applied it to my GalCiv 2 install which is on a non-internet connected pc. Whenever I am asked to submit my serial number for product activation I cannot connect to the net to do so!! Is there anyway around this or any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Splink

For activation trouble or activation for an offline system, please follow this guide.

If you are using an online computer, complete steps prefixed by A
If you are using an offline computer, complete steps prefixed by B

A -Disable your internet connection
AB-Open up the application (to get it to attempt activation) on the system you would like to install to.
AB-Enter your email and Product/Object Desktop serial *
(If you see the cursor, |, you should be able to paste information using Ctrl+V)
AB-The activation will fail because it cannot contact the server.
AB-Click "Yes" (You would like to activate by email)
AB-Click "Yes" (You purchased your software from Stardock)
A -Re-enable your internet connection
B-Take all of the information to an online system.
AB-Copy the subject and body and paste it into the appropriate fields of an email to [email protected]

*Please ensure you use the correct serial number when activating. Your serial number should consist of a 28-digit alphanumeric string. Your registration information may be retrieved automatically via email by entering your email address at https://www.stardock.com/support

You will receive further instructions from there.

Same problem
Went through this exercise to no avail.
Fix you update software
Two hours of fiddling and have not played the game
Is the game worth the effort? I have no idea.

Yes! be a little patient & you'll be grateful later on.

I thought with Gal civ the user wasn't supposed to have to activate the game with a serial number. ie, no copy protection. Surely the best way to solve this (rather than going backwards and forward between two computers) is to only allow downloads if the game has been registered onlinem, except that is for needed bug fixes.

I have the same problem as the first poster. I can play normaly before patching to 1.0X. Now I cannot activate the game since my main computer does not have Internet connection. Following the instructions from WishX has not solved the problem (the reply to the email I sent only says to enter correctly my address and serial number). Has anybody found a solution to this?

My question is:  Did Stardock make a mistake and include activation by accident or was it intentional all along and that was one of their bugs that they fixed?

If it was required all along, where was this mentioned on the web site?  I know it may be in the ula, butg that does no good AFTER you bought the product. Returns are not likely.

Since I am a developer, I reimage all my systems quite often to keep corruption out. This activation stuff will not work for
