OK, someone tell me straight and in no uncertain terms: if I buy EU, will I be able to update it to 2.0?

A new reatail version of GC2 is being released soon, called GC2: Ultimate Edition , which contains DL and the two expansions. It's made by Kalypso, the same people as Endless Universe. I'm thinking of buying it, but will I be able to update the game? I really don't want to buy it if I can't update it. Also, since I
OK, so I've played a bit longer from a previous savegame, and it looks like the problem probably originates from a bug with a couple of my ships. I took some ships out of orbit on a planet, and when I tried to move them it said that the ship is out of sensor range and so it can't move. It happens no matter where I click as a destination. I think the reason it froze the turn change was because I moved the same fleet mid-turn, to attack an enemy fleet that had just come into
I'm getting the same problem at the moment. I'd be interested in hearing the outcome :)
If you need a good image program, download Paintshop Pro ... you can get a free version if you Google it. It was so good that I shelled out the $300 for the full version. You could get the Gimp. It's free, full of features and just bloody brill. http://www.gimp.org/
I like to name my ships after a theme. Last game I chose fantasy badguys, so Goblin, Orc, Ogre, Troll, etc. This game, I have chosen the theme of winged beasts, so have got a Wasp, Dragonfly, Jackdaw, Albatross, etc. I guess I will go up to Phoenix or Dragon or something. In addition, I always have a code at the end to help me. I don't make new ship designs that often, and prefer to update existing designs (so I only have a couple of small hull designs, and a couple of large, et
OK, I've...wait for it...SURVEYED the site and couldn't find a damn thing about the reason why survey ships can auto-survey areas that haven't been revealed. Any ideas, as it just doesn't seem to make any sense at all to me.
Supposed to be that way? I think I need to find that explanation!
BUMP! This is still a problem. Does anyone know if this is being fixed in the 1.2 patch, as it's a bit rubbish really.
The main problem with the minor races in GC1 was that while some simply sat around and didn't do a great deal in the game (some early research, perhaps some trade and that was about it), some of them colonised a few planets quite quickly (around 3 or 4) and then sat there and churned out vast quantities of very powerful ships. This had the problem of them being easily more powerful than any of the major races (I remember some minor races having a military rating over 1000) and not so easy to wi
Yes, I've had the same bug (having war delcared without my knowledge). Are the developers aware of this problem? I have the newest patch, and yet I recently had the Yor contact me with a peace offering, despite my not being aware they ever declared war. Did they approach you and demand funds or resources? What can happen (at least in GC1, as
This is still a problem!
I couldn't see any thread for this, so I thought I'd start my own. Every time I complete research and the GNN window comes up to describe the new tech, the animation of the robot is jerky and slow and the rotating image of the new tech is the same. I have the latest video drivers for an overclocked GeForce 6800LE, my processor is a 2.1GHz Athlon 2600+ and all of the other in-game videos work OK. I have turned anti-aliasing to 0. Is this a bug or something that I need t
#5 You can play a quasi-Hot seat game with someone by loading up the game as GalCiv2 cheat (use the cheat parameter). Then when you set up the game, you let the AI play out a few turns and then have your friend pick one of the races they want to control. Have them select that unit and hit CTRL-SHIFT-Z. OK, Brad said this in another post. Any
I used to play this old game called Imperium Galactica 2: Alliances. Anyone remember it? Anyhoo, the game had this great way of doing 3D battles, so that when ships battled it zoomed into a grid that showed all of the ships in the fleet and then it kinda went like the likes of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, so you could click and drag your ships and then select a target, or select tactics and formations and let the PC blast it out for you. Ground battles worked the same way, except wit
