Hello Found my first hard crash with 1.2. I had accidentally put a "fleet" rallypoint on a starbase. So there was couple constructors and a starbase on same fleet. When I pressed the little X next to the constructors name line to brake the fleet I got CTD. Here is the debug.err: Debug Message: Version v1.2 last updated on: Mon Jun 12 18:04:26 2006 Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 6/28/2006, 23:05:36 DirectX Versi

It seems to be a feature/bug. Irritating yes
@1 This is the same game as in thread "AI stupid in 1.2, bug found in galaxy creation". The debug.err in that thread indeed shows that all AI are set on Intelligent level. Now that I later on checked the debug.err it does not mention what level it sets the AI. No matter, I checked the screen you told just to be sure and all AI indeed are set on Intelligent. So maybe it is like Ion said? Edit: My game is currently at 22 oct 2230
Hello Iam quite sure this has been reported alrdy but could not find the thread anymore. So here is goes again. All AI are set to Intelligence level and this is what I founded after invading Thalan homeworld. I used standard attack so nothing was destroyed. 3
@marcathonas I messed around with galaxy creation screen and was able to reproduce this bug. Its quite random but sometimes the AI inteligence just wont follow the Difficulty slider. The debug.err seems right because after I took the picture, I manually selected Intelligence for all the races.
There is a option called Advanced AI routines in 1.2 galaxy creation phase. If you choose it AI should spend more time analysizing your tactics or something like that. In short, it should make AI bit more smarter
@2 Hmm not really sure about this, since in the game Iconians appeared and while in galaxy creation they were at sub-normal inteligence even if I changed difficulty level. I did however choose Intelligence for Iconians (and other races that did not change their inteligence) manually and that can be seen in Debug.err. Well I have no idea how this system works really all I can hope is that SD can find the bug that makes AI really dumb (aka not expanding) in some games. All I know is tha
Hello There has been bit discussion why AI seems really stupid sometimes and not expanding at all. Well I just found a major reason for this. Let the picture speak for itself. I switched many times difficulty level back and forth and all the races reacted to this execpt Thalan, Drath and Iconians. They always stayed at subnormal level. I had to manually select intelligence levels for these races since the diffi
If a planet has a Fleet Manager the combat is shown in combat viewer, even if defender is only one ship. Kinda stupid yes
bump
Yep exactly the same thing happening here in multiple games. I did a fresh install and updated it to 1.2 . Still happening
The expansion pack sounds promising. I very much like the new planet feature and hopefully it eliminates the initial colony rush. I really hope they tweak combat viewer and planet invasion graphics too. As for the cost, I think Dark Avatar has a very reasonable price.
Weird since the Purchase page clearly has a option for Digital download + CD (with S/H costs). Ah the stupidity No box but just a plain cd sent to you. I get it now
I like the download very much. It enabled me to download the game 2 weeks before I recieved the game from post. And I think few more weeks before the game was released in Europe. Praise the VISA
I also consider these thing not bugs but annoying. It is only natural that there will be glitches when you do whole new features into the game, so the civ manager is ok. But can´t say the same about the mini map, it has been quite bad from the beginning. One thing I would like to add into this list, is planet invasion and cultural borders. I have noticed that the cultural border updates right after your begin the battle. Sometimes this kinda tells you how the battle will end, even i
Reading it now! More complex space battles sure are welcome Maybe formations? Some new eye candy for land battles would be welcome too. New espionage sounds solid too. Not too big fan of campaing but getting to play as Drengi sure sounds neat Almost forgot, those asteroid platforms look terrific!!
@PJ You have a point there. But I don´t see the huge difficulty here. Instead of having computer check all the time if ships are on collision course, the ships would have pre selected starting point and would move towards enemy untill they are too close and stop. By this time the battle would be over. All you would have to change is the ship starting points and the shooting part is doned alrdy in the game so no coding there. But you are right that these are not so important issues as some ot
Iam no expert coder or anything, but changing fleets to move as formations can´t be huge change. Maybe too big for a patch but for expansion?
I wrote my opinion earlier but still like to bump this thread. I think it would be alot of work, but making combat viewer fleets actually use formations and moving slowly towards each other would make the combat viewer 10x cooler. I get this big feeling of controlling a wast empire untill I get into combat viewer where the dummy cars crash each other
what I cannot understand is why those faulty gorverment bonus texts have not been corrected.
Thanks for the info BoogieBac! It´s not a total game killer, but hopefully you guys can fix it. After this one is fixed the game is going to run very smoothly. Only micromanagement there will be left are the star bases. Keep it up SD
Quick reply box below thread works with Firefox 1.5.X but not if I create a new post entirely. I have make new posts with IE It gives a small red error text something like this "error posting the message, try again later".
Did a fresh install of GC2 but still these bugs exist. - When selecting a rally point for planet sometimes the builded ships don´t go to the rally point location. They launch off the orbit but the rally point is not selected for the ship. This happens in later of the game. Early on the rally points work fine. - When movig a rally point, ships heading towards the old location don´t update their rally point and stop moving. Also happens later in the game.
I think i´ll turn this option off too. Atleast I hope it will be bit more balanced in 1.3
I have been experiencing strange AI behaviour when I select the "Randomize AI inteligence" in game setup menu. In example my previous game I had large galaxy with 5 random opponents. Difficulty set to Tough and Randomize AI inteligence option was ON. All is well but when the game goes on I start to notice strange thing. 4 out of my 5 opponents have only 2 planets and the last one had 15 planets or so. So ok I like little random in my game but with this setting turning 4 o
