Thanks, MottiKhan. That was helpful. I'm now able to at least make the Major civs more interesting to play against by manually editing them in the race selection screen into either the "human" or "generic" AI personality. I still look for a way to change the minor race names, hopefully someone else reading this will know how to do that.

After getting the hang of the game I'm trying to brew my ideal version of it. I've read many threads on this forum and searched everywhere online. I've tried many different tweaks, but I can't seem to figure it out myself, so I'll ask it here in the hope someone knows the answer: 1. How do I edit the AI personality for races in GCII Ultimate Edition version (on Steam). 2. How do I edit the race names and descriptions in GCII Ultimate Edition version (
I was able to make a "mod" that makes the planet colonization events look a little less far fetched. I removed all the "magic precursor devices" events and replaced them with descriptions that attribute abilities to the planets themselves rather than devices that the precursors happened to have built on them in the past. I've kept the % stats the same. The reason for this is that I'm somewhat of a purist when it comes to TBS games. I thought it was inaccurate that an event wou
(Edited on 7 januari 2012) This was me explaining in a long winded manner how I was unable to change the karma modifier types and % value amounts in the events file. The "good" karma option seems to be bugged no matter what I try. I have therefore settled for only editing the event texts and leaving the values the way they were.
(Edited on 7 januari 2012) Thanks for the pointers, Soul!
(Edited on 7 januari 2012) This topic was me asking how to change text files in the minor events and the race names and descriptions. For anyone else who might be trying the same thing: Event texts: I own the "ultimate edition", and thanks to the poster under this message I was able to figure out how it works. I've been able to change the event texts in the game by editing Dark Avatar\Data\English\Events.XML Ap
This is a great read! Can't wait to see more developing.
I was playing in a huge galaxy, nine races on normal difficulty (advanced is where it starts getting too hard for me at my current level of experience). I selected the option where the stars were spread out, and habitable planets are "uncommon". Unfortunately I'll have to discontinue this AAR already, as there was a duplicate Terran Alliance in the game. Apparently the game uses my own custom races as well, and picked my custom terran race as one of the random AI em

(deleted on 8 januari 2012, will restart this AAR once I found the right mods to make fighting the AI's a little more interesting to watch.)
I recently bought GC2. Because it was the illustrated AAR written by qrtxian that convinced me to try the game I wanted to create my own as well. So I want to give a big thank you to him! I also want to thank whoever created the "midnight" shipset for the Terrans, which I now use whenever I play the humans, including the game I'll describe here. I'm going to start my own story driven AAR inspired by "Yet another Terran AAR". Being a story, I'm going to act things out in a
