I can't recall where the post is, but someone tested creativity in DA and it averaged out to 12.5% additional research points and scales with the number of research points your empire produces. Again, this is based on my memory of someone elses tests, but my experience with it matches pretty closely. The problem is you've got to look in the debug.err to actually "see" the results, and 12.5%, while very helpful, is not enough to be easily "felt", so to speak. I think because of this creativit

Are customized tech trees Metaverse compatible? Unless they've got a balancing mechanism in place, they've got to get that fixed since it'd be so easily abusable. Or am I misunderstanding, and you're referring to how we can pick which tech tree to use with a custom race?
It's also important to keep the AIs at war with each other, even when it's expensive to do so (particularly on suicidal in my experience). It buys you time to get a bigger stick :).
Personally, I think it looks like there has been, from the release of DA on, an effort to balance the game such that the Korath are stronger than the Drengin. They get a much better super ability, better starting bonuses and now a better tech tree. This looks quite deliberate. My guess is that the story requires the Korath to be stronger than the standard Drenging they sprang from. I actually don't mind the weakness of the Drengin relative to the Korath, because otherwise they may play prett
This is a serious hole in the Thalan tech tree. They've pretty much got to trade for the needed tech. Personally, I would like to see them get at least some weapon for their starbases.
In my games 25% creativity seems to proc every 30-40 turns, as best as I can tell. I agree that it is strong on very slow tech speed, but I think it's actually a bit weak on very fast tech speed. I actually rather like it the way it worked before, but I understand that it's a lot more exciting the way it is now.
I used a custom (in game, no ARC) race with the Thalan tech tree, but in hindsight I'm not sure it was the best choice. I may see if I can do better using a different tech tree. DethAdder, thank you for the information. This game actually finished 2/22, so I went back and played it out to 4/8 and got 33,600 and no cheat flag. :)
This morning I played a 33k TA zyw that was inexplicably cheat flagged. Are games usually cheat flagged if they are faster than 12 turns?
A pity they chose to start us on this path, but I agree it is necessary for the integrity of the Metaverse community. A newcomer should be able to know without investing a lot of time in research that those scores are not honestly possible. If I thought I was 400 times worse than the best players, I might never have tried to get better. It's important IMHO for players to know where the bar actually has been set by skilled, honest players.
Woo-hoo! Go us (Team E)! :) Seriously, congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in the league and particularly to those who have helped organize it. Winning and losing is secondary; the success of the league, IMHO, is the best thing to come from the competition.
Kryo, the game that was cheat flagged was with a new custom race created in game, but it also was an 11 turn spore rush win. Are games that finish in 12 turns or under cheat flagged? Cari, I'm currently downloading a compression utility so I can zip the files and send them over. Thank you both very much for your help! :)
I've not noticed unusual anomaly income in Twlight personally. I'm also pretty sure it's turn 100 or so before the AI will accept an economic treaty.
Is anyone else unable to submit games to the Metaverse? I've finished two Metaverse games, and each time, it goes to the victory screen, then to the score screen, then back to the main Twilight menu, without giving a chance to submit to the Metaverse. A bit off the topic, but I've tried to post this a couple of times on in the Twilight forum, and the posts don't show up, which is odd. edit: Just played a third game, and that one submitted without issue. Strange that the others did n
I can't seem to submit games to the Metaverse. I have tried two different Metaverse games, and each time I get the victory screen, then the score screen, then straight back to the main menu without the option of submitting the game to the Metaverse. I'm doing everything the same as I have in the DA games I've submitted. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?
I've finished two quick games I played as Metaverse games. Each time, I got the victory screen, then the screen recapping the score, then it went straight back to the main menu without giving the option to submit to the Metaverse. Neither of the games show up in my Metaverse profile, and I did everything exactly the same as all the games I submitted using DA. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?
The tech trees (by a vast margin) and the more efficient use of system resources. I've not played enough to notice the new AI improvements yet. I will mention that it's still quite susceptible to an attack in the first 12-13 turns in tiny galaxies, but if you program it to guard against blitz tactics it would probably hurt it against normal approaches I suppose. Great game btw. Thank you. :)
In a Twilight sandbox game (forgot to play it as a metaverse game) I got 29,240 just now in a very sloppy game, and I've played very few metaverse games. I think the potential exists (particularly for Wyndstar) to blow away the existing record once people figure out optimal paths in Twilight. It will be interesting to see. In most other areas, I think scores will run lower for Twilight than DA or DL for a variety of reasons, but you can't beat it for speed.
Welcome Red Claw! :) Be sure to check out our forum at the tyranny boards as well if you get a chance.
Mumblefratz, that is incredible. Congratulations!
I believe that once the ratio of your military rating to a given race's military rating passes a certain point, they become unwilling to give up weapons tech in all but the most extreme circumstances. This includes very weak weapons tech. In a way, this makes sense. Why make the superpower stronger?
The profiteering bonus only applies to races that are at war and that you are currently at peace with. You do not get the profiteering income from any race you are at war with. Thus, the more races you declare war on, the fewer give you profiteering income. There was a thread on this with a dev post confirming this mechanic recently in the Twilight forum.
You may want to wait a bit before pronouncing this easy (though it may in fact be so) :). Once you start declaring war, your profiteering income will drop, and once you control a significant portion of the galaxy it will start dropping severely, and you won't be able to build the MCC to stabilize your economy. It's very doable to win in such as situation, but it can lead to a rather delicate phase as your economic footing shifts from profiteering based to tax based (which requires population b
Ah.. I'd misunderstood his proposal then. Thanks for the clarification, and great idea Silver. :)
Mumblefratz, personally I think that's as close to a perfect solution as we're going to get. Well thought out. :CONGRAT:
With the teams being re-shuffled by the draft, I would think it may make sense for the bonus points to count for next season, not the current? IMHO..
