Yeah, Piracy is one of the mega events, It's a normal occurrence too, but by the scale of your problem it looks like you've hit the jackpot. I think you might be right in restarting. as the game is obviously very restricted and you probably wont learn much pinned down like that. Especially considering it'll take you a long time to develop enough to bust out and take them on.

I'm curious, Could someone address the peacekeeper problem as mentioned by James Deutschland Beatty,(As they have just arrived in my current game) What are the limits on this event, Is it as described in the game that they only attack armed ships outside owners territory and is it a bug when they continue to upscale the attacks and destroy other targets including ones within own territory?
Getting your economy going and generating cash is very important. But there are as many opinions as players about this. It's so easy to overstretch yourself so badly in the early stages that it's almost impossible to recover. A suggestion I read (can't remember who by) was to start a game and save it immediately, then play that same game several times for about a year (50ish turns) varying what you do each time. this will give you a feel as to what works and what doesn't. <
I've accidentally started a war just like you did, (I havent seen the doubling up of buttons though)I had the autosave off at the time. Maybe a confirm would be nice as war is definitely a major pain in the ass. Especially if you were getting on well beforehand. It has never happened again though. cause I got into real trouble and this weakened me so badly I got killed off in the end. I never play without autosave set low (I use 10 turns) like moosetek now.
If you have DA installed you should have a DA icon either on the desktop or in Start, all programs/Stardock Games/Galactic Civilizations II folder If not, Start Stardock central and click on games open the galactic Civilizations folder select Dark Avatar (Expansion Pack) and click install, It will do everything automatically.
She has always said she is not too crazy about games involving killing, aliens, etc.. But she does like games that involve caring for characters, coddling them, building them up, etc.. Whats her chances of her throwing you off the "your" computer so she can play the Sims, considering the decent/girly game ratio, I think it unlikely P.S. don't let it be said that I ever would be in a position to say if "The
Anywhere is better than Microsoft. It's a pity games wont follow soon Sorry if I'm rude Lotherius, But you talk shit.,.....
Even if he's 10percent correct its so frightening it needs to be addressed this is a money grabbing attempt to control computer usage. Does Microsoft really believe that we will allow them to dictate to every component manufacturers. I think not, Maybe they'll submit I can't see a world that is without control, do you think Vista is too soon, don't you conceive of further limitations being forced on us. are you blind. Vista is the start of global control over our comput
I have GalCiv II, Bought through (play.com) with DA (Stardock Central download) and all the upgrades, My CD copy of dread lords is fooked, wont install. Can i legitimately download an Image of the original dread lords disks from another source in order to have a working copy of those disks? If not , How do i get a replacement for my broken copy of a Legitimately purchased copy of the Dread Lords disks? without having to have the encrypted files and Stardock Central to
If you have your serial you could just as easily download the game *legally* throuch SDC, you know. Ok, i digress, My original copy of dread lords doesn't work anymore, my cd1 is corrupt, The copy I get from stardock Central, needs their files on my computer, whereas my copy resides on Cd, I wouldn't expect Stardock to send me a replacement, so i downloaded one myself, my problem lies with the metaverse, I hope that the ppl that sent
Trancejeremy. I think you might have a point, No protection debate revolves around updates, you can get all the recent updates off of p2p or newsgroups, the question I would like to ask is, What information does Stardock acquire from us when it activates "Stardock Central" on our computers. I would hope none , other than essential stardock files, If so, why worry. Have you ever worried about windows updates?
I'll admit it, I downloaded Galactic Civ 2 illegally originally. I loved it though, I've just downloaded Dread lords from the newsgroups cause my original copy doesn't work anymore. but I have my serial so no problem, unlike any other company that insists on feudal copy protection and a disk that you cant replace, My registration is all that matters. Good on you SD
The genre is also the problem. Males are most likely to do the most exciting things. I.E. war, fighting, racing, scifi type stuff. so ladies, get your asses into jets, strap on guns and kick Captain kirk ou of his seat and well play games about you, maybe
Or I bet you could market existing games very easily by changing them just a little bit. Like Mortal Kombat. Just create a new, big lady sumo wrestler wielding a purse. Then not only do you market to the women, I think it would be kinda fun to lose. Hmmmm.
WOW !!!! I'm speechless too. Makes you wonder why DX10 is only on vista. Does that mean the gamers have to sign up to this sooner or later ?
This is a report on how the security systems of Vista operate I think every Vista customer needs to read this before buying/installing Link : A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection Final Thoughts "I'm not sure how the company lost sight of what matters to our customers, both business and home, the most, but in my view we lost our way. I
Yes, ugly women--that's a huge market segment. Particularly in Massachusetts. muahahahahhahahahaaa I guess you wont too much trouble pulling then .
All burning effegies are to be returned to the nearest Drengin storehouse please > I'll keep mine and use it on Bill Gates.
I agree, Nasty glitch, But how many other companies are as quick of the mark? Don't forget the whole policy that allows them to listens to us, their customers, and implements our ideas in the improvement of their products. Also no copy protection to feck up our systems. No commercial enterprise is perfect but Stardock has my respect for going that little bit further than most.
I think it's more the market myself, It's not so much the devs its the corporate philosophy behind the marketing. So if your looking for a scapegoat look no further than the end user. Even when the lead character is female as in Lara Croft it seems to only inforce the feeling of a male dominated user base influencing the development and marketing of games. This situation isn't going to change overnight, If ever. But I don't find any problems with playing games that have female
Did you also know that if you buy a troop transport from another civ it appears just out of orbit next to the AI planet of origin and (here's the best part) it's fully loaded with his troops! you can conquer the galaxy using his ships Now thats what I call an exploit.
Oh, well, don't I feel foolish now. Thank you both for pointing this out to me. Just found out myself, due to your question.
See Link and Link For more info.
Its also a good idea to get an online photo store, I use Photobucket to store pictures and then insert links to those images in my posts. Heres the Link
I highly reccomend upgrading your colony ships with new engines, so they'll double their speed. It'll take a turn to upgrade your first one, but it's well worth it. Thats the first thing I do every game.
