Like I said, read through the entire guide. His guides for optimizing Windows can really help general performance.
Thanks for the article!!!! This part: "Mouse Lag: If you are experiencing 'mouse lag', that is a feeling of reduced sensitivity or sluggishness in your mouse, regardless of how high you set the mouse sensitivity slider, you should first make sure you are consistently getting sufficient FPS, especially in more complex scenes such as during combat.
Sorry for the long post. Let us know what kind of power you have and we can make some suggestions. Oh, and far as mouse lag goes, it could be the videocard. Try turning the visual settings down.
Long posts are good!. I like learning this stuff. I'll check out my power supply when I get home. I've tried turning down the settings..........nope.

Yes you can adjust each planets spending priorities. You con do this on the planet screen. You can not divert ALL resources to any one in particular on the planet screen alone (this must be done with the sliders). On the planet screen there are 3 boxes (with the sheilds in them)that read: Military-Social-Research. There is a button next to the names that you can click on switch the priorities. Here is an example of how it works: Lets say with the sliders you have it set for 100% mili
The event is skewed and needs to be brought into balance with the game.
Yeah. Lets assume that the Major Races are the most advanced races in the galaxy. How do a bunch of pirates get a hold on stuff that is above and beyond any of the Major Races. Another dimension? They found a bunch of ancient ass-kicking hardware? A god somewhere said 'merry x-mas' here are some bad ass ships? They won the lottery and bought them in another galaxy?
The 4870 is an ATI card. Several companies make it. It runs around 300 bucks right now (you'll want to make sure your power supply can support it, btw).
I am quite the newb when it comes to comp hardware. How do you check to make sure the power supply can handle it?

From the look of the minimap I would try to ally with the other race asap. Then the 2 of you would own most of the galaxy and you two could pick off the other races one by one. Do you have tech trading on? If so, get alliance, sell it to em and ally.
if you can't beat the ai on tough, first start playing on a lower level and get comfortable with the game.
Good advice. I started on cakewalk and played through every difficulty level with one 'good', 'neutral' and 'evil' race. It gave me an awesome feel for the game. I have one more game on tough with a neutral race and then its on to painful. Has anyone beaten it on 'suicidal'?
The other thing to note, those new planets may be upgrading buildings right now.
Is this a default setting when a planet 'flips'? It seems to happen every time a planet flips to my side.

There is a button on the Options/Game menu that reads: 'Auto design ships for player'. Try clicking that. I have that option enabled and ships appear for me. This is for ToA, I'm not sure if DL or DA has it.
Actually you can auto-launch in DA and DL. You just need to setup a colony rally point for the planet's in question and then any new ship built will automatically be auto-launched and have it's destination set to the rally point. If I don't actually want to send all ships to the rally point then I go to the Governors under the Civilization Manager and set the destination of all ships going to the Rally point to "None".
Yup, u r correct sir, duh on me. Cant help on the scrolling but.... Are you playing DL, DA or ToA? For Dl and DA there isn't one For ToA In the option/game menu there is a check box that reads 'Auto launch ships from orbit' click that and your good to go. Note: in all versions you can right click on the little blue ship icon that appears on the right hand side of the screen when a ship is built. That will launch the ship. Its way easier then having to: click the planet-then the ship-then

I have Bioshock for the PC. There is a BIG problem with mouse lag that makes the game unplayable for me. I have searched the internet and tried various methods to correct but to no avail. Has anyone out there had the same problem and fixed it? If so, could you tell me how!
Unless your home world is blessed with some exceptional bonus tiles
Sorry for the question not regarding this thread: Can you turn bonus tiles off? It has not occured to me to ask it until now.
Secondly, there is a known issue in the auto-designer that allows it to create ships that exceed the space limits for a given hull.
Do you know if affects the A.I. also? Will they get the same 'benefit'. I guess there is no way to tell. It would make creating your own ships somewhat mute.

Goods points. I have tried to play immense maps also. IMO it is just TOO time consuming trying to manage all that (a month for a game). I found I enjoy maps no larger then medium and 90% of the time I just play small. I like a game I can complete over a weekend. Small maps on the harder are levels are 'in your face' right away.
