@OShee - as far as I know, you just need to use transparency. The PNG image format supports that. Um, obviously if you have the improvement image saved without the white background that would be great, otherwise you'll have white jaggies all around after taking out the white. Guys, I got a message back from Gaunathor a week ago. For some reason I didn't see it until today. Anyway, a couple of things that I think need clarification. The Hyperion naming ch

It's normal to see compatible ship designs from other races using the same hull prefix. As for the bug with dummy modules, I've only really seen that with mods - for example, if a ship component is removed from GC2Types.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been about much! I did the links though! :) I think the community update is coming along well. I honestly haven't played GalCiv 2 lately though. Just needed to play something else for a while, I guess. Hell, tonight I dug out SPORE and played that for a bit before realising there was a reason I shelved the damn thing. :P

@Campaigner Like I already said, show me where you can add an extra license to a Steam library. There's a bargain to be struck somewhere, if Steam makes it possible.

Well look, if Steam doesn't give at least a little ground, then it's back to the good old days of physical media which you can actually play in whatever machine you like. Nobody is denying that digital distribution is a big step forward, but it also has the potential to shoot itself in the foot if contending with disc checks is an easier thing than letting a family play games as a family. It's not like they're getting away with the old 'one disc between four

It is actually possible to use, for example, the High Resolution Grpahics mod with the community update, if you're selective. I typically only use the improved stars, nebulae, tech grid and terrain query textures. Also, you could use the weapon sounds from Space Weapons Fix Mod since most of them use the vanilla filenames. Overwriting or merging XML files from one mod with another is not recommended, though.
Are ther
Does anyone wonder if Gaunathor is dead? I do, it would be ironic and sad if the thing he loved drove him nuts.
I wouldn't have thought so. When depressed people walk away from stressful things it usually makes things better for them. Also, he's been lurking on the forums as recently as last Thursday. I know that I didn't want to be the guy calling the shots because I didn't want the stress fro

I think the AI puts weapons on cargo hulls in response to loss of cargo hulls, but that's just speculation. They don't seem to last long, anyway.

Sorry dude, those screenies don't show up and still give a 403 error when you click them. Of course, I can just cheat and look in the shared folder... and re-upload them to my site so they show up. :) Massive Korath Empire: Scattered empires everywhere: <img src="http://marvinkosh.omniloth.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/AIP7-FIXED-02.png" al

Well. I was on Skype with Mabus for nearly four hours tonight. I couldn't see what was on his screen, but it was quite exciting hearing about the finds in the code second-hand. May have a handle on the AIP7 colonisation thing, making strides in that direction anyway.

@SilasofBorg: Okay well, I cleared the AI abilities and my own so that the playing field isn't influenced by my picks for abilities, which might not be the same as another player's picks. :) Immense galaxies with a moderate abundance of planets do tend towards being extremely long games and they're quite challenging. I guess though that the reason for my choices is that I like to have a number of planets, each with a particular specialisation. Sadly,

By the way, in case you missed it, Steam has decided to try out in-game broadcasting much like Twitch. I'm going to give it a whirl. Although chances are there won't be any viewers, I may as well see if it works! Post-broadcast: Well, a broadcast did show up under the particular tab, buuuuuut, Steam doesn't seem to archive broadcasts. So, Twitch still wins, for the moment.

Hmm, for some reason I'm unable to edit the top post. Forum bug? Cheers for posting a new version! I'll check it out. :) Hmm, Life Support is back to normal. I guess it didn't work out as planned, then.

I think that defence modules just need to be balanced a bit more. Currently the progression is strong, and allows starbases to kill fleets very efficiently.

I did a LP of the Community Update. Thing is, it's difficult to do a LP series when new versions are popping up quickly. I recorded a lot of footage but didn't have time to edit it. I also did a couple of streams to Twitch and uploaded one of them as an episode (it's just gameplay, no commentary).
