The problem with this strategy is that about halfway through the game, once everyone has the alliance tech..they all go ape shit. Youll have almost every single race allied to 3-4 other races and then a constant, no-end and all-out galactic war That might be my personal favorite part of the game. havn't read all of it, but it looks intersting enough to consider on a deep, deep level way to go for writing something and posting it. It's always great to see the community grow.
Mystikmind, I certainly hope you're referring to legal downloads. Asking for help pirating software is a short road to ban-land. I would lay low and delete cookies if I were you Mystikmind. Not that I have any pirated software. For Realz.

I have the images in the race folder and in gfx. The paths are right in the raceconfig. Same with logos. I'll go change them to png.
I have no idea who Kryo really is, but thanks for being so helpful. It usually takes you about half an hour to respond, which means you are working constantly. Thanks for answering everything. My game would be dead without your help.
Okay, I've been messing with mods and such (really lightly, no real modding). When I try to add new pictures for races, it only shows up when choosing races at the beginning of a game. For trade portraits, I set just an image, but it does't show up. Only one of the logos works, which is so weird, since all of them are done the same. Most images are jpeg and i've accounted for that in the raceconfig. Any suggestions?

Related to this, I thought that it would be fun to add a section where a flaghsip can survive even if all planets from a civilization are destroyed. That way, if all your planets are taken over, you can run away in your flagship. Although it may be very slowy going, you can research and build on the ship, and hopefuly retake some planets.

sorry, I downloaded the firmware, and it works. Now when I try to open it, it asks for a directory to put it in and i don't know where to put it... same thing here.
When i try to open it, it says my version of .net framework is out of date. I have 2.0, but it says i need 2.something? How do i solve this

I have created a scenario in which I am a custom race. All other civilizations are on a team, and all are at war with me, including the dread lords. Note that it is set to suicidial. In a huge galaxy, I started far enough away so that I could easily grab a good 1/5 of the galaxy, which is was really useful. Then about seven months in, my scout ships started noticing that everyone was starting to make transports and warships. I beefed up my defenses into huge fleets. I have over a thousand ships

The game used to work well, but now it is crashing. The debug file says it's having problems with the CustomRaceWnd.dxpack file. I've tried re-installing it, but it doesn't fix it...
When I try to activate my copy, it tells me "You appear to have been trying to enter a serial number to activate a standalone product"...what should I do???
