I have the original civilisation game by microprose but it is not called civ2? it is just called 'civilisation multiplayer'. It is a brilliant game, but the disk got damaged so i cannot play it anymore. "fire", smash, smash, smash, caboom! I believe the multiplayer was an expansion to Civ II, released as a gold edition, so it is basically the same game, very fun. Broken disc? That really sucks. It's as bad as my lent-but-never-retur

Well I don't knnow about Lear, but I do know that the Airbus A380, The LARGEST commerical jet ever, does about 8mpg (8000mi range, 1000gal tank). 1000 gallons?!? Sorry, your facts are way off, there. More like 80,000 gallons. That's about 10 gallons per mile.
I thought civilisation 2 and civilisation call to power are the same game? They aren't. Civilization: CTP came out after Civ II, and it was made by Activision, not Microprose like the originals. I purchased it assuming that it was basically Civ III, but it was definitely not(especially since a REAL Civ III was released later.) Actually, now that I dug out my discs, a nostalgic game may be in order.
Some of my favorites: Final Fantasy XIII System Shock 2 Tie Fighter Civilization II Age of Empires II Homeworld Counter Strike (For LAN parties) Star Wars Galaxies - Considering the number of hours I put into it, I must have liked it. Games less liked include Warcraft III Riven Civilization: Call to Power
I hate cellphones too. My wife insisted that we get them, saying she was tired of paying $50 a month for long distance, when we could pay $60 a month and get long distance free. I argued that they say $59.99 a month, but that's not what they end up charging you. In the end I finally caved. My last cell phone bill: $122.00. I think I put in 32 minutes of talk time.
If computers didn't break all the time, some of us would be out of a job. And remember, computer years are about 20 to 1. Your 2 year old computer is hitting a mid life crisis. It is amazing that an object designed to make work easier makes so much extra work. But however fed up you get, you still don't stop using them. And for my rant, why do people leave their car running in the parking lot to keep them warm/cool, and then bitch about high gas prices?
But society cannot hope to controll what parents are doing, even under more ideal economic circumstances. Society can only controll what is happening at school, and that is where the damage of bad parenting or whatever could be repaired but the opportunity is mostly ignored by the department of education. I hate to have to defend the govenrment, but I will in this case. My wife teaches at a public elementary school in a poorer neighborhood. She has kid
If it did then people would be more likely to wait until later in the game when they had the “perfect” planet to put it on. That's exactly what I was doing As long as you understand the effect, I think it's better the way it is. I always build my econ cap on my home planet as soon as I can because I think that's the best place a
The flaw in my thinking was comparing it to the Manufacturing Capital, where each added factory would increase the effectiveness of the capital. I always believed that more stock exchanges increased the bonus of the Econ Capital. There wasn't any info on exactly how it worked, so I may not be the only one who thought this way. Now I know, and hopefully others will also.
This thread is similar to one posted before the latest patch. Yes, an all defense ship is very powerful. I am still playing a DA game without the latest patch, where def is still expensive, and built a huge hull with 792 shield defense, 202 beam attack. It has 32 ultimate invulnerability shields and 4 doom rays, and took 20-some weeks to build. I also have +174% bonus to defense(good alignment). This ship is invincible, but that is only because I am winning the game. The AI can't s
I have been playing GalCiv2 for some time, and thought I had a pretty good understanding of the game concepts. But I recently noticed that the Economic Capital does not fit my strategy nearly as well as I thought. I usually do not build the Economic Capital until a bit later in the game, when I can put it on a planet with a lot of stock exchanges. I also try to make that my highest population planet. But taking a closer look at what the Econ Capital actually does, I found that the st
Drengin does have a point. This bug is huge in a game where the object is primarily to conquer planets. Even if a patch only fixes this one thing, it would be worth releasing it now, and work on other problems later. My games tend to take me weeks to complete, but I will not be starting another DA game until this problem is fixed.
Never ending? That does change things a bit. I just got this event in my game(still on my first DA game). And 1 more turn to research Hyperwarp III! I was actually hoping for a mega event, as I was just past mid game and can see that I was going to win without any more trouble. I will still win, but with a little more trouble. I like the fact that the game can suddenly totally change. In DL, I was typically building 50+ speed transports by this point in the game. I'm thinking tha
Oh, good. I am not losing my mind. I have seen tiles disappear after invasion as well. I was wondering why a planet I invaded had such a high production bonus for seemingly no reason. BTW, the bonus disappears on the next turn, too.
After reading this thread, I had to try it out myself. I was making the typicle attack/defense balanced ships, but changed to making all attack ships and a few high defense ships. There is certainly no arguing that the attack ships are cheaper to build, and as they fall, they can be replaced quickly. My main ship planet is building large size defense ships. They cost about 30% more to build, but that isn't too bad. My game is about middle stage now, so I am sending out large and med
I haven't found a way to even stockpile spies. Granted, I am still on my first DA game, my initial opinion is that I do not like the new system. All the spies I have are going to nullify enemy spies. I have the max in diplomacy, but due to my allies getting into wars, I am involved too. So far I have built a lot of spies, all for nullifying, and I still have 5 enemy spies on my worlds. They are getting incredibly expensive, and are an extremely annoying money sink. Now, I
I think this entire discussion only reiterates one thing: There are many different strategies that will work in GCII. That hasn't changed. I haven't managed to finish my first DA game yet, so I don't have an opinion here either way. But it does give me some ideas.
Give us a minute to send a save game. Thanks! You guys rock!
Let's see, September to January would be only four months. Probably Feburary might be better. Good point. Better to wait a bit just to make sure. Yeah, thread necromancy should probably be stopped. (Tried to resist, but couldn't)
I tried this last night and found it to be true. You don't seem to get the extra research from the research treaty. On DL, when researching a tech at the end of the tree, I will usually move the tech slider down as far as it can go and still get the tech in 1 turn. I had a tech treaty in my DA game, and tried this same tactic. Next turn, no tech. Still said 1 turn to research. It appears that it happens the way Todd Hawke described it. It uses the tech amount you are supposed to g
Am I just to impatient and there is always a phase where you are trailing? It usually feels that way, yes. Especially in masochistic and higher levels. If so how can you catch up eventually?
I've managed to win through obcene level, so I may have some help. First of all, economy is very important. Pick at least 10% as bonus, and also population growth bonus. This will help you start making money. Don't get discouraged by your low military rating. My last game my graph looked like an exponential function. I was last in military over half the game, but grew sharply. If the AI does declare war on you, go after their planets hard. Extra speed and sensors
Whining on game forums has existed for as long as game forums have existed. This is not necessarily bad. I find that reading the forums of my favorite game can provide as much entertainment as playing the game itself. Whiners and the responses they generate are great comedy. I would post a few links to threads supporting this theory, but I'm sure you know where they are. I say, "Whine on, whiners!" Whether we give a sht or not, we're still reading.
Unfortunately for me, I work behind a proxy that tracks the number of objects and MB of data that come down from the internet. Since I have to login, that traffic is recorded to my account. Too high a number, and I am busted. It all means very little internetting for me. Of course there are always the "borrowed" passwords...
Ack, what level are you playing at? The AI has almost no territory by year 2254? No way would I have the patience to let a game last that long. These may be legitimate pictures, but if so, it is definitely not a regular game situation. It was all done just to setup this situation. I guess I say, anyone with the patience to do this with their contructors, go right ahead. It would never be possible at a level much higher than sandbox.
