Personally, I prefer to research at least 2 levels of upgrade at once, otherwise you are forever upgrading and military and research points are greatly reduced while you upgrade. With Factories I try to research up to Enhanced factory, then later up to Manufacturing Centre, leaving the Industrial Sector as the very last upgrade of any building. Its not the increase in social production Im after, its the ability to add more modules to my Economic Starbases around my large Research plan

1 is just the default trading option for influence points, if you click on that trading option a slider comes up with the full range of points to purchase if you want to. Buying influence points is incredibly expensive.
More pop = more cash I dont use racial points on pop growth bonus. Rather I wait for the AI to build the Aphrodisiac Trade Good (At higher levels the AI builds this rather quickly). Once I have got a reasonable cashflow, I simply buy the Trade good and get the pop growth bonus.

Personally, I think saturation advertising for a very good game...and this is a very good game...is a bit pointless. It really depends on your market. These types of games appeal to a certain type of player...and they generally would read magazine articles, web reviews etc etc and be aware the product is coming. Advertising for this game would only be productive if you were targeting gamers who dont normally play this genre of game IMHO, huge advertsing in magazines is real
Starbases field of influence extends to planets in other sectors. This is good if you have a Technology capital close to a sector corner, you can have up to 16 starbases extending production/research boost.
Actually with that homeworld setup, the first thing I would do is purchase the lab and micromanage the sliders for the first dozen or so turns to make sure you get the best out of research. Set spending to 100%, tax to 12% (this ensure 100% moral until you build Entertainment...very important as your pop growth doubles anything 99% moral or below.) Next turn buy the Factory, then build Farm, Entertainment (then set tax to 30%),3 Markets and another Lab in that order.
Well, for me economic starbases are a gamewinner. Find a big planet, turn it into a research colony, make it the Tech capital, fill it with NLC's, surround it with economic starbases ( 4 per quadrant you should be able to get 12-16 if the placing of the planet is good), research production so you can upgrade all the economic starbases to give 33% boost each of research and production to the planet...and presto...once fully covered with NLC's the planet is cranking out 4-5000 research points....
1) When you sort your colonies by which ever criteria you want and go to a particulary planet, the next/previous button should cycle through the colonies the way you have sorted them. For example if I have sorted the colonies by population size then this selecting 'next' should give me the planet with the next highest pop and 'previous' give the next lowest pop. 2) An ability to remove an individual upgrade for all colonies, via a global screen. This will also stop all upgrades of th
When I purchased the game I immediately patched , was the 2nd patch released I think. Played a few games with a huge galaxay, abundant everything without crashes. The problems began when I tried playing gigantic galaxy-abundant everything. The game ran well upto around several game years into the game, then the crashes came. With previous patches the game crashed at various times, during saving (often obliterating the saved game as well)or when ships were completing autopliot routes
