I looked again in RaceConfig.xml and the eight minor races have an AIpersonality of 5 so it looks like they all behave the same and the description is just flavor. Dreadlords have AIpersonality 3 and Pirates have 11.

On a similar note, would it be possible to create a spore weapon or an invasion tactic that would render a world unhabitable or even destroy a planet?
I am interested in editing the .SAV files, but opening them in Notepad results in weirdness. I've tried searching this forum using Google site search but found no answers. Help appreciated.
If you look in RaceConfig.xml, you'll see that all the minor races, save for Akilians, have the same stats (+100 economy, +4 logistics, 0 other abilities). However, the descriptions for the races say that, for example, Jessuins are "hippies at heart", or that the LentzLandians "quickly turn on those who cross them". Do you think there are some hard-coded differences between the minor races? Also, which file contains the information about the other minor races, the ones whi
I find that on immense galaxy, with many research planets, even the very slow researach speed is too fast. Is there an easy way to slow down research even more?
Fantastic, works great! Now I can research all the weapon techs.
I only use them to build up newly colonized planets.
Sounds great; do you think you could also try to fix the ship component Subspace Blaster and the technology Subspace Annihilator? The problem with Subspace Blaster is that it's worse than the preceding Disruptors III. The tech Subspace Annihilator is supposed to give a ship component according to the description but it doesn't. I can't help with your problem, since I haven't ever done any modding on this game.
I too would be interested in such a mod. I don't understand why they chose to delete those techs. A longer and smoother progression would be much better. But would the AI know how to use these techs in TA and are the ship components compatible with TA?
Does anyone know, at least approximately, how is the end-score calculated? I am talking about the scores in individual categories (technology, economy, society, etc.) as well as the overall high score that goes to the in-game high score list. I couldn't find any information on the wiki. I won't be posting again for a few days, so Merry Christmas everyone!
The description for the tech 'Stellar Cartography' says that you can now see planets on the miniscanner, and that high-quality planets will show up differently. Indeed, planets do show after researching the tech, but high-quality planets look exactly the same as the others. Am I missing something obvious?
I've just checked, I actually had no starting techs selected. If you don't select them as your starting techs then you won't see them in the tech tree and can't research them..weird. Traditional Research unlocks research lab, and Industrial Revolution unlocks traditional factory and entertainment network. Still no market center though. Thanks for the help Sole Soul.
Thank you for the information, I shall e-mail them then, in case these issues haven't been reported yet. In case someone reads this thread though, I would like to add one more very minor inconvenience: 5. When designing a custom race with a Minor Race tech tree, you never have access to the entertainment network, traditional factory, research lab and market center. You have to wait for multimedia center, xeno factory, xeno lab, and advanced market center,
I am playing ToA 2.02, and after my first two games I wanted to bring some minor issues to the attention of developers: 1. You cannot embargo minor races. If you go to 'Foreign Stats' and then click the 'Minor Races' tab, the option to embargo a minor nation is there, but you cannot select it. This is of some significance for the gameplay; sometimes a criminalist organization may appear and take your planets, for example, and so you might want to embargo t
Ok, thanks everyone.
Thank you all for the informative replies replies, I find them all very helpful. Don't remember them doing so but haven't looked at them in ages. What's your video card? Drivers up to date? My driver is up to date to be sure. My video card is an integrated Intel GM965 for laptops, which isn't impressive although it's one of the newer chipsets. The game works fine otherwise, I can even run it on maximum vi
Hello everyone, having played the demo of this game about a year ago, I have recently decided to purchase the ultimate bundle with both expansions. I have just finished my first game, playing the TA chapter on immense galaxy with very slow research speed, cakewalk difficulty, and a custom race of my own that didn't have any bonuses or super abilities (I wanted to explore the game basically). I did a little bit of everything in this game,
