Thank you Stardock, I have been waiting too long for a good, polished, up-to-date fantasy strategy game, and I think you are the guys to do it. Age of Wonders and HoMaM 5 leave my cold, whereas I still load-up MOM every year or so. But you know, if you really want my heart (and my wallet), then you need to have a long, hard think about X-Com.

[quote]45 kryo * * Member No.662,525 April 9, 2008 21:36:38 Do you think you Stardock guys could have a word with GPG about system requirements? They've been working on the engine a lot since then and have told us that it runs a lot better now. [Commander] [5 Game Winner] [Over 5 Battles] [Very Evil] [Obscene][/quote] That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I have just gotten my greasy mits on the Impulse beta, and

Good news to me, Demigod looks interesting. Do you think you Stardock guys could have a word with GPG about system requirements? Supreme Commander needs a quad-core to run a whole game smoothly with 8 players, and that isn't really an acceptable requirement for 2008, it certainly wasn't for 2007, and it'll still be cutting the game off from a fair chunk of the market in 2009.

You guys certainly don't seem to be outsiders when it comes to the main online review sites, who have all been giving out the Stardock love. I guess the intended benefits of such conferences would be to exchange ideas, learn about new techniques and new tools, possibly do some scouting for recruits or partners. But, if its not serving your needs, then leave it. Alternatively the whole thing might just be one big love-in funded by marketting dollars. Who knows, I've never been.

I'm having a crash to desktop problem on starting up Twilight of the Arnor. This used to happen from the start menu link, but not when launching from Stardock Central. Today I patched Twilight and now it is crashing from Stardock Central as well (I suspect because it opens a launcher now). Anyway, looking at debug.err, the problem is fairly obvious. I have had to uninstall and reinstall GalCiv 2 a couple of times on this machine, and at some point I changed directories. Launching th

I haven't finished downloading the latest beta yet, so ignore this if its irrelevant now. But, the sounds for the invasion screen are truly awful. Pew pew pew, very harsh and too loud (which I suppose is realistic for gunfire). Means I hit skip as soon as I can every invasion.

Now I can't help wondering Jack Thompson plays games. If he doesn't, then its surely time someone got him addicted to something (something electronic). I don't think Planescape should have a sequel as such. I would like to see another game in the setting - although that would tie it to D&D and for my money D&D rules don't work very well as a computer game system. A shame since there's such a wealth of content there. Failing that, an emphasis on good story writing and significant, in

I have bought the expansions so far and would continue to do so if they keep providing good value. One option a lot of companies do is release their expansion packs as a stand alone game (or slightly reduced), for example Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, the Dawn of War expansions, and the annual version of Football Manager/Fifa/every other sports game. It would avoid your problem of being limited to your existing user-base. In some ways its a bit of a cheeky tactic, but

Supreme Commander is a really good game in a lot of ways, and a real step forward for RTS (I see Sins of a Solar Empire has taken a lot of lessons from it). But, I voted for GalCiv because it actually runs properly on my computer. SupCom will only be a truly great strategy game next year when people have the hardware for it. Love all the Total War games as well, but for whatever reason Kingdoms hasn't taken up as much of my time as Galciv by a long stretch. Shall have to go back to i

If StarDock were to begin developing an RPG now, would that drop them head to head with Bioware's Dragon Age? What about Fallout 3? I love RPGs, especially stuff like Baldurs Gate and Torment. Thing is, while a lot of Gal Civ 2's diplomacy and technology descriptions are quite witty, the main campaign story is...well...maybe its just rushed. Just bear in mind that you need some people capable of churning out really good written language on demand. You'll know if you've got them I gu

This all looks pretty cool. I'm excited. Going to have to get to grips with Stardock Central now I guess. Regarding espionage, I'm pleased to see it expanding, but one complaint I have about how its been traditionally done in 4X games is that it gets very fiddly, often doesn 't have a great deal of genuine impact, and I often forget to do anything with it at all. Basically if you can come up with a system that is simple and elegant, but provides decent strategic choices (i.e. more

I'm a little concerned about download only. The UK download site was more expensive than the US one for Galciv 2, so I bought off Amazon instead. I hope this problem won't happen again, or at least that I'll be able to use the US download site if its cheaper since my bank is quite happily to do payments in US dollars. Also, perhaps Stardock should consider some sort of agreement with other electronic download providers (e.g. Steam) whereby they would sell each other's games and thus reach a

As others have mentioned, you really released the demo too late. I used to buy a lot of games after playing demos myself, although perhaps not so much since the internet came out. Anyway, the demo really needs to be before the retail game, because at that point if people are going to do big downloads then they'll get the full thing using bittorrent. And once someone's got the full thing they're not all that likely to pay for it. It does happen, but

There've been a few threads about this now. In the last one I read, someone who wasn't me suggested that, when you build your factory, it should upgrade through all the lesser factories during the build time. I think that'd work nicely. No extra player involvement required and you don't need to have your interface all cluttered up with obsolete stuff.

I figure this is expansion pack material if at all. There'd probably be a lot of work to do getting the AI to use and react to it properly. And of course it'd need a toggle.

Well I guess I'd vaguely heard of Galciv I around MOO3 time from Apolyton, but didn't buy it and forgot about it. Then I saw some news piece that said Stardock were negotiating for the rights to make Master of Magic 2 and here I am...(please make that game)

Ok, this one might be a bit unpopular, and I'm not sure how quick and easy it is (might impact the computer's play), but could I have an option to: Stop starbases overlapping, or to limit them to one per type per sector, or even just one overall per sector? I find the whole overlapping starbases thing somehow inelegant. As in, you go to all that trouble of choosing what buildings to put on your planets based on their si

Well, I started off by pirating the game, but I just got my nice collector's edition tin in the post this morning. Yes, people actually do this, we're not mythical . It helped that Amazon are doing it for £18 including postage. They're doing Civilization IV for the same incidentally, and a deal on the pair. Meanwhile, Starforce does appear
