The weakness Matthew pointed out is common to most (maybe all) strategy games: Before actually winning the game, there is a phase in which you surpassed the AI opponents in most or all areas, so your victory is basically assured and the act of achieving it is just kind of a formality. Since this is a weakness of the genre in general rather than GalCiv in particular, it´s nothing that "needs" to be fixed, but it would, of course, improve upon the gaming experience. At first glanz

I played around with the shipyard a bit, hoping to find some more hints to the nature of the problem. I did: -The shipyard never finishes loading, not even after 30+ minutes. -The shipyard finished loading and displays my custom ship as soon as I save a ship. Wether I use a template or design from scratch doesn't matter, as soon as I save the "loading shipyard"-bar is gone and my ships show up. Any ideas?

All the .shipcfg-files in My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\ships open properly in Notepad. I tried to delete all the files (including the xml-files), but it doesn´t make any difference. Are there any other files that belong to custom ships and need to be deleted for a "reset" of the shipyard?

Yes, it is. The game doesn´t crash or hang up or anything like that, that´s not the problem. When I start the shipyard, I can navigate the menus just fine, and, for example, create a new ship from scratch. The problem is, that it does take unusually long to load my existing ships (more than 10 minutes), although I have just a few custom ships.

@Xrati: Nothing unusual in the performance tab. Also, the game itself runs fine. @Kryo: Here it is:
Debug Message: Version v2.01 Twilight of the Arnor last updated on: Tue Nov 11 12:11:03 2008 Debug Message: Could not open reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager\Drengin.net\GalCiv2UL Debug Message: Could not open reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager\Drengin.net\GC2EU Debug Message: Cou

When I start the shipyard from the main menu, it doesn´t show any ships (just the templates), and it has the message "loading shipyard" at the bottom of the screen. It takes more than 10 minutes for the shipyard to finish loading, although I have only a few self-designed ships! Is it normal that it takes so long?
I would use it even in the early game. Buy All that would cost 4bc or 8bc to purchase.
If you do that, you invest additional time and effort into micromanagement to have your colonys develop a little bit faster (by havin improvements finished a week or two earlier). If you automate the buying of nearly-finished improvements, you take away this option.

An additional button would make the colony manager more complicated and crowded. Also, adding a feature requires dev time and work. That button you suggest would be used ony by a part of all players, and is only useful in certain situations (late game, very good economy). Basically, it´s not worth the effort. What exactly is the problem, gameplay-wise, you would like to have fixed? And what would be the easiest, most convenient way to fix it?
3. I made a new planetary super project called Fleet Command Centers that you get on Interstellar Construction. Once built, all your ships in orbit will work together as a fleet when any of your planets are attacked. This eliminates the old orbital fleet manager improvement. I found it just too cheesy that I was able to go to a civ's capital planet, knock out their defense one by one with my mega fleet and take it which can often cripple an AI player. It's to

I´m a noob and I´m currently playing humans on a large map on tough difficulty. For some time, I´ve tried to get research and economic treaties with the other races, who kept telling me it was too early for that - until a few days ago, when they all startet to sell me those treaties at a reasonable price. Now, there is something wierd: I can´t ask the Arceans for economic or research treaties, they just don´t show up in the corresponding section of the di

I just bought GalCiv II complete, and since I´m a noob, I don´t yet understand the way in which the addons integrate into the game. After installing everything (including the newest update, 2.0), there are Dread Lords, Dark Avatar und Twilight of the Arnor each available as "seperate" games to run, but if I run Twilight, I can choose to play the campaigns from Dread Lords and Dark Avatar. Is there a difference between playing the campaigns in their native games and playing
