I think Pond Scum comes up when your game is cheater flagged.

I've played two games while not being good aligned, I haven't had it happen. I don't know if that's any more help. I'm going to try playing as pure evil the next game, and then another as good. Hope any info I'm giving helps.

Yea I was lower score wise militarily. Althogh my ships would have mopped the floor with them, being that I had good defense against their type of weapon.

Hmm, I have save games where this occured, but since it seems random I can't reliably produce it. Let's see: I was at war with the dregin. I was allied with everyone except the Korx, Dregin, and Yor. During the computers turn I agree to a peace treaty (w/o actually doing anything on my end) I am notified of this treaty at the begining of my turn via a diplomacy icon. I was Xeno-Ethics good. I was playing a game last night as the Iconian's. I kept signing peace treaties with people I'd go to war with. The problem is I wasn't actually doing that. I'd just get a message that I'd signed a peace treaty with whoever I was at war with. Is this a side effect of being good? If so I haven't had it happen before today.

I voted for polotics. I'd love tactical battles if they included transporters/ship takeover. Everyting on that list would be great though. Espionage wasn't on the list, but that's what I want the most.

I couldn't agree more. I bought a popular strategy game from a mail-order-only Game developer. I really liked the game, but I lost the CD. Upon trying to contact them, I needed to have either the CD or the manual to get another copy of the program. It made me pretty irate that'd I'd spent the money on the game and I couldn't play it any longer. What were my options at that point? Either buy the game again, pirate it, or not play it. I figured I just wouldn't play it.

I'm a big fan of espionage in these games. The more the better. The game isn't suffering for it, but it could be much better with it. Epionage and anti-espionage techs would rock.

Are you talking about Hypercomputers? I'm pretty sure you can get those w/o creativity.

I have the same problem. Mine says normal where it should say challenging. I hear you have to play 1 game on the difficulty HIGHER then the one you're on to get them to balance out. Since you played the 1 game on challenging it's causing the medal to "round down" to challenging.

The advice the last poster gave was spot on.

I love random events and would never shut them off. They add a lot of flavor. I've had this happen to me in one of my first games. The systems were far and they were PQ15 planets. I immediately switched all military production to colony ships and I got the majority of them for myself. In the last game I played I had almost conquered the galaxy with an ally, and their leader was assassinated and he and I went to war instantly. I still won because he was grossly unprepaired

Well, if you kill them all, there's no one left to assimilate. Your remaining soldiers which are left behind (and become the planets new population) don't need to assimiliate. They're part of your culture already.

Yep, the only way it's certain is if they're "close" and they have the alliance tech.

It didn't happen to me with my lastest game, the previous 2 showed up as cheating though. I don't think it has to do with saving it, just some bug with the beta.

Just a word of advice (I didn't know how to activate it either), when you have a question that's probably been asked, try the search feature on the boards. There are like 30 threads on this. (not trying to be a jerk at all, I mean this to be helpful)
