LOL Brillig, that's the best H2G2 reference I've seen in months

What you're missing is the full ability of the AI. It is handicapped by being forced to ignore it's best ideas at any difficulty below tough, I think. AI = intelligent or better. Colony rush is a pain, although it reminds us of the Oklahoma land rush for a good reason: when a new frontier opens up, there usually is a land grab in real life. Haven't played with the ctrl-L function yet, but it looks liek an interesting way around that issue.<b
Let's hope so Green. Otherwise it's proof that you really can fool some of the people all of the time
RaijenArDesh, I guess no one told you that anomalies generate randomly throughout the game, huh?
I want to join in begging for a mirror image command, preferably for left/right symmetry and another for top/bottom symmetry. Those two in combination with Jesse's free form rotation will make an awesomely powerful toolset that I can't wait to play in.
In the upcoming patch, they have said they will add a feature such that constructor ships will display the area of effect a starbase would have if you used that constructor to build a starbase in the ship's current square, which is MUCH better than having to save, build the base, then click on it to see if it's in the right place
The answer is yes. The new game and metaverse buttons create an open ended sandbox game . The campaign is a series of mini-games with specific goals and a storyline linking them
Now, now, pokerface, even if you win, a pissing contest just ends with a whole bunch of piss everywhere. No need for that
I think it's important to make a distinction that I don't think the "grognard" camp has sucessfully communicated to the "intuitive" camp from what I've seen on the forum. There is a world of difference between a simple, transparent [system] and simple, transparent [output]. A scenario to illustrate the difference: I am trying to decide between a factory or a research center on the tile that has just opened up on planet x thanks to Soil Enhancement. If I wanted a transpar
I *think* that espionage level is a function of the ratio of your total spending to that empire's population, so that eventually you'll have to restart espionage once their population goes up too far. I've never seen my espionage level go up duirng war, though, so I can't confirm this.
OK, enough with bashing the guy. Wars are not fought according to Marquis of Queensberry rules. I'm sure no nation has EVER armed a freighter as bait for their enemy's warships, or smuggled commandos behind enemy lines using civilian buses, or any of a hundred sneaky dishonorable things. [\sarcasm] What goldenocean has found is the GC2 implementation of the time-tested, proven method by which a weaker naval power confronts a stronger one: priva
Leave it to a sneaky, backstabbing, treacherous Liao to put guns on a transport freighter OK, now that my Davion streak has been exposed, back on topic. I see two scenarios where this would be of value, both of which would occur in the early to mid game. 1: Raider, as mentioned above. Pile on one gun, lots of engines, and lots
My Latin quotes are rusty, but I think it was Herodotus that said sinum bellum, pecunium infinatum. The sinews of war are infinite money.
Maybe I missed somethign n your question, but I think you are overlooking the role of the spending slider. In your example, with 100bc/week of capacity in each category, to use all 300bc of capacity you would set the3 type sliders to 33 33 and 34. This sets each of the topic areas to use 1/3rd of your total spending. Now go to the spending slider and increase your total spending until, over on the far right under expenses, you see that you are spend
To some extent the fuzzy math is realistic. I sincerely doubt even the legendary Alan Greenspan could sucessfully predict the EXACT impact of any decision on one country's economy, let alone a star-spanning empire of hundreds of billions. Galactic emperors will not have total and absolute control or transparency into evry aspect of their empire. Don't go MoO3 with that idea, but I'm actually enjoying the fact that I don't understand the game well en
I REALLY like this idea. Right now it seems like nothing can possibly compete with the priority of fast colony ships and constructors for the first 6 months or so. In real life, I think I'd have a hell of a hard time convincing 500 million of my closest friends to pile onto a ship and head off God knows where hoping that they find a habitable planet before they run out of supplies. I'd much prefer to be able to afford to explore with something other
No modding, just using the +10% trait in game, I've seen it work as designed on many worlds. It has to round or truncate to an integer, so a 10% bonus will only net you an extra tile on PQ9-10 or better worlds.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I have several strange glitches associated with loading a game. 1: Unless I exit to the main menu and load from there, the old game's treasury balance ends up being the balance of the newly loaded game 2: Ships set to auto-survey or auto-explore, when loaded, often change their destination to another of my ships instead of their designated auto missions 3: First time after loading, end turn doesn't work
Arggh, must retract my sticky recommendation for the moment, as it seems that I can't download a working verison of the mod. The zip files seem to be corrupt, I get an unrecognized compression error when trying to extract them.
I have 4-5 planets with pops like 573 million or similarly un-round numbers, so my bet is on percentage
Would it be possible to change all moons to anit-retrograde (or whatever the appropriate word is) easily, say by reversing the sign on the direction of rotation? Since our moon is the only rendered in game that has a known real life counterpart, all the others may as well march to the beat of its drum, right? No biggie, but if it's trivial to fix it'd be a good fix to do.
Indeed, this is one for the annals of gaming support legend. The ONLY thing driving you guys to a deadline was your own word. You'd have been COMPLETELY justified in going home to your families after along week and letting it sit unitl Mondya, because you've already gone far beyond standard to even be doing a third patch EVER, let alone so soon after release. You have made a customer for life now.
I disagree with the sensor range changes, but otherwise consider this excellent work and am downloading as I type. Would it be OK with you if Stardock simply rolled this mod into the next patch? (Some people want the credit, so I thought I'd ask). Stardockians, everything except the GC2types changes looks like a no brainer for inclusion in the next patch to me, and those are worht considering also. If Saber Cherry gives his(?) blessing, please roll t
