the Baltar character in the original series was the creator of the Cylon. i've never read anything stating the relationship between the new series and the original. as for Baltar's machine, i've always figured it to be a lame duck. he was a computer programmer, not a geneticist, and it didn't detect Boomer (can't remember if she was tested though, but Tigh did say that it failed on her anyway).

i'm with SB. even though i've pondered it at great length, after re-watching the last half season, there are some things i want to know more than the identity of the last cylon, such as: wtf is up with the opera house? how to the opera house visions relate to baltar (he's the only one not sharing them)? what is the metaphysical fate of the cylon species? how does it relate to the cylon and hald cylon babies? assuming they do arrive at our earth, how will they reconcile

seth, are you familiar with the extra thread management tools you can use when you log in through impulsedriven?
well, all's not lost if you have a previous turn's autosave. it might take more manual effort and more game time, but you could go through and upgrade 2k ships on the longest lease, and then do the massive upgrade. it'd probably ding your score a bit, but it'll still be severl hundred thousand points for the empire. there isn't a hard limit on the number of ships you can have, only on the number of ships the game can work with at once (in this case, the number of ships you can upgrade on the
that's odd that it deleted 2k ships. there's no way that was the OS, but it's possible SD added something in to try and deal with the OOM problem. even with only 0.75GB overhead, Vista really likes shuffling things in and out of memory (and page file). if you're video card has more than 512MB of VRAM, you might also be running up to the total memory limit. (RAM + VRAM + ~512MB for system caches is this in TA? if so, the limit you experienced and the 2k deleted ship
the "magic number" most people say for a single upgrade is 17,000, not sure why you seem to have a lower cap. in any case, there's nothing you can do about the memory limit. the number of ships you can upgrade in a single turn is a factor of how much memory a 32-bit program for windows XP can address (2 GB). if you have a lot of background applications running (other mem usage hitting 1.5 GB or close), turning some of them off might help you squeeze out that extra 1,000 ships to hit t
i'm a little disappointed that there hasn't been better fine-tuning of the AI in TA 2.0. i mean, if this is meant to be the definitive version of GC2, i hate to say it but the DA AI blows it out of the water. a friend and i did some analysis and thought that perhaps part of it was the "AI value" tags in the tech tree XML, but there are other aspects we can't explain. even at suicidal, only a few of the AIs are anything like good. i can't help but think that some of it comes from the persisten

hey KP & SS, i revived the D&D thread on ToE since neilo should theoretically have internet access again soon. in theory at least. i figured it'd be a good time to start discussion logistical type stuff, etc. just thought i'd leave a note in here.
Who?
he just said, Pat.
taliesin, you used an " Everflyer" email address to register at the ToE website. [e digicons][/e] i omitted the full emial addy for your privacy, but my previous statement stands. nothing bad was done; i just don't understand the lie. i don't think anyone does, and that's why we're asking after it. PS: AFAIK, seth and KP reached their conclusions independent of this information.
if geckos taste like chicken and kzinti taste like fish... nevermind.
same thing look i just came back here i don't want to see another witch hunt...
don't over-react. and if you're referring to H., he got less than he deserved.
taliesin, i can't speak for everyone, but i don't personally have anything against you. it's just suspicious that you deny your former identity (especailly when you hide it so poorly).
the AltMeta is exactly as active as the regular MV. it's just a parallel scoring system. there's no registtration required, and (AFAIK) unless Kryo blacklists someone from the AltMeta, anyone who submits MV games is eligable for AltMeta ranking by default. i think that was the significance of what KP was telling you.
so the name "everflyer" means nothing to you?
"I am Legion" was also the title of an episode of Justice League Unlimited. the basic idea behind the allusion is one bodily incarnation containing the power of many, many souls (or super heroes). though it's a bit of a mis-nomer to apply that to talesine, who is many, many screen names, but only one person.

it's been a very, very long time. but isn't the point to win? yes. well, having fun too. and i can have fun losing just as much as winning if it's a good, challenging game against people at about my level. and sorry, but if you make a mistake and others catch it, they deserve to win and you deserve to lose. them's the breaks. i'm not advocating cheese tactics like the zergling rush, but this is a competative game. it's not like the kind of cheese you see in MMOs, and starcraft was nev
lol, I got ya hooked. Next Monday begins more new eps.
i'm waiting for new eps of BSG, Smallville, Fringe and now this. actually that reminds me, when exactly does BSG resume?
actually online identity is one of the sub-topics that interests me; as with most things, i think it's too complicated to make a general statement about everyone who participates. however i'd tend to agree that narcissism is a large factor. actually i just watched an ep of big bang theory all about that.
the original quote was "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional," at it was said by Chili Davis, a Jamaican-born baseball player (so i assume you were using the term "once great philosopher" loosely). When did you meet him?
