Product Activation

Product Activation

I have a query that will probably sound dumb but here goes! I have downloaded the most recent 1.0x patch on an internet connected pc and applied it to my GalCiv 2 install which is on a non-internet connected pc. Whenever I am asked to submit my serial number for product activation I cannot connect to the net to do so!! Is there anyway around this or any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Splink

My question is:  Did Stardock make a mistake and include activation by accident or was it intentional all along and that was one of their bugs that they fixed?

If it was required all along, where was this mentioned on the web site?  I know it may be in the ula, butg that does no good AFTER you bought the product. Returns are not likely.

Since I am a developer, I reimage all my systems quite often to keep

Hmm...seems Galciv 2 does indeed have copy protection - or whats the activation requirement stuff all about?
Well I've sent the activation e-mail off. I'll post back when I get a reply and if it works. The whole thing is a bit of a shambles even though I'm sure the intention was decent

Why is my post all screwed up?  Looks like it posted every keystroke. Could a moderator fix this?

I can't edit. I wanted to share that I sent again the activation email following Senator WishX instruction and it worked I recieved a file that should be copied to the game directory to complete the activation. I possibly entered incorrectly the serial number the first time.

the "no copy protection" feature advertised means you don't need the CD in your drive to play the game. it doesn't mean they invited everyone to copy the game freely and endlessly.

i got the impression that patches were only available by download before i bought the game. to quote the website:

No CD copy protection. Once you install, you never need your CD again. You can even use the included serial # to re-download the entire game from us years from now.

that says no CD copy protection, not "no software piracy protection."
