Yeah well your problem is your no where near close to the top ten, and it took me a very long time for people to join my empire, they only started comingin after we managed to get into the top ten

Could be your cpu speed, i recently upgraded to over 1gig of ram, when i was using the old 256mb of ram after i played the game for awhile it would completely freeze when i went into the ship yard or playing larger games, now with the gig of ram and various other upgrades i no longer get freeze ups at all, other than when i play a gigantic map with everything on max then my computer dies but other than this it works fine, here is a little tip.... I noticed that when you set the ram usage to "sys

Well, if you were to look at my games i used the altarians, however if you hover the mouse over the picture it says i used the acreans, also i know what the problem is.... when i went back to 1.2 and i hit CTRL-N to start a new game it would bring me back to the metaverse login... when using 1.3beta AND 1.3 it doesnt do that for me, it just starts up a new map without asking me to login again, and i KNOW for a fact ( because i did some testing on my own ) that this bug is the reason i h

Reply to Starbase Styles in Modding

Yeah that research starbase is a good idea, there must be some way to do all of this, because nothing is imposible, the good people at stardock would know a way maybe they would add it in another update or galciv3?

6 Replies 5,913 Views

As we all know, all the starbases for all races are the same three. I can picture in my head as to different models for different races however don't have the know how to do so, perhaps that is where Stardock comes in. The starbases do look cool, but I think that it would be alot cooler if the different hull styles also came with there own unique looking starbase, maybe even with its own set of special modules? Just a thought.

that is a very good idea, but one suggestion, it times of war innocent people are killed, many people are killed, so perhaps even tho only the troops are fighting normal people should still get killed too to keep the realisim up. So perhaps two bars are needed, one for how many troops you still have and how many citizens have paid the price for war. Also another tactic could be to assault a planet, kill all the tax paying citizens, then take off before the attacking troops are all gone. the kill

Reply to Ship Design in Game Talk

Yeah i have noticed the same problem aswell, mostly with one of the human hulls, it doesnt make a big difference unless your adding big parts then it sticks out big time. To fix this problem i've just added my parts to different hardpoints that seem to work. Like i said one of the human hulls, its not the one that looks like that ship from startrek, and its not the one thats on the box its that other weird looking one that i cannot get anything to line up right at all, perhaps there is a way to

I have noticed this also, for example i had 4 battle ships agains 7 defenders, they had 58 offense and 0 defense, i had over a thousand in offense and 280 in defense, i had far advanced weapon and defense technology and one of my ships should have been able to easly take out that entire fleet. But everytime i'd attack one of those fleets no matter how powerfull the enemy ship was i'd ALWAYS lose one ship. Now i know that they were evil and they were armed with the psyonic missle, perhaps that is

I think i found the problem, i reinstalled galciv2 and just updated to 1.2 .... I didn't realize this until i reinstalled but when i would hit ctrl-N to start a new map. for example a huge map would only take about a minute to load, and when i'd hid ctrl-N it would just load to a new map, but after the install and update to 1.2 i noticed that when i hit that button it would take me to the metaverse login. So i believe that was the reason for the cheat flags, also when i'd select the cus

Just wondering, is there any way to change to a previous update without having to reinstall galcivII?

6 Replies 25,466 Views

i would go to 1.2, but i think the lights on the planets gives the game a new feel, besides i think i have fixed my problem, the last game i submitted went through fine

Well from my experience.... If you have a military rating far greater then the empire your trying to ally with they usually do what you want, and yes your ethics do matter, also if you were to say, bomb them into submission and sign a peace treaty with them, they will probly stay at neutral. Then give them some money, technology and maybe a class 5 or 6 planet and they should be friendly, and with there military destroyed they will most likely accept your alliance. I have noticed that the Torian

actully... i have custom designs into the hundreds, right now my favourite ships are the altarian ships, i uploaded a few to stardock tonight, but only a few of the ones i used in the last couple games. And yes the stardock ships look pretty basic but i still thing there cool.

In various movies and pictures in the Galactic Civilizations II I see some very awesome warships, like the ones when you first build a medium hull, or the picture when you choose your invasion tactics and so on. Does anyone have any idea how someone would get the models for those ships? I have done google image searchs and I have seen those ships on an ingame screen shots and they look awesome but no where to download them.

there has been quite a few updates realesed for galciv2, in your opinion Weyrleader what is the best beta they have realesed, preferably the one with the least bugs in it?

Ok, well the last game i played i redid my custom race from scratch, yet i still got the cheat flag, and i just submitted another game using another custom race, so if it happens again i think its safe to say that if i use custom race's i will get shafted into a cheat flag eh

14 Replies 24,214 Views

So basicly what you are saying is to delete all my custom races then remake one from scratch? Thats to bad but that should only take a minute to replace. Hopefully once I do that I will not have the same problem again, I knew that it had to be something with the custom race's because that was the only time it has ever happened to me, thanks guys.

Reply to stargates in Modding

Here is an idea. What IF you had lets say a battleship, with 3 Hyperwarp III's, normally that would take you very far but what if it only took you 2 sectors? that would make space travel take very long. But that is where the stargate would come in, Each race can start out with a Stargate, now that could make it so each race could instantly invade ones home sector right? Wrong. In order to jump to an ememy races stargate you would have to know the exact location, and once you did, it would be put

On my last game, I noticed a red icon with a skull and crossbones... Does that mean that the game has been flaged as a cheated game? If so I find that a little bit annoying because it happened to be the best game I've ever played also it took me over 6 days ( not non stop ) to finish. I have noticed alot of people complain about the same issue, I have the mod folder turned off and I did not have over 10 points in the abilities tab. Maybe it was because I used a custom race? The only thing that I
