The caimanoids are posted and are pending approval. themocaw - I had been thinking of doing something along the lines of a classic B-Movie scifi space vixen, which is sort-of like your request. Lukas - your idea is not far off from that...so both are on the list. SCPX - thanks for the additional details on the orb. JubJub - devil guy is on the list now. Sir Nasty - The cobra is do-able. themocaw - the symbiotic mollusks might take some time,
Formis6
Hi all - sorry I haven't been to the forums for a few days...got busy at work. General Pants - your caimanoid will be finished this weekend. I looked up several reference photos to sculpt the head into a fairly caiman-like shape. I think I have it fairly close. I also combined the idea of the reddish skin of the false gharial with the striping of the black caiman, though I am still tweaking the shading (the red needs more of a brown tint and the stripes look too blue, instead of blackish).
Formis6, if you do enough of these things, I'll make a mod replacing the main races with ones based on your race animations. With your permission, of course. Please feel free. Anything that improves the usefulness of the race sets would be great.
Tsed and JeremyG - The space pirate and rogue traders are posted and are pending approval. General Pants - The caimanoids should be rolling out soon. millertime335 - A hologram race could be an interesting texturing challenge because of the transparencies involved. I will give something along those lines a shot, although I will not be replicating anything from Halo. StormWeaver - a crystalline race could be fun to try also...again challenging texturing. JubJu
Tsed - I will probably be posting the completed space pirate sometime Saturday. I am nearly finished with him. With each new set I do, I try out some new technique for modeling/animating, and I tried some new animation techniques with the pirate, but they gave me some trouble - so it took longer than I expected. Jeremy - Your rogues will probably be finished Saturday also. Notice the plural. <
The guy is younger and looks less 'battle hardened' (no scars or such) than i imagined That's why I only made him a colonel instead of a general I will have to be more scruffy with the pirates and rogues!
The space marines are finished and are awaiting approval.
Kodiak, I am very nearly finished with the space marines. It is the most detailed set I have done thus far. Not only did make a custom race insignia, I made an entire set of space marine themed insignia. There is a "national" logo, five colors of "Space Marine Corps" logos, and a "Space Marine Corps" bumper-sticker style logo. All of theme have a bear theme incorporated. I also designed custom military rank insignias (for all officer and enlisted ranks), and a Martian landscape sty
Hey all...thanks for the great ideas. Kodiak - I have some interesting ideas for your Space Marines. I am also working on a full set of logos to go with. I am working a bear claw theme into the logos, to play off your screen name. I hope you will like them. Tsed and Jeremy - I actually was thinking about a space pirate/rogue race myself. I am putting together several sets with this theme. I am glad that others were thinking along the same lines. General Pants - Love the crocodilian idea.
I wouldn't mind a human-ish military space marine type of race set. I am working on it for you Kodiak.
you maybe join our community and talk with us about modding galciv2 Thank you also, Stefan. I will consider your offer to join the I-Mod community.
Some of you may have seen some of my customized sets of race pictures and movies in the library. If you are interested, I am taking requests for custom made race sets. You can email your request to [email protected]. Give me a description of what you would like to have made and I will do my best. I do have a few rules, however... 1. I am doing this for fun and for free - it takes a lot of time to make a set, so if you send a request, please be patient. Also, I have a job th
Kryo: I have posted another set of custom race pics and movies. Thanks
Any chance you could anti-alias the videos too? Yes - I can actually do videos with the same quality as the still renders, but it takes much longer processing time. I wanted to expedite the mods, so I reduced render quality on the videos. If I set up the machine to run over night I can have higher quality videos. Perhaps I will make a v2.0 of the mods.
Kryo, I have posted my first two mods for approval. All of the pictures and movies are original renderings. If you would be interested in a Kryo themed set, email me specifics and I'll see what I can do.
I know that the stats for ship length, span and crew complement are tied to the size of the hull. Is there any way to mod these values?
I tried re-doing the effects as a mod folder - and now it works. The only thing that was different was an update of Dark Avatar itself. At any rate, I thought the you might be interested to know that your effects mod can be run entirely from a separate mod folder for those that do not wish to copy the mod to the main directory of DA. I am looking forward to future versions of your weapons effects...they are great!
The new beta seems to be working great. Graphical glitches are gone. Thumbs up to Mr. Brindle on the creative solution to the AMD problem.
Stefan, I like the v2.0 Beta...the turret effects are really cool. I have a question though, originally, I tried to set-up the weapon effects to work from a mod directory, rather than installing in the main folders. The mod didn't work. What I discovered is that you can keep the GC2Types.xml file in a mod folder (rather than overwriting the original GC2Types.xml file), but the GFX and SFX files have to be in the main folders, otherwise it doesn't work. Do you (or any of teh devs tha
I guess we could argue endlessly I prefer to think of our civil exchange as a discussion. There has been too much by way of true argument and ad hominem attacks in the fora recently, and I think we all need to remain civil and respectful of one another. Your response serves as an example of "gentlemanly" and polite behavior. we're happy all around Amen and amen! I co
1) The matrix deformation (ships looking weird) is caused by a bug in Microsoft's SDK that was fixed by Microsoft awhile ago. However, the updated SDK doesn't support Windows 2000, ME, or 98. We have worked around this by using a different call when the processor is an AMD so all is well. I was composing my earlier post when this was written...so if I understand correctly (at least from the perspective of graphical distortions), the problem of u
The back of the box clearly states "Requires Win98, ME, 2000, XP". The back of the box also clearly states, "Minimum Requirements: Pentium III 800MHz or equivalent processor. 32 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card. Recommended Requirements: Pentium 4 1.8 GHz or equivalent processor. 128 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card." Many of us meet (or as in my case, exceed) even the recommended requirements, have entirely up-to-date drivers, yet
However, why doesn't nVidia's own website provide the most recent drivers for their own products? Answer - I just downloaded the 97.73 driver from guru3d...although it is an official nVidia driver - it is not intended to support my GPU. The drivers at guru3d are modded drivers, so that they can run GPUs other than originally intended. Call me an overly cautious old fart, but I am not running the risk of using a modded driver. Just a caveat for others.
You guys need to pay more attention to the download section of guru3d.com. The last driver version I used on my XP install a week ago was 97.73, and there are many more recent versions since that point. Great - However, why doesn't nVidia's own website provide the most recent drivers for their own products? Secondly, how is your "average" computer user (who tries to be diligent about driver updates, but has better things to do in life) supposed to know
By the way, nVidia does not seem to be releasing any new drivers for the GeForce 7 series. Well they already have a beta driver for the 7 series... I downloaded just today, but haven't installed it yet. Goes from 93.71 to 94. something. So, there is still support for the 7 series. Check out Nvidia's website and let me know if I'm wrong about this, but it's definitely worth checking out... it's a balloon a
