Galactic Civilizations II: Quick Video Demo

The main UI in action

https://www.galciv2.com/databank/galciv-1.wmv

Galactic Civilizations II is less than a week away.  And we will be putting out a demo of the game after it's released.  But we wanted to put some quick gameplay stuff out there.  This is just a little thing we made that shows how the main UI works.

If people find this useful, we can do more.  Cheers!

...wow

Feel free to post lots more videos.

As is often the case with games...screenshots simply do not capture just how awesome a game might look.

Same for me! But I learnt it a few hours ago while looking at the tutorials.

But the nice lady wasn't saying "Drengin" nearly quite as often as Brad did.

And my vote goes out to "yess masster... we must be havink more of thiss".

Oh come on....did you really think we wouldn't want more? Sounds like from the way that first one ended all abruptly that it went on a while longer. I know we'd all like to see more.

I think I'd like to see a whole game played out DVD commentary style...where you have 3-4 of the key developers in a room, and you all play the game and talk about what the AI is doing, how the graphics engine works, how you arrived at one design option vs. another option...etc. Hell I'd probably pay money for that...but it would have to be a decently long game, maybe an hour or two. I'm a sucker for DVD commentary. I've bought a couple of games that have some bits of "the making of this game" type material, but never an actual play-through of the game. In most games this just isn't practical, but I'm sure it could be with yours.

If I were producing that I'd either do it where the developers are in a room playing the game live and commenting, or they play the game ahead of time, record it and comment on a playback. They both have merits.

Great idea.

One thing though.. Could you please indicate how big the links are. For those of us over the other side of the Atlantic, the speed we receive data at is somewhat reduced and it would be nice knowing how big a file we are looking at downloading

MeridianMales suggestion would be absolutely supreme! I always love a good developers comentary, and doing it like that would be so cool!

You, sir, are a genius.

Even more so if you can actually talk them into doing this.

Hehe, me too.

I always thought the 'gin' was like in 'begin,' and not like the alcoholic bevv'ridge. I got used to it during the length of the extremely awesome video, however. More, please

Amazing clip! I would love to see more of these. Some tutorials from beginners to advance would be amazing.

Thanks a lot Brad

kinda offtopic but in the video you said that you rotated the game by holding down the middle mouse button now i only have the left right setup so how do i get that control that you had with the rotation?

Add me to the whole "hard g vs. soft g" mixup. No wonder the Drengin hated the humans... half the population was probably pronouncing their race name wrong!

But yes, more videos, please!

(Incidentally, you have a cool voice, Mr. Wardell. Makes me remember the times of hanging out with my Michigan-accented relatives.)

Peace & Luv, Liz

Really cool, nice to see some actual gameplay... and yeah, I'm in the mis-pronounced the word "Drengin" boat too!

I second this question as well.

Great video, by the way! Now I want this game even more! I laughed out loud when you called the Torians "losers" for not filling up their troop transport.

Didn't work for me to click it, but a right-click / save worked.

Not very useful, but definitely enjoyed. Watched it three or four times now.
