Civ2 managed to provide an almost magical balance, where everything worked together in a fluid and logical fashion. While the graphics improved in civ3 and 4, the different game elements started to scream for attention, and so the magic was lost, maybe forever. I feel it was a very refined and cleaned up product for it's time. With ties to board gaming perhaps.

Got distracted by this line in the same picture as previously mentioned: "Physical labor is considered too lowly to be considered honorable by some races." I do this myself a lot, especially when tired. But this line of text might benefit from a slight overhaul. Would personally revisit such text if applicable, and clean it up. You could for example write: "Physical labor is considered too lowly, to be regarded as honorable by some races." The problem lies i
To say this looks intriguing, is an understatement of epic proportions. Can't talk, busy.
Thanks for the update. I will take the time to comment on that border, it is for me a good example of how great design should be, maintaining visibility, and functionality, with enough attitude remaining to make an impression, without screaming for attention. This is clearly expertise.
Thanks for the good, hard, great work. You have done more than anyone can ask for. Short of an MMO, this game has received more love than anything out there. Maybe a global reduction of habitable planets can be made optional in the future? No doubt some of us actually found this change less devastating than the enormous disaster some vocal individuals made it sound like. Not everyone got supercomputers. For all it is wort
Get on with this month they call October I say. It surely must have been placed there to make the year appear longer. And darn did they accomplish that.
I just pre-ordered, this article was a nice reminder. And let this hard working person rest from time to time. Especially important if he should refuse.
Total surprise! Terror Stars you say? Fascinating. ---
Greetings. That block actually comes with a direction. Make sure your ships follows the arrow at the front of the block, or else you might end up with a "sidewinder". Use the ship views, to confirm that your front is where it should be.
Ohh.. Good old Strategy Plus. Used to buy magazines before I got internet. It's a bit sad. ---
As previously mentioned, upgrading numerous starbases can be a bit overwhelming as your empire grows. A "technology" that can automate this process at later stages, would surely help. The time sink should of course stay. I fondly remember a very old game called "Deuteros", where similar tasks tended to be automated when they started to become truly tedious. I am of course against too much automation, as the game should not play itself. But when you got a certain number of starbases, yo
Ascendancy had a wonderful direction, and feel. And as mentioned, not much of an AI. A very charismatic game, without a brain. Loved the weird aliens, they came with their own little tunes as well. It was worth it just to see the artwork and hear the music at the time. Elite is a chapter of it's own. A true classic. It is more of a "space simulator" than anything. Without much "real" physics of
This is the 4x game to get. The competition is a few parsecs away. After much hard work, a bit of deserved accolade for a solid game. Having a blast!
This is an incredibly important task. To preserve a most worthy and venerable genre. And Stardock came to save the day. Hip hooray! This person always, ALWAYS continued with the turn based strategy games for much MUCH longer than the real time strategy ones. Most real time strategy titles lacks depth. And if there is any, it's drowned in "blitz und glitz". And lack of support. Not to mention atro
That's brilliant news to round off the year. Congratulations and happy holidays!!! ---
689 votes now. And 14%. Not overly optimistic about the chances of GC II. But the fact that there is some good competition, means PC strategy games still have a life. Well, that's my broad and sweeping statement, to cover up any disappointment. ---
Very exciting developments. The inner workings will always come through, no matter how many layers of makeup they add. ---
Tis done. Got to support the real stuff. --
Nice and clutter free, with some air. And not a lot of fansy-pansy jazz, that detracts too much from the actual information. Good work, methinks. Do not get sore eyes.
The loading is smooth indeed. Well done!
Visiting the forums daily, quite the place to find proper reading material, I thought. So it's bad eh? Would never have known, if not for this thread.
Don't you need a spacesuit to hug a Stardock??? ( Huzzah for SD. *Clumsy hug* Ohh look it's full of shfzzzzz* There the space communication relay went offline again. Darn! )
Digital distribution is great, if you got a credit card. And live in some remote part of the world. No shipping, no delays, unless you count the download time. ( Which takes an hour or something for me. It's a no-brainer with a fair internet connection. ) This is good stuff. Will buy.
To make a true successor to X-Com: UFO Defense, you need aliens. No living human have the ability to recreate that one, because all their nifty ideas, based on contemporary influences, leads to a bad execution. Even the original creators started to drift... It is not possible.
Wow, what kind of pills do you guys eat, at Stardock? I want those, it must be the good stuff! J/K of course. Off to conquer the universe!
