Hi Fistleaf - I was pretty confused about the MV myself a fews months ago but I am very glad I started playing there. There are basically several groups of players who clump together as teams. you may also form your own team if you like. You still play an individual game, but your scores are recorded both individually and as part of your group. The best part of the MV is that there are a lot of experienced players there who will help you up your game a lot and it is a ton of fun to belong to

@KP, I think we basically tied. I just finished my latest game and got the same score you did...900k. For the same reason too. I couldn't get the econ event for love or money. [e digicons]X([/e] I know some people have the patience to just keeping looping back, over and over again, looking for the econ event but I just don't seem to have that much discipline or patience. I tried a few loops but got frustrated and bored so I just played it out sans
Fantastic game Motti! I'd love to talk you into playing TA....I know you would find lots of incredible insights that elude me!
@Snark - What?!?! The Killzone computers don't help military score???? OMG. (Here CL breaks down into whimpers of frustration and pain). I've been patiently nurturing the Korath for the last two weeks and the last two games trying to get them to build Killzone's for me. I could have finished both these games much earlier if I had known this. Thank you for bringing this to my attention (and thanks to SS for discovering it). Good karma to you and bad cess to SD for nerfing so many things
Great job KP! With the econ event you probably would have broke 1.1 mil at least.
Looks great Seth!!! For now...... [e digicons]}:)[/e]
I was pretty exhausted writing it so no worries. Too much whiskey yesterday left me with an upset tummy all night. Theoretically it might be more sensible the other way round but in actual practice what I am doing is just setting all starports to spam tiny blanks. If they build one great, if not, no worries. When they are built, they are not necessarily immediately useful though because they may be far away from where I need them. Therefore I rush buy blanks at locations where I actually need
CL, are you doing straight rush buys, longest lease, or what?
It depends. A few tiny's get built normally as my starports have to have something to do, but most of them are rush bought straight buys. Capital ships are long-term leases.
@ SS - Yep, I play neutral. I'm playing TA, and I love the auto-upgrade of the yellow, red, and orange tiles and the 25% discount on ship purchases. Since I purchase all my ships, that's a huge advantage. @ Motti - Ooooh, I know what you are going to do! I've been thinking about it too, lol. You definitely should though.
I would be in most excellent company then, wouldn't I? I'll definitely see what I can do! It seems kind of cheesy to knock you off the top rank after you just posted the all time best score so you have to promise to post another game if I do. Thanks for the support guys, and a special thanks to Cypher for lassoing me into the ToE [e digicons][/e]
Thanks Neilo. It was by a gnat's eyelash over the million, but I'll happily take it. I had a lot fewer planets this time, and they seemed of poorer quality than normal. The econ event came late too. Balancing those downsides I did figure out a few tweaks that improved my game. If I can just get a kinder map on my next game I may be able to push this above 1.1 million. I think that is the maximum though for my style of play.
I've asked this elsewhere but I am mildly frustrated and would like to solicit other's experiences about the number of planets they get. I've been playing all-abudant gigantic universes. In my first game I got 555 planets. In my next I got 537 planets. Then one after that I got 520 planets. My current game I only received 508 planets. Does anyone know if, as your character keeps playing, you get fewer planets in each successive game? Or am I having a run of incredibly poor luck?
I'm glad to hear it Ser Arris, and I can't wait to hear your tip. I have a few more for you too! Just PM me whenyou get the time.
Shouldn't Evil Twin, since he is el numero uno, be a senator?
All Hail Lord Mottikhan, emperor of the Metaverse!!! Congratulations on setting a new record for top score in GalCiv2! That you were able to do it in only two weeks is just amazing.
Hi KP, I just started a giga-abundant this morning. This game might be a little slower getting done....lot's of family stuff going on here for spring break. Good luck on breaking the million, I was pretty excited to do it on my last game, but it is completely dependent on if I get the econ event or not, and when. I think I told you you I eschew starbase arrays and do most of my own colonizing instead of the swindle, but those are obviously powerful point drivers based upon Mottikhan's score l
All very good comments and observations. Honestly, I use more than one or two or even three strategies for colonization. To do it really well you have to be able to use them all in concert. I was trying to explain one of the simpler strategies. Once you master one strategy you can move on to the next, and once you have gotten comfortable with several, you can begin to blend them together. But you do have to start somewhere. As SS points out the value of this strategy is not co
Jack, you know your KC history!! But nope, it's not Boss Pendergast, it is John Brown, the abolitionist, taken from the famous mural by Curry in the Kansas Statehouse. My first avatar was a photo of John Brown, this second a painting. They both capture what I think are decidedly the scariest eyes I have ever seen.
Gm00nii, there are lots of ways of going about improving your colony rush, some of which are easy to explain and some of which require knowledge of other game facets so they aren't easy to explain. Without having to write a book, let try to give a brief synopsis that will get you going in the right direction. First, I see that you read the thread I sent you which is good. One thing I learned there was that conquests victories score much higher than other victories so to get a high sco
Sorry, accidental double post. Please ignore this reply.
Hi Sole Soul, I don't really play "mumblers" since I think that term implies building a starbase array and no real colonization effort. TA really rewards you for doing your own colonization though, unlike DA, and since I love the colony rush I like TA better than DA. I love the differing tech trees too. I also don't have a lot of interest in playing a ZYW either. So for me I vastly prefer TA, but that is just a personal preference and I could be the village idiot. I wanted to say th
I know, I saw you are in Lebanon. I've spent a lot of the finer hours in my life stomping around in your neck of the woods, hunting and fishing since I was old enough to do either. I fly-fish in the Ozarks at least four times a year and have done so since I was seven. IIRC you live in the county with the highest deer population in the whole country, let alone some of the finer fishing, which should now make you the envy of all the sportsmen on these boards. Heck, you can't back out of a drive
Hey everyone, I thought since the Kzinti come over and play on our Tyranny thread I'd check out the Kzinti thread too....and here I find my fellow ToE's chatting away. So I guess we can all chit-chat on whatever thread. Thanks Jack on the congrats and thanks Dys for bragging on me and the ToE. Think of the Tick when I say, "It feels good to be one of the ToEs on the big galactic foot of doom!" @Gm00nii - this is the thread that really taught me the basics of how to play for score.
Hi Jacklv, those are loaded questions around here!!! I'm definitely a Jayhawk, and any truly commited Jayhawk will just look blankly at you over the Chiefs vs. Broncos question, lol. For a real Jayhawk, Chiefs vs Broncos is like Uzbekistan vs. Kryzgistan.....who cares! Since you know enough to ask the question though, can you identify my avatar?
@Mottikhan, KP, Neilo, & Cypher: Thanks guys!! @Neilo: Can I be a senator now, lol? @gm00nii: I used to live right by 38th and Broadway, back in the day!! There are lots of great Mexican places in that area, but the best concentration is right downtown off I-35 at the Kemper Arena exit (which is the Bottoms). I'm impressed with your KC Mexican dining acumen, especially since you are from Indonesia! If I had to guess, I'd say you went to med school there?
