Are these tips equally as true for ToA? What is a high score for ToA?

Thank you for the invite. The Kzinti are noble warriors indeed. However, I feel that at the sad age of 37, I am too much in my dotage to be one of the t'kzintar at this time, and have opted to donate my points to the Gerontocracy. I look forward to combating the fanged menace that has taken root in our galaxy. [e digicons];)[/e]
As a decrepit 37 year old may I join this empire? The young whippersnappers need to be taken to the woodshed. Not sure how often I can get in a game, but when I can, I'd like the points to go to the geezers.
My Korath Spore ship. I wanted something that looked vaguely organic and biological, that makes you pay attention when one of these things is on its way to inject your planet with something nasty. ;)
1. I have found that the AI does not intelligently handle military starbases, in terms of both placement and modules. In my last game (on crippling) the Altarians created military starbases that to all indications had no modules (after about five years). What is the point of a military starbase without modules? In another game (painful), the Drengin did the same with no less than 3 military starbases. It could be that these bases had ship assist modules but no stella
Thank you Sole. Good post and very helpful.
I've been playing the Arceans recently and they take some getting used to, but they are actually very powerful and fun to play. The key to playing them is that they take some time to get up and running and consolidated. Yes, they are slow, but keep in mind that they have the Weather Control Center which gives them net two more squares per planet. If you have 3 planets, it means that in effect you get another PQ6 planet, with the beauty that the squares are on already developed pla
From my recent games I'm finally getting around to writing up some nagging questions I have. These are, in no particular order: 1. Can starbases flip from influence? I tried placing an influence starbase near an opponent's resource mine and it didn't work. 2. Why do Drengin/Korath have so many morale structures and is it worth it to sabotage these? 3. Lately I have been playing Arceans, and it seems that Ad
Yeah, I have also noticed the AI's obsession with Space Mining. I'm not sure I understand about the tech rate, though. The rate is the same for all civs, bonuses working on the same base value. A normal rate allows me more time to build up my planet at every research stage, however, so e.g. I research research centers, I can get research centers built on all my planets before the next tech appears. It means I get my research centers before he builds 7 levels of missile
For what it's worth, if you're focusing your planets on research than your research centers are almost useless. Focus takes 25% of the other two productions and gives 80% of that value, or 20% (the full value or 25% in DL/DA) to the focused production-for instance, focusing research removes 25% of the base funded military and social values and transfers 20% of the base funded military and social values to research. Ok, I think I understand Willy, upon reflecting on your comment. You don't have to press the turn button. You place the agent, and invade. If it is with information warfare, the agent is unharmed (but with planetary bombardment, the agent is destroyed?). Some additional noob thoughts: Information warfare costs 800 clams and doesn't seem like it will work against high loyalty races, like the Drengin and Yor. What is weird to me is that both Drengin and Yor rely
Thanks. When you say the "next turn is processed" do you mean two presses of the turn button? So I plant the agent on the farm, I press turn, his pop is 10B, I press turn, his pop is 8B. Yes? Whereas, with the morale technique, I plant the agent on a morale improvement, I press turn, I invade with information warfare. What happens to agents in place when you conquer a planet? Do they get returned to the pool or are th
Suppose I have an opponent that has a normally 8B pop planet, but it's at 10B because he has an entry-level farm. Suppose that I sabotage that farm with an agent. Does he immediately lose 2B in population? Can I use this tactic in lieu of a mass driver tenderizing of the planet?
Just finished Arcea's Last Stand with a score of 13,250 on painful. Forgot to change Lord Vega to my handle. Here are some fun pictures. Not sure how to maximize score, But I got all the techs except the last three for a tech win. There are 5 terror stars, and I destroyed the Drengin's solar system prior to ascending. Note that the after his system was destroyed, it left as
Yes. I tried both the QuickSave and the AutoSave. With the autosave, a few turns pass, and then it happens. I tried logging in and out of the metaverse and back in, rebooted the computer. I ended up just starting a new game but I have the autosave (renamed) file I can send to you. It's the only time it happened to me after two campaigns.
For some random reason, in the middle of a tournament, after I hit the turn button, my screen got stuck on "find" and won't pan. Nothing I do seems to get it unstuck. I can rotate and zoom, but no pan. Please help.
Don't forget soldiering to be able to withstand invasions-alternatively, you can simply build an empty tiny hull on every planet every turn, but this won't be sufficient to stave off the invasions indefinitely. Sooner or later, they'll start arming their transports. One other trick you can try is to "let" them take a planet, then take it right back in an attempt to steal tech.
The tech stealing is ho
Greetings, I am playing I think the last mission in Twilight of the Arnor, where you have to destroy planet Kai'vox with a terror star. Well, I'm playing on painful mode, and I successfully destroy the sun around which Kai'vox orbits, making sure no dread lords enter the ring, and yet after I destroy the star, the game claims it as a defeat (and gives me a measly 3250 points)? What gives? Also, the game won't let me restart t
