It's really disappointing to pick spellbooks at Sov creation time and when the game starts you get opposite type shards in your starting area/environment.
Agree completely. I'm honestly a little surprised that they haven't gone with FFH-style shards by now. That would fix this (significant) problem entirely.

I agree with everything you've said here. I think that mana either needs a burn off percentage (a soft cap, in other words) and/or per turn casting limits like AoW. Your other ideas are very good, too. On a related note it may be possible to mod in casting points. I haven't messed around that much with the XML, but if you can attach different durations to different spell effects, there's no reason that it couldn't be modded up. You'd have to

I love the new combat mechanics. THANK YOU! Will these stats have an upper limit of 100, though? For example, what if I get a unit up to 100 defense? A unit with 100 accuracy wouldn't ever be able to hit it. Would a unit with 200 accuracy hit it 100% of the time?

I agree completely that the animations are waaay too fast. It almost makes you think that the designers don't really like tactical combat, assume you won't either, and want to 'help' you get through it as fast as possible.

I think it was mentioned at one point that armor was undergoing some significant balance-type changes in the next few beta iterations. I agree with the sentiments here, and I'm hopeful that it's going to be worked on in the near future.

I name my sovereign Thomas Bayes and sit around my city trying to infer how the AI has been programmed and imagine how much better the maps will look when we shift to 1-tile cities. In other words, I'm waiting for a couple more beta iterations to jump all the way in.
Give the player the option to capture Hero unit's. Taking enemy officers hostage and making them prisoners was a common strategy used in medieval warfare. This would give the player the diplomatic advantage or disadvantage if the tables were turned. Being able to barter the release of prisoner's would give this game another great dimension. Also, a big problem I always have is computer player's wantonly killing of their children and thus leaving my sovereign's offspring

I'm all for 1-tile cities, personally. As someone else said somewhere else, the map starts to look like Jersey in the late game with the multi-tile system in. I think that limiting the building area to one tile surrounding the hub might be a workable idea, but that limit does feel kind of arbitrary. And, as Sean insightfully pointed out, I think that this will lead people to raze buildings in the late-game to make room for the upper-tier ones. And that just doesn't feel righ

I'm happy to hear that things went well. I wish you all the best, of course. Especially with all the hard work (and money) being sunk into FE.

To add my minimally constructive 2 cents: AWWWWW YEAAAAAAAH! I'm all for one-tile cities (obviously). Since, you know, multiple tiles didn't really do anything and they made the game world feel small. I'm sorry to admit this, but this as much as anything else has increased my expected enjoyment level of post-beta FE. Plus, since my system is borderline, I'm super happy that I may squeeze out a few extra fps in the mid to late game. Thank you!

Since you mention it, I'm not a big fan either. I'm probably the only one, but I actually liked the barren maps in WoM (we probably disagree there). Because as it is right now, the worlds just seem like a mish-mash of (pretty garish) colors (we probably agree here). If I were going to meme-ify the maps in FE, I'd probably go with: <img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/10700000/Rainbow-Puke-random-10768860-30
I would laugh so hard if the reboot ends up looking like XCOM.
Which one? Because I'd actually be really happy if they went with turn & initiative based combat. Actually, that would probably be the deciding factor in me buying the game. Well, that and the 3e ruleset.
