Was having the same problem on my new install. Resolution trick did nothing except change the size of the black box on the screen. However, changing Fullscreen=0 did work with default resolution. Then in game I changed the resolution and put a tic next to full screen, rebooted the game and it works fine so far. So something odd with initial settings it seems in full screen mode it gets stuck before it can generate other needed files (my game dir has a bunch of news stu
