And it's probably a good thing we didn't do it, foreign translation would have cost a fortune! While it doesn't solve the technical issues, I think there's a straightforward solution to that -- give the community the resources to handle that part. Have the event log get generated, then plug it through "story-style" files written by the community to generate the final

hi, well the fighter hangars come seperately cause I have to change more xml file stuff, and that would make the whole mod not MV compatible. but it will need some time as I have much to do at the moment =O) Well, I don't think the MV stuff is worth worrying too much about... the effects, while they don't trigger the cheat flag, don't seem to show up in my MV games (seeing as there's a separate MV gc2types.xml that is loaded for MV games). <
Sounds awesome! Thanks, Stefan!
Huh? I love the altarians. I would have thought they would fare better. Maybe I'll be able to find time to start a game with them. While I'm certainly no heavy-hitter, I plan on playing the Altarians for this tourney. That is... when exams get polished off.
My presumption is that as was noted in #48, this will not trip the Metaverse cheat codes. [But I have stopped submitting to the Metaversae anyway.] Now... that *is* odd, as I've been submitting DA beta games with that version, and that really should trip the flag... unless the game is ignoring those values in meta for some reason? Hrmm...
These look great -- thanks!
Besides it all comes down to economics! Upgrading the MV takes time = money and that is something that as a company Stardock cant afford to spend. Well, of course, but *any* improvements have this issue, so that's hardly an argument against. Now, if the number of people who'd make use of this is very small, then that's an argument against it -- the time can be spent elsewhere. And, quite honestly, that might be the case. But then, in my s
Alrighty -- I know there are at least some people who would like to use certain mods, but don't, as they like posting scores to the Metaverse (or the opposite -- don't post to Meta because there are cosmetic mods like Logic's HR mod or Kryo's Hull System Mod). Now, obviously, games played with gameplay-changing mods shouldn't be postable to the Meta, but why shouldn't the above (and other) cosmetic mods be allowed? With very little knowledge of the underworkings of the Meta, he
Well, it also gives a 20% morale bonus, which is quite nice. More expensive (~2x, iirc) than an equiv morale building, but also less maintenance. I experimented with it a bit last game (as in: building quite a few), and if you have the funds, it seems to work pretty nicely.
Annnd... here's the other one I mentioned. My first Masochistic game .
Well, here's one, and another has about an hour left to finish.
I know it's been brought up a bit earlier, it'd be really nifty if things like this could be more official -- because there could be prizes! I think it could do a lot for the meta, if, say, the winning race of a tourney was rewarded with a new hull design in an upcoming patch...
Annnnd another. This was a bit crazy, given that all but one race was at war with me the entire time (stupid Drath).
First time giving the Korath a shot. Whee. Long game, Yor were frustrating me. :/
I know you said this wasn't Metaverse compatible, but, well... it doesn't seem to trip any cheat flags here. I just submitted a game with this enabled and it didn't complain in the least. Just for the record.
Oh dear, I should've searched first -- I just suggested this in the 1.6x suggestion thread. In any case -- I love this idea!
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but here's something I'd really appreciate that doesn't change the gameplay *whatsoever*, but adds some really nice flavor. Ship name lists. Let us make lists of names that our ships names will be randomly chosen from on creation. Ship names add recognition (hey -- that's The Vesuvius - my prototype missle cruiser!), but are a chore to add at this point. EDIT: It appears this has been discussed a bit over here: h
They look awesome, thanks! Quick question -- is this be MV compatible? It didn't trigger anything when I loaded up my MV save, but I dunno if it usually would say anything at that point.
The first tech only gives you 50% production on the planet. The second tech takes the planet to 100% production.
Super Manipulator, of course. I think the reason is relatively obvious, given SS2.
Ps: You'll get your fast Mass Drivers (are Gattling gun animations ok? =o) ) Awesome.
That's, uh... pretty close to what I'd be going for (that is, I want the MDs to be more, well... gun-ish). I was going to be using the ones you posted to the Library as references, actually. Can't wait to check 'em out. Thanks!
Regarding Battle of the Gods... is it supposed to restrict you to playing as Terran? All the other races are non-selectable for me. :/
Alright, here's the thing. A lot of the weapon effects got fancied up in DA. However, as far as I can tell, all the Mass Drivers are still the slow moving missile-like effects like they've always been. So, a few questions: #1) Has this already been done? I've searched a bit and haven't found anything yet, so... #2) My general idea is such: I'll maintain what the graphics currentl
Apparently it's possible to communicate with and eventually ally with the Dread Lords in Dark Avatar (v1.50.059). I was recently playing a game where I was at war with the Korath after a "Dread Lords Return" mega-event. Eventually I get a popup letting me know that the DLs want to help me in the war. I can, if I want, click "speak to" and trade with them. This eventually leads to being able to ally with them (as the popup returns every time they send me a ship or whatever). However,
