The wiki claims that giving aid when they ask for it while at war helps. I haven't seen this in action, though.
Phaedyme
I just noticed this last night while looking at the various tech trees.
Trade the alliance tech to the other race, then the alliance option will become available.
This is a known issue in TA - pirates, Vegans, whatever, appearing with all the techs and then transcending.
I would love to have a diplomatic option to ask that specific units or colonies be disbanded. Like "Disassemble that influence starbase next to my homeworld." I really like banning minors from starbases as well. I'd rather not see tactical combat. I remember how mind-numbing it could get in MoO2. Also, as Brad pointed out, you either allow stuff to make the tactical combat interesting, which makes exploits possible (like time warp facilitator + phasing cloak) or you do what the game alr
Maybe +econ is due for a nerf, like the original planet quality bonus in GalCiv 1. I mean, it is fairly powerful. Of course, unlike PQ bonuses, econ and morale bonuses are scattered throughout the game.
I wonder if it would be sensible to link the Drengin super ability to researched hull sizes, or to another tech tree branch entirely, allowing you to get larger ships as reinforcements. So many other aspects of that strike me as a pain to balance - weapons, defense, number of ships - but just a thought.
If you want to prove that Creative triggers 25% of the time, you'll need to do some testing, I think. My experience using it is far from 25%. Either that or ask one of the Stardock people what it explicitly does. I mean, if you want to base your argument for changing it on the idea that it procs 25% of the time, it really needs to be demonstrated that it procs 25% of the time.
Kyro = Kryo. Stupid typos.
Check the properties on your shortcut - the command line path, specifically. I mean, I know running the exe works for you, but I wonder if there's something wacky about what the launcher is aiming at.
You can buy TA separately - I know I did a bit over a week ago.
Try running GC2DarkAvatar.exe ? Try starting it up from Stardock Central?
The first time I played, they wiped out the Drengin ahead of me by half a turn...the bastards. Once I just hit turn over and over again to see if the Altarians would do anything to the Drengin, and they just built starbases until the Drengin came to invade my one world.
Also, on the "sometimes it's too good, sometimes it's not good enough," thing? Sometimes I find a PQ 18 planet with two precursor archives close to my homeworld, and sometimes I never see a bonus tile. So what? Sometimes random favors you, sometimes it doesn't. That doesn't make Creative overpowered unless it favors you in every single game.
I've played many hundreds of turns over a handful of games with Creative over the past week, and I just haven't seen this happen 1/4 of the time.
Also, isn't there a hotkey to generate a new map if the starting situation sucks? I've never used it, but I recall Brad mentioning it in one of his AARs.
Okay! I didn't see anything after I scrolled down on one of the pages and saw GalCiv 1 available for $44.95. Mild hilarity ensued.
I check the wiki for something at least once a day. Now (after reading the bugs and requested features) I'm wishing that they'd just axe ship designs from the tech tree entirely, and unlock appropriately sized [i]templates[/i] when you research the technology to build that hull size. Plus, integrate Kyro's hull mod as part of the game. I don't ask for much, honest. :)
I wasn't offended, I'm irritated at the campaign game and took it out on you. I apologize for that. And I do agree that the AI is great in sandbox games, and some of the time in the campaigns.
Actually, was Altarian Prophecy ever sold separately from GalCiv 1? The only copy I ever saw in stores was both installments. I know you could buy it separately online, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Install Stardock for the DLL, and see if you can also install GalCiv 1 in addition to AP.
I've been picking it out of habit from GalCiv 1, in the hopes that if I played often enough, I could see it do something. When I played the Iconians in TA for the first time, I was getting a huge number of Creative procs. I haven't had such a perfect storm since, so I'd hesitate to assume this was normal. It was interesting to see, and I rather like Creative as it is now (how it usually plays out, that is).
Altarian Prophecy is an expansion for the first Windows GalCiv. So you need to purchase the game on [link="https://www.galciv1.com/purchase.asp"]this page[/link] to be able to run it. Of course, you'll then end up with two serials for Altarian Prophecy, so it might be better to go somewhere like [link="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-3301487-6197400?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Galactic+Civilizations"]this page[/link] where you can possibly find Galactic Civilizations or the ul
I think most forum homepages provide links to sites that will support their software, too. And most such sites are fairly inexpensive. [link="http://www.phpbb.com/"]phpBB might be worth checking out.[/link]
Thank [i]you[/i]. My games were getting bogged down and I hadn't thought to rearrange those particular settings.
