@ JustinSane4: Thanks for the quick reply. I'll definitely give your strategy a try. It sounds like it'll work pretty well with how I play. [e digicons][/e] Thanks again and Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~

@ Audiogoose45: Thanks for the tip on getting the sticky started. I ask around a bit and see if one of the moderators will set up an '09 thread. Thanks again. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
I'm not sure if this is really a strategy, but I usually try and get some good industry techs from the other races. Yes, I know most of the colony race is probably over by then, but I manage OK. As for getting an early jump on the colony rush, I usually just let the fact that it takes about 7 turns per colony ship be a fact. I don't play at quite the level of difficulty as you (Tough is my best), but usually 7 turns beats
How about buying morale tech from another civilization? Or of course maximizing your trade income so you can lower taxes which in turn improves morale. Though this is risky: when the vote is cast to limit evil races to only 1 trade route that takes a huge bite out of your income so be prepared that this may happen.
To go along with what Noc
I actually have a question for the veterans, so here it is: Does the "Flip" technique still work in TA? The flip is where you start off the game just building either all research centers or all manufacturing centers, and then you flip them all to their opposite at some point in the game. I.E. If you started with manufacturing, you flip them all over to research, and vice versa. I know that this strategy has worked in the past on DA, I just wanted to know if the updates
I'm no Thalan expert, but for your question on what to do with the first three galactic achievements, I have three options for you: You could use all three of them to creat one super-powerful planet (usually players tend to put all three on Thala). You could disperse
NOTICE: I just added 4 new links to my top list. If there are any more good ones that I should add, please let me know. Thanks and Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
@ sevenwarlocks: Thank you very much for the reply. It's much appreciated. I think it's great that you'll get a bit involved with the community - even though this website was created initially just for playing the game and learning about the game, I believe it has evolved over time into a site where you can also have some friends. So much has come from one game that I believe that we owe the game its continued popularity.
@ Zyxpsilon: Thanks for the heads up. Truth be told, I just put down all of the major Mods that were on the first page - I was going to let people like you tell me what others should be on the list. I didn't want to risk putting up a Mod that didn't work or never got finished, or that just plain sucked. I'll start updating my list now - Thank you very much for the reply. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
Sorry for the triple-post. I'm just bumping this back to the top so that some new players that come by might have a chance to see it. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
that's why i said i'm back
Ahh, yes. Well, give me a break[e digicons]^_^[/e] - as you can probably see, I've been on these forums all day, and where I live, it's currently 9:30 PM. I know that's not late for some of you guys, but I've been up since 5 AM. I'm a little bit tired. When I'm tired, I miss some things. @ DSep: I know that you guys went dead, but I also recently read your empire's thread. It seems to me like you brought your empire back to life, so I put you in the Active list. Thanks for the reply and Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
@ puntarenas: BTW, nice score you logged today. I see you played as the Altarians - nice choice. I think you'll find the Altarian tech tree to be very similiar to the Drath tech tree if you play as them. A key difference is in the Super Abilities that each race gets, along with the Drath's War Profiteering bonuses. On the other hand, the Altarians get quite a few unique techs if you choose Good as your ethical alignment af
Hey Simon - I've spent some time looking through the entire DL section of the Library and I've got a few downloads that you could try out. Whether they work or not - I would assume they do, otherwise they probably wouldn't be on there, but if they don't - sorry. The links are: <a title="SHWM" href="http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=446" t
@ puntarenas: I think it makes sense just fine. And yes, the new tech trees are very cool, and the new strategies you have to come up with to play with the tech trees are cool, too. Thanks for the reply. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
Thanks for the comment Mumblefratz. I really appreciate it. It is also very good to hear that this is just an ebb, and not a major fall of popularity for the game. I'll also take your comment on not burning myself out over the game to heart. I think that's a great point and again - I really appreciate the comment. Thank you very much and Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
Then you don't understand New Frontiers. New Frontiers is a mod. It by definition (in this case) does not have access to the source code, which would be necessary for the changes you're describing.
I realize that it is a Mod - I just didn't know what kind of changes that would take. As for the rehaul of the speed sy
@ Embird: Good to hear that you're playing again. If you go to the MV Recruiting Center, you'll see that I still have the Gerontocracy in the "Active" list - it's nice to know that I put you guys in the right list. Thanks for the reply. @ Seth: Since you were twelve!?! That's pretty young. Good to hear that you're still a dedicated player. ~ Cypher ~
thanks forthe comment on the ship style and tech tree.
Your welcome. Your hard work deserved a decent comment.
Ya I know it's just I don't like those players just get Galciv 2 for the MV I mean that's just them playing for the scores and such, I play Galciv 2 for fun,
I definitly did not just get the game for the MV - truth be told, I ha
Thanks for the info Seth. Now I'm asking anyone that's considering making an MV empire to only create it if they are going to stick with it. Thanks. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
I hope that they get rekindled - an overhaul would be very cool! If you need any ideas or help of somekind, I'll be glad to contribute. Best Regards. ~ Cypher ~
I play more offline games than MV games, with normal games there's more creative control and you could do what ever you want. I am the only MV empire emperor that doesn't exclusivly play on the MV.
That's perfectly fine with me Seth. I do get around to playing normal games as well. The important thing is that you occasionally are active in the MV and you took the time to make a really cool empire. Thanks for the rep
Want to get to that planet? Ask for an access treaty. If the other party agrees, you can send ships etc in. Want economic access, military access? You need a treaty. As it is now you make a freighter and send it off. It makes no difference if the Drengin don't want your crap... Your ship just goes where you send it and you get coin. So much better if you had to sign a treaty before you could trade. It would be quite a feat to be able to trad
Hey Simon! Welcome to Galactic Civilizations II. It's great to see some new players around here. As to your question about recommended Mods - I look into it and see what information I can find. I'll have a reponse for you by the end of the day. BTW - if you want to learn more
Ahhh, yes. Unfortunately, many of the "Good" empires have been inactive. However, just because there are no empires who specifically say "The Tyranny of Good", doesn't mean you shouldn't join. I myself, as you can see from my medals, am a "Chaotic Good" player, yet I am on the Tyranny of Evil. Don't forget that these empires really are there just to unite players and let them form some frienships. So far, I haven't taken any heat for being good. As for somebody doing something about t
