At least you don't have to pay maintenance on them anymore :D

I love the Harvester, especially on a 300% bonus tile. That gives you 18B pop cap which is about right, and the growth bonus get you there quicker. Minor races all seem to have this tech so it can get a bit out of hand when they build it on a farm bonus -- 20B is manageable with the civ capital morale bonus, 28B isn't. Just like when the Thalans build the Hyperion Matrix on a farm bonus ;p
Note to designer of the program icon: Excellent! Nice to see the contrast from the Dreadlords. Fire VS Ice.
I say BAh HUMBUG! That silly blue thing replaced my ObjectDock terror star icon without my consent.
Ummm . . . ok . . . note to self: do not even look at ascension thingy until you have the military capability to fight everyone at once.
Ascension could actually make bigger maps play out faster . . .I've explored about 1/4 of a gigantic map and have 7 ascension crystals already.
Still no weapons module for Thalan starbases?
Personaly I think this is a good idea
Nothing that takes control of what goes where on my own damn pc away from me, and gives it to someone else, is a good idea.
I suspect though that what will happen is that Microsoft will implement something like that into Games Explorer. Even now, we're forced to have our games run from the Microsoft Games Explorer (MGE) on Vista. All that's left is putting protection on that so that the games are encrypted under it. Then you could instal lthe game to as many PCs as you want but you wouldn't be able to distribute them via torrents or whatever very easily since the actual "thing" is an encrypted blob that
I did have some new ideas on how the AI should pick planetary improvements though while laying around.
I hope this will mean the end of Research Coordination Centers with no labs, and Quantum Power Plants with no factories. I'd wish for the Thalans to build something besides Embassies too, but that's just crazy talk ;) Edit: speaking of AI, they need to be more aware of targets of opportunity. I just had a military resource starbase destroyed by the Yor; the Terrans h
Apparently, I misunderstood a post from Carielf on Jagged Knife. Said we wouldn't see the Jagged Knife again. Must have been referring to a text change.
Besides the text changes noted above, the mega events have been changed so if minor races in general aren't allowed, mega events involving minors (jagged knife, fundamentalists, vegans) won't happen.
Also, they need to "turn on" spying on Minor Races. When you get the Jagged Knife event, or even a powerful Minor, you should be able to spy on them. RE: The Thalans I really hope these guys are getting some new stuff, because they are missing: 2. No access to "battle stations", even though Battle Stations 2 is in the Hyperion Starbases branch I found them to be completely unplayable.
+1 for espionage again
You have no idea how much I'm pouting over the continuing absence of the Hyperion Starbase modules. It's quite disgusting, really.
Is the Mini Soldier even around anymore? I haven't seen them for a while. I still prefer Information Warfare over Tidal Disruption even on worlds where I'll lose the improvements no matter what; plunk down agents on the morale improvements and you can often end up with a decently large population on a freshly invaded world. Great for keeping the economy going when you're invading everyone in sight. Especially when you're evil and the invasion is free. I'll only use Tidal Disruption when I'm
I don't think you can steal any tech that has the * in the trade screen. Losing the infrastructure does suck but OTOH it means you can often use the cheap effective Tidal Disruption invasion without adverse consequences.
Since I like to play with tech trading off, I'll have to pick my early victims according to their farming technology :) My favourite part of TA is stealing other race's unique techs in order to enhance my strength or eliminate weaknesses. There are some deadly combinations to be had, like playing the Terrans and combining their warp bubbles, the Impulse, Warp and Hyperwarp speed bonuses and the Arcaeans' navigation techs. You end up having decently fast ships with no engines with al
I find it kind of ironic that just as we're getting the new Dark Energy related game content, scientists are [link="http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2007/12/21/2124258.htm?site=science&topic=latest"]saying oops, dark energy doesn't exist.[/link] :)
I like the Drath. Sucks to be losing them due to a backstory that's basically irrelevant to me. I don't know how typical I am, but I've never cared for anything but sandbox mode in any TBS game I've played.
If you think that's bad, Civilization 4 has a religion that's called Christianity! What are the odds? I bet it wasn't intentional though. Seriously though, Christianity wasn't any more unified at the start than it is now, so I suggest that what one splinter group may have called themselves a few millennia ago isn't the slightest bit relevant as anything but historical curiosity. Especially when "the way" is a pretty damn general term and only a translation from something else in Hebr
