No AI can ever match the skill of a veteran player in any game more advanced than chess without massive bonuses. I beg to differ. My son and I had fun for a while playing Command & Conquer on-line with each other and with other people. We discovered that playing a game with unknown people on-line often resulted in watching while the other player executed the perfect strategy for the given map, which was difficult to counter unless you are willing to be b

since I go for higher PQ planets first, then go back and pick off what's left. I'm playing challenging / huge too, and totally agree. Give the Korath the stupid PQ4 worlds and then flip them! I really prefer the epic quality of the huge universe, and it is really amazing how the stratagies differ from small to large universes. What I have learned to do would probably result in a swift and forgetable death in a small universe.

Too many times I've looked up and it's past midnight. Past midnight?! Heck, that's just time for a snack break. I've gotten sucked in to playing after 2:00AM several times and then got up at 7:00AM for work.

Heros! What a great idea. And the Epic Generator! But really, I think this is too much for a patch. But maybe GalCiv III? I love this game. I think that many of the "bugs" that are mentioned are instances where the AI actually outsmarted someone. I find that the challenge of working around the difficulties of this game is part of what I enjoy.

if all you work for is to pay bills then what do you have left in your life? Maybe you have too many bills. My wife, who works literally across the street from our house, just bought a Ford Expedition because it was shiny. When I suggested that maybe she didn't need a $15K car for her grueling 3 minute commute it became apparent that this was not a topic for discussion. So now I get to laugh with the dogs when she is griping about her car payment. Where did this need come from

I'm sorry to hear that. I think Mumble's genes definately need to be added to the gene pool. He will balance out Lindsey Lohan.

Console games have just lost their appeal to me, honestly. I agree. I'm waiting to see if Sony figures out what to do with the PS3, but, honestly, I'm not going to buy another First Person Shooter from anyone. I'm looking forward to the next Gran Turismo and the next Grand Theft Auto, but is that a reason to spend $500+ on a new console? Desktops

Or muppets....PIGS IIIIN SPAAAAAAAAAACE! OMFG! I'm laughing so hard I'm crying! Imagine the races - the Grouches, the Elmos, etc. The Elmonian battlecruiser slowly moved into orbit above the planet Kermit. Suddenly a swarm of "Henson" class fighters closed to attack, peppering the huge red Elmonian vessel with projectiles from their rib

There needs to be more explanation about the GC universe.I mean why does in take longer to travel in Yor space? Many things take away my immersion in the game. The unfunny tech jokes needs removing, and so does the silly diplomatic messages. It's a GAME!! Not a space exploration simulator. It is supposed to be amusing. If I want grim reality, I'll

Turn-based games can be difficult to get into. My 14yr old son would rather play a first person shooter any day. Much of the action in GalCiv 2 (at least for me) takes place in your head while you are planning strategy, building ships, etc. It is a much slower pace than other games you may have played. The artificial intelligence in this game is very good. Not perfect, but good. Some of the things you may view as limitations (the combat system is often discussed) are the way they are to

from this I logically deduce that a person by himself is not stupid, but when he is with someone he becomes stupid. I often find my wife annoying. I would suggest that I was not stupid until I go

Heh. Then, just in time for the 2009 Christmas season, GalCiv IV was brought online. It began to learn at a geometric rate and soon reached the conclusion that the greatest threat was humankind itself. On January 1, 2010, Brad Wardell fired up his copy and saw his own face staring back at him in the diplomacy window, saying "Would you like to play a game of Thermonuclear W

I would play my games; but I tend to become a lock-jawed, monomaniac I downloaded the demo once and started it up just to kill time. An hour later I realized it was probably a bad career move and forced myself to delete it. <TD class="mb-Body

People Are Stupid. DITTO I thought labeling people was wrong. But Labelling individuals is wrong. "People", as a group, are stupid. For example: Darfur, Kosovo, the Holocaust, prohibition, Salem witch hunts, etc. The nice thing about playing a really geeky, difficult game is that the game itself weeds out the int

Ah, the future will be filled with roving gangs asking you how many books you have read. "A Clockwork Asimov", perhaps? A question - and I don't really have an answer - as the available cable channels become more and more fragmented, their target markets get smaller and smaller, as are the audiences of the big broadcast networks. Are we

In addition, Galaxywide Package Service requires that you make a short stop-over on a distant planet to investigate a downed alien vessel. Please collect specimens, and try not to let it eat your cat. Also, there is a large black monolith that Galaxywide Package Service (when it positively, multidimensionally, has to be there overnight) would li

the technology makes TV a lot more like reading a book I may be showing my age here, but I don't agree with this at all. I couldn't watch any of the Trilogy of the Ring movies, because they were wrong! I had already seen the movie in my head, 30 years ago. Ditto for Star Wars Episode 1-3. When I was a younger geek we spent entire summers debating

G.W. I would argue a fun read is a good book, and I do love some of the trash SF novels, but I get your point. I think the better term might be "inspirational". I would imagine every GalCiv fan is a SF fan. Geeks Unite! The great SF novels (Dune, The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, Foundation, etc.) give us a vision of what could be , whic

Sorry wheel, you're a smart man but I gotta disagree here. Let's look at this from a marketing perspective. I have a product. The product has been recently developed and still needs extensive testing. I am presented with two choices of groups to test it. The first group will be small, work 8 hours a day for 5 days a week, and I have to pay each of them. Their feedback will

But what if this is a trick? Maybe there is a cult that likes to eat the flesh of Greys, so they want them to invade in 2012 so they'll have plenty of meat to eat. So, they infiltrated the Greys and made them cook up the moon-landing hoax. If we made it into space, the invasion wouldn't happen and we would probably be at peace with the Greys. The cult would be unable to hu
