Outstanding. We look forward to having you onboard. And more importantly, congratulations! :)

I didn't join the MVL initially quite simply because I was scared off by the post-count of the rule thread. This was stupid. I'll get to why momentarily. I joined the MVL A. Because I was finally smart enough to read their sticky thread and B. because in round 6 they had settings, a tiny map conquest victory, that I knew quite well and that sounded like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I noticed all this less than 12 hours before the league ended. :) I signed up for round 7 an
On suicidal, the AIs get massive bonuses to economy, diplomacy, research, production, miniaturization and influence. There is a pretty harsh adjustment phase the first time (first few times probably) you play on suicidal. Personally, I got killed. :) With experience (and reading AARs from the game's masters such as Wyndstar, Purge and Mumblefratz), one learns the focused type of play needed to cope. The cumulative advantage gained by careful attention to all the small details becom
Sounds good to me. :)
Alright, idea retracted, and apologies if I've offended anyone!
How many players have had success with the Thalans on Suicidal? I have in one game, but that was dependent on a very good starting position and a very carefully selected galaxy set-up. I'm pretty sure the pink blob of doom is a doomed strategy on suicidal, but I'd love for someone to have proven me wrong. :)
I've noted too that the AIs seemed oddly toothless, even on Suicidal. In my current game, I've got 12 planets and they've only got 2-3/each. They keep sending unescorted transports to my world, which I easily dispatch. I have the feeling this was intended to be a harder scenario than it is. This isn't an AI reset bug, since they are showing suicidal level research/econ/influence/production for the number of planets they have, but the AI seems buggy or something.
Personally, I would rather not see franchise players... this is because I am greedy. If the teams mix more thoroughly, it increases the likelyhood I end up somewhere with a great player I haven't previously worked with, and I can learn more. So I favor the current 2 round then everyone else random draft. Let me note that I love my current team, but if there is going to be a draft, it might as well be a draft. :) One minor question: With the proposed rule-set, isn't it an enormous ad
Congratulations A Team :) Wyndstar, impressive dedication. A couple weeks back I got the idea that may have been how you went about it. Even with that advantage however, it took some excellent play to capitalize that effectively. Your blitz skills are amazing. As to my two year game, I had the basic strategy of going with a research maximized race (Altarian, +20 research, technologist party, +25% creativity, +30 econ, +10 morale), cntrl-n until I get a +700 research square
No need to apologize at all Itzok, that's a good game! And very a nice job Piznit. :)
Excellent :) Thank you very much!
Where did it go? Where did it go? Where did it go? This is a genuine threat to my sanity, people.. Where did it go?
Thank you very much. :) I'm thrilled that we have new tournaments, but do you have any idea when Twilight will be Metaverse compatible? I know many players (myself included) are very much looking forward to that!
Thank you very much for running this experiment and sharing the results with us! :) It's nice to be sure of such things.
Those are a couple of terribly impressive games! Congratulations! :)
Congratulations! That is an excellent game!
Thank you for making the site. I am sorry for you that it did not gain traction. I think the problem is that there are already a couple of large sites (the core, tyranny's forums) that have reached "critical mass", so to speak. The volume of posts there is enough to make people who have an interest in the game sign up for the forums so they can join current discussions. It's tough to get new people I'd imagine. I too hope that one day some of the great players who have left, will
I would like to heartily second this request! Please?
You guys are right. I fear I've, trying to help, made myself less than helpful - sorry. Let's just have fun. :)
Personally, I love the idea of everyone doing AARs, no matter what resolution we come to on the ARC, straw dog and brewing reload issue to be named later. Maybe the AARs could be a strictly voluntary, but officially encouraged thing perhaps? edit: On the general issue of re-loading, one thing to mention pre-emptively is that in Twilight the creativity ability gives a random chance of "proc"ing whatever tech you are currently researching. One beta tester said that he'd had success rel
Here's a question.. as you and Wyndstar figured out in the round 6 thread, on suicidal difficulty level the technologist party and +20 research combine to give a massive research bonus, something on the level of doubled. I did knowingly use that in round 7. I'm not sure whether or not this bonus is intended, but it can certainly make a difference. On the other hand, it seems wierd to say you can't use a race on the highest difficulty level that has every available research bonus. So
Hello everyone. :) My creatively named MVL character, JustinSane5, has joined the empire. Alas, a mortal. Ah well. :)
I agree that any time the Thalan are forced to research and use their own production/research buildings, they are in trouble. They are nearly useless compared with standard buildings and take forever to research. The weak troops and star bases are real problems as well. I do think they play differently from the other races because of the importance of the hyperion matrix and the fact that they must trade for standard technologies to be competitive. Since they have such a unique tech tree wit
Very well then.. I second Wyndstar's proposed rule. (I think that is how this is supposed to work anyway). :)
Looks good to me. :)
