Or better yet, when a new social building becomes available, prompt us for whether we would like to upgrade all the existing structures.
Purge
You'll note the empire icon is a planet being hit by a beam of some sort with the implicit destruction of significant parts of the planet being imminent. That's the kind of diplomacy we are talking about!
Click on the ship. This should select it. Once selected, right click on the destination.
I would argue that being evil, in some cases, actually improves your ability to develop technologically. It tends to remove all humane and ethical limits to research. Since we are on the Nazi theme already, Dr. Mengele added all sorts of knowledge to our basic understanding of human biology...But he did it through means that require a complete absence of conscious or ethics.
Oddly, I have been having this issue in 1.6 as well just recently. I think it may be related to the work CariElf did on the mini-map. I have found a way to predict whether it's going to be an issue: When you first start the game, press 't' to bring up the mini-map. If it brings up the mini-map just fine, you are in the clear. If, instead, it pauses for a long time and brings up random junk for the map (or reboots your computer as it did once on me), the game will crash whe
I think Mystikmind partially made that comment because it tends to be the high level players that use those bonuses more heavily. I've noticed the beginners and normal level players choose a much higher variety of bonuses. There is a good reason for this. Many of the other bonuses will not be used by Suicidals ever because they simply don't help their game. For instance: I don't think trade ever makes sense, so no trade bonuses. If I have significant numbers of planet being inva
If you decide early on that some techs are not critical for your success and you ignore them completely, you will have beginning game techs to still research late in the game. That is a problem if you want to invade planets, because instead of getting valuable techs from the AI, all you will get is the crap techs you skipped. You should at least trade for the skipped techs, as many as you can get before inv
Have you patched up your game? There where issues with some of this stuff in some early DA revisions...
Absolutely. Nothing can ruin an economy faster than aquiring Industrial Sectors when you don't want/need it. In my mind I never need it. I stick with manufacturing centers until I simply over build all my industry with stock exchanges. However, I don't care much for the Trojan Horse concept. I wouldn't criticize someone for using it but I just don't think it's necessary. I will however make sure that all AI's have the required tech to bui
Oh, it works on large maps. Especially if you give them IC's while they are running a struggling economy. They usually start to recover a bit after you take enough planets for their economy to start working again...But that is a bit too late!
Iztok is right, I think it should be faster. Looking back and reading your post though, you are checking this very early. Also, the AI shouldn't have planetary invasion techs on turn 10, they usually they don't have planetary invasion until after year zero has passed. I tend to expect the AI to out research and colonize me through the start of the game and then I start to catch up later as I build more planetary infrastructure early than the AI. Eventually it pays back dividends. It is wort
I would suggest evil races always get one additional negative, diplomatically, with all other races, including their fellow evil. This would provide one significant long term negative for being evil without interfering with the short term gains. They would tend to fight more wars and more multi-front wars because of their general attitudes...
Old habits die hard. I tend to live and die by the keyboard in my job, so that tends to also be my first response...I wasn't in such a rush to resolve that a couple of days was a big deal at the time, and I kind of figured a response e-mail would show up sooner or later. Last, but not least, it never occurred to me to use the phone! So much for me being a master strategist!
The keys they sent me where not the originals I had installed with for either DA or DL, but the new ones worked. I did the 'resend serial' option twice and both times all the serials were immediately rejected by dumb ass SDC. I even tried reinstalling SDC but that just made things worse since it then proceeded to reject my previously valid serials for DL!! You know, after paying good money for the
I think it is pretty normal. If it's any comfort, even on Suicidal the AI can colonize itself into such a deep financial hole that it can't recover for a good while...Usually about 200 planets plus or minus 30 depending on the race and assuming it doesn't take a break for anything, like a war.
Maple Glazed Bacon! Alright, now I'm hungry!
You will get over 900 planets on a gig abundant all DA map. Regarding trading. I can usually only get a maximum of one or two useful trades in the entire game on suicidal with the majors under DA...But the minors are a different story. One more benefit to minors. They are out there claiming galactic resources early. I have no problem knocking off a minors starbase on a galactic resource...I do NOT take their planet, so that I can avoid the negative hit on my diplomacy with m
There are a couple of other things I do different in reflection. 1) I let my diplomatic relations sink in favor of research that is more helpful for economics/growth. I suspect most people would be alarmed by how far I'm willing to let them sink. I tend to try to solve this by buying wars when it gets really bad, rather than defenders...If nothing else, I can build fewer defenders. For research, I push up to the first government that offers an economic bonus earlier. 2) Ni
Mystikmind, it's worth the hassle to get it to work. DA adds a lot. I had some problems as well at one point after both DA and DL had been working. I ended up just sending an e-mail asking for them to send me valid keys that would work with both Meta and SDC. Then I flipped the keys on both my computers to match. The keys they sent me where not the originals I had installed with for either DA or DL, but the new ones worked.
+ FIX: Reduced lag when clicking on a star ship caused by a function that was looping through ALL the ships in the galaxy and setting them to not be selected whether or not they actually were selected That explains some behavior I was seeing when thousands of ships are present! Thanks!
I've taken another tack altogether. Very fast tech and put a priority on all techs that carry innate bonuses to morale and economics. Of course, my racial bonuses are also morale and econ heavy. And last, but not least, Superbreeders! I've found if you put them all together and get a little luck on the galactic resources and survey ships you can skim right over the traditional late year zero, early year one economic hump and come out the far end with a hug
I would like to offer an offical Welcome Aboard to Vilgan. May you have plenty of spare parts for your Yor toaster manufacturing facility and don't forget to forward the legs over to the BBQ place down the street!
Sounds like it will play like an entirely different game. Looking very interesting and fun.
The toll road thing is hilarious! Lest anyone think the US is immune, let me remind everyone of the McDonalds case where they were sued, effectively, for 2.9 million dollars for serving coffee that was "too hot". Sure it was reduced, but if you buy hot coffee, it's your responsibility to not spill it on yourself...Except now, it might be a good idea to spill it!
Never seen nor heard of it before either. 1.0 is before my play time. But I think they did some kind of revamp prior to 1.1....And I would take them in a heartbeat. After all - How many times do I have to tell you? People are a RENEWABLE resource! BTW I would highly recommend patching up the game if the OP is ever sees this. It's a much better and tougher game by 1.5.
